Immortal of the Nine Realms
Chapter 1887: Brother Lang, Is This Your Sister?
Different races could not intermarry. Even if they did, they could not conceive offspring.
The Vajra Race only had twenty-one Saints, meaning they possessed only twenty-one Supreme Bones in total. Compared to the God Race, whose entire bodies were composed of Supreme Bones, the difference was like a street beggar and an emperor sitting upon the dragon throne.
However, certain secret techniques could allow different races to unite and conceive offspring. Yet, such secret techniques were bound to cause immense, catastrophic damage to the mother's body. Furthermore, while the resulting offspring would possess a considerable number of Supreme Bones, they still could not fundamentally alter the lineage of the entire clan.
The intentions of the Vajra Race were already blindingly obvious. They merely wanted to breed a stronger individual, someone who, for instance, could achieve exceptional results in the Saint Tower Battle in the future. If such an existence could eventually advance to become a Saint, their raw combat power alone would be enough to elevate the foundational heritage of the Vajra Race by several tiers.
It was precisely because the divine ability cultivators of the God Race had deduced the Vajra Race's motives that they were so thoroughly enraged.
What right did a clan of their low standing have to subject the God Race to such an insulting arrangement?
Half Saint Du narrowed his eyes as he stared at Yan Haoran.
Yan Haoran maintained his smile, returning the gaze. However, he kept glancing at the petite figure standing behind Half Saint Du through his peripheral vision.
"Why haven't the Saints of your Vajra Race shown themselves?" Half Saint Du suddenly spoke up. "With the power of a Saint, suppressing me would be as easy as lifting a finger. After that, you could do whatever you please."
Yan Haoran said with a soft chuckle, "Half Saint Du, you must be joking. Although the God Race has fallen into decline, you still have many old friends. If we were to cross the line too far, how could those old friends of the God Race sit by and watch? But as long as we don't take things to an extreme, those old friends will not meddle in this matter. After all, the one you have offended is... the Supreme Qingming Alliance."
Yan Haoran sighed softly. The underlying message of his words was clear.
Your God Race still has some backing, so we cannot afford to push you to absolute ruin. But we hope you will be tactful and cooperate of your own accord.
"Then let me give you my answer. The God Race will never sell out its own clansmen to serve as a sickening, filthy breeding vessel." Half Saint Du grinned. "Especially not for a fragile, feeble clan like your Vajra Race."
He laughed mockingly. "You are weak—so weak that you resemble nothing more than tiny insects. If I squeeze ever so slightly, I can crush you to death."
Yan Haoran's expression turned grim. Behind him, a wave of fury instantly surged in the eyes of the Vajra Race divinity cultivators. These words were packed with absolute humiliation and mockery. The God Race was clearly on its deathbed, yet they still dared to mock the Vajra Race, which was backed by twenty-one Saints?
"So... I take it the negotiations have completely broken down?" Yan Haoran sighed softly. "In that case, we will simply have to request our Saint to step in and capture all of you as slave soldiers. I am confident that such a trivial matter will not provoke the wrath of your old friends. After all, the Supreme Qingming Alliance is still watching, isn't it?"
If the God Race hadn't offended the Supreme Qingming Alliance, how would minor races like the Vajra Race ever dare to kick them while they were down? Precisely because of that, they were certain that on such a minor matter, the former friends of the God Race would stay away just to avoid suspicion.
"Perhaps today I can finally experience the difference between a Half Saint and a true Saint," Half Saint Du muttered under his breath, his immortal energy beginning to surge violently. "Since the day I advanced to a Half Saint, I have never once traded blows with a Saint. I, too, wish to know what kind of existences Saints truly are."
In the void above, a magnificent Inner Domain manifested, and a voice as light as a feather drifted into everyone's ears.
"Presumptuous..."
Witnessing that, the expressions of the God Race cultivators grew incredibly solemn, and they braced themselves to fight to the death alongside Half Saint Du. That majestic portal could only belong to a Saint of the Vajra Race!
Yan Haoran and his clansmen all adopted expressions of profound reverence, turning their eyes toward the grand gateway.
A cold, crisp voice rang out, "Half Saint Du, I will stay behind. Please send word to my brother. Tell him I got lost and not to look for me."
Lang Yu'er stepped forward slowly. Her cold, elegant features carried an aura of unattainable, sacred purity. It instantly made the men and women of the Vajra Race feel a subconscious sense of inferiority. They had to repeatedly remind themselves that the God Race had declined and was no match for the Vajra Race just to feel slightly better.
No further sound emerged from the magnificent portal. Seeing that, Yan Haoran smiled faintly and asked, "Can you make the final decision?"
He appeared to be speaking to Lang Yu'er, but the corner of his eye was fixed on Half Saint Du.
Half Saint Du said coldly, "Little girl, get behind me. We haven't degenerated to the point of selling our women to survive."
Lang Yu'er said calmly, "Half Saint Du, this isn't selling out. This is a choice. I am doing this willingly, and it has nothing to do with any of you. If my brother were here, and if he were in my position, he would do the same."
"I would do the same, but I will never allow you to do it."
A massive spatial gateway had opened in the void. Three figures stepped out, with Lang Daochun leading the way. He stared at Lang Yu'er with a stern countenance. "Go stand behind Half Saint Du."
Lang Yu'er cried out in pleasant surprise. "Brother?"
The other God Race members present were equally astonished. Lang Daochun hadn't returned alone. He had brought two others with him!
Are these our reinforcements?!
Their eyes immediately locked onto Fang Chen and Wang Chongsong. They quickly glossed over the latter, but when they noticed who Fang Chen was, shock colored their faces.
"Isn't that... the number one sixth transformation from the Saint Tower Battle in Longsheng City?"
"Did Big Brother Lang bring him here to help?"
Some of the younger God Race members failed to grasp the deeper implications. However, the older members realized something, and a glimmer of pleasant surprise instantly sparked in their eyes.
The moment Half Saint Du saw Fang Chen, he understood why Lang Daochun had been brimming with confidence when he left. In the current climate where no Saint was willing to wade into these muddy waters, it made perfect sense upon reflection. Someone like Fang Chen—whose race was not especially powerful, but who himself was extraordinarily special—really might be able to persuade the Vajra Race to show some level of respect.
"It's him?"
Yan Chen's eyes twitched, while the light in Yan Mei'er's eyes flickered relentlessly beside him. Back in Longsheng City, before the Saint Tower Battle had even commenced, the two of them had already crossed paths with Fang Chen. At that time, neither of them could have imagined that he would achieve such a legendary result in the tournament.
Yan Mei'er muttered under her breath, "What is he doing here? Does the God Race think that inviting a cultivator from such a weak race will make us back down?"
Within Fang Chen's gray-white pupils, faint radiance flowed. He stared at Lang Yu'er without so much as blinking. Lang Yu'er clearly recognized Fang Chen's identity as well, and seeing him stare at her so intently, her brow furrowed slightly.
Fang Chen asked, "Brother Lang, is this your sister?"
Lang Daochun chuckled. "Yeah, looks just like me, doesn't she?"
Looks like you, my foot, Wang Chongsong thought to himself silently.
One was as beautiful as a rare flower, while the other looked like a wild boar.
How could they possibly be biological siblings?
