Chapter 809: Talking About The Path
On Mount Wuzhi’s main peak, Ou Yangming descended slowly under the company of 2 top-grade Venerable Ones, who were Master Kurong and the 10,000 Beasts Venerable One.
Everyone that had been waiting there for a long time was relieved when they saw them arriving safely.
The 3 Venerable Ones and top-notch powerhouses from the various peaks on Mount Wuzhi had hurried over. Among them, the most eye-catching person was Yuqi the Venerable One.
Master Kurong shook his head. It looked like Yuqi the Venerable One had arrived at Mount Wuzhi earlier and reported about the incident where Ou Yangming was attacked, which was why everyone found out. Nonetheless, they might not have been able to keep it a secret even if they wanted to.
Yuqi the Venerable One flashed to Ou Yangming’s side and asked softly, “Master Ou, how do you feel?”
“Thanks for your concern, Yuqi the Venerable One. I’m fine.” Ou Yangming grinned and added after a pause, “Thankfully, Master Kurong and 10,000 Beasts Venerable One made it in time, or I would’ve really been in danger this time.”
The thought of the formidable yet peculiar Li Xin made him shiver.
If he ended up being seized by the elder, he would probably be more dead than alive.
Yuqi the Venerable One nodded and comforted the young fellow, “As long as you’re fine.”
Struck with a thought, Ou Yangming asked, “Where’s Elder Macaque? Is it fine?”
Yuqi the Venerable One was glad. The old macaque had risked its life to stop Li Xin, and it ended up being severely injured. Given that Ou Yangming asked about the macaque as soon as he arrived at Mount Wuzhi, it was evident that he was not an ungrateful person.
“Hehe, don’t worry. Elder Macaque was injured, but its foundation is still there, so it’ll fully recover after it recuperates for some time.” The Venerable One then noted seriously, “Master Ou, the most important thing for you now is to recharge your energy so that you can compete with the smithing master from Zhangzhou.”
Lingfeng the Venerable One and the others surrounded them. They nodded when they heard what Yuqi the Venerable One said.
Since the old macaque’s life was not in danger, given the Beast King Sect’s resources, no accident should happen anymore.
On the other hand, the Big Smithing Competition that Ou Yangming was going to participate in was a grand event that would affect the reputations of the 2 prefectures, hence there must be no mistakes.
Tiandao the Venerable One furrowed his eyebrows and remarked, “It’s our negligence that you were shocked this time, Master Ou. Ah, had I known that would happen, I should’ve traveled with you.”
Yuqi the Venerable One’s face darkened. “The attackers this time were Sky-devouring Evil Remnants, which included a top-grade Venerable One. Even if you were there, Brother Tiandao, I’m afraid that you’d also be helpless.”
Tiandao the Venerable One was vaguely holding the Beast King Sect accountable, so Yuqi the Venerable One was not going to let it be.
Upon hearing what he said, Tiandao the Venerable One’s face changed, but he dared not quibble further after he glanced at Master Kurong, who kept a straight face.
This time, 2 top-grade Venerable Ones had joined hands to bring Ou Yangming back safely. If Tiandao the Venerable One expressed that he could escort the young fellow, did it not mean that his combat power was on par with the 2 Venerable Ones?
Although he was arrogant, he was not brainless, thus he knew his strength could not be mentioned on equal terms with that of the 2 Venerable Ones.
Besides, since Li Xin could injure the old macaque easily, Tiandao the Venerable One would probably be fraught with danger too.
Lingfeng the Venerable One immediately laughed and said, “Yuqi the Venerable One, Tiandao only wants to stay by Master Ou’s side to do his part; he didn’t mean anything else.” He paused for a while before he stated, “Your residences have been well-prepared, so please go ahead and rest.”
Master Kurong nodded and asked, “The other sects have been notified, right?”
“Yes,” Lingfeng the Venerable One answered, “They’ll be making their way here in the next few days to welcome the guests from Zhangzhou.”
The 10,000 Beasts Venerable One suddenly asked out loud, “Are there still no news from those fellas from Zhangzhou?”
“Brother 10,000 Beasts, they’ve sent us a message to inform us that they’ll definitely arrive within a month.” Lingfeng the Venerable One spread out his hands helplessly. He hesitated for a while and was going to say that this was a communication between the Humans from 2 prefectures, but he swallowed the words,
Lingfeng the Venerable One would not be too concerned if it was other Venerable Ones from the Beasts, but the 10,000 Beasts Venerable One was different as it was the most top-notch powerhouse of its era. If it were to fly into a rage, even Master Kurong would be helpless.
“It’s actually good that they’re going to be a few days late.” Master Kurong smiled. He turned around and asked, “Master Ou, I also have some thoughts on smithing art, so how about we spend these few days learning from each other and exchanging our views?”
Ou Yangming’s eyes gleamed right away. He responded sternly, “Thank you for helping, Master.”
The others including Yuqi looked enviously at him.
This was because they knew Master Kurong was acknowledged as the greatest blacksmith in Danzhou. Since he said that, it meant that he was going to pass on his best tricks to Ou Yangming.
There was not much time, so Ou Yangming might not be able to learn much. Nevertheless, even if it was a last-minute thing, it would be great for him to broaden his knowledge.
“Tea has been prepared in my thatched cottage. Please, Master Ou,” Master Kurong noted with a smile. He turned around and waved as he added, “Xiuming, come with me too.”
Following that, he nodded at the rest and walked toward the space next to the cliff.
As he leaped, his body stood steadily in the void, then he walked into the dense fog on the mountain and disappeared.
Ou Yangming was surprised, and he thought, ‘You’re a Venerable One, so you can fly and walk on air, but how am I supposed to follow you?’
Who knew, while the young fellow hesitated, Yu Xiuming had beaten him to it by making his way to the side of the cliff. The man then stepped into the endless void.
Ou Yangming widened his eyes as he was surprised. He watched Yu Xiuming following in Master Kurong’s footsteps into the dense fog.
“Th-this is…” Ou Yangming turned to look at Tiandao the Venerable One and Lingfeng the Venerable One.
It was not strange that Master Kurong could walk in the air, but it would be a joke to say that Yu Xiuming was also a Venerable One.
Tiandao the Venerable One could not help but laugh. “Master Ou, don’t worry. Please.”
Ou Yangming frowned and knew there was something queer about the cliff, but since the people from Mount Wuzhi were not going to tell him what it was, it would be pointless for him to question them closely.
Moreover, Ou Yangming could not flinch at this moment as he was in public. As such, he bit the bullet and arrived beside the cliff. Subsequently, he took a deep breath and looked ahead with a bright luster in his eyes.
Even so, as far as his eyesight could reach, he still did not see ropes or anything similar hanging above the void.
He twitched his mouth and cursed internally, ‘It’s really annoying when someone tries to mystify things…’
Despite that, no matter what Ou Yangming was thinking, he still stepped outside. The only thing was that the young fellow had retrieved his interspatial bag and locked on the flying carpet with his mental conception. As long as something was off, he would release the carpet and fly away.
Once he stepped outside and into the void, his face changed.
There was nothing beneath him, but he was somehow supported by a soft power. It was as though he had stepped into a cotton pile, causing his body to move up and down.
Ou Yangming quickly channeled his dantian and stabilized himself from being swayed like that.
Afterward, the young fellow advanced with steady steps. Even though he could not feel that his feet were firmly planted on the “ground”, the light feeling that made him feel like he might fly away at any time was exciting and new to him.
The young fellow entered the dense fog and walked for a while more before his eyes lit up as he saw a floating thatched cottage indeed.
Ou Yangming kept a straight face, but he could not help but curse internally, ‘It’s such a weird habit to build a cottage here.’
Master Kurong looked up and nodded at him. “Master Ou, what do you think about this place?”
The young fellow was dumbfounded. He looked at the master and disciple, then he hesitated for a while before he answered, “This place is quite unique.”
“Master Ou, you haven’t noticed the wonder here.” Yu Xiuming chuckled and paused for a moment before he continued, “This is where Master realized the path, and it’s closest to the universe’s origin power. I’m able to come here thanks to you.”
Ou Yangming was moved. The mental power in his sea of consciousness surged, and he instantly noticed that his surroundings were unusual indeed.
He was even more in awe because the Heavenly Phoenix Fire and the Dragons’ head in his sea of consciousness were also in high spirits as if they were extremely satisfied with the environment.
Given that they were also moved, this place was certainly not simple.
Master Kurong smiled and noted, “This is a thatched cottage that I built when I practiced martial arts. It’s crude, but I accidentally fathomed the path when I was at a juncture of life or death, so I got twice the result with half the effort by cultivating and learning here.” He looked deeply at Ou Yangming and added, “Master Ou, you were attacked this time because of my lack of consideration. Hehe, so cultivate here for a few days as you’ll be able to recuperate and face the Big Smithing Competition in your best condition.”
Ou Yangming quickly replied to the master, “Yes, thanks for the help, Master.”
It was an opportunity for sure for being able to cultivate here, thus anything would treasure the opportunity very much.
Master Kurong chuckled. “Alright, you don’t need to be so polite. I’ll be talking about my lifelong smithing experience. As for how much you’ll be able to apprehend…” He glanced at Ou Yangming and Yu Xiuming with bright eyes before he finished, “It’ll be up to your abilities.”
Ou Yangming and Yu Xiuming dared not delay the matter at all. They bowed at the master with respect and responded to him right away.
Without further ado, Master Kurong began to pass on his learnings to them.
What surprised Ou Yangming was that Master Kurong started from the basics and slowly increased the difficulty level. Everything that the master talked about was related to smithing art, so the young fellow and Yu Xiuming could understand well at the beginning. However, when the master suddenly described Venerable-One-level smithing techniques, they started to frown.
That said, Master Kurong ignored them. He continued without stopping, hence they could only memorize and lap up the information without digesting them.
After 3 days, Master Kurong laughed out loud and fluttered away, leaving Ou Yangming and Yu Xiuming to ponder hard without being able to extricate themselves.
