Chapter 442: Saint Master's Awakening

Xu Lei charged straight at Yuan Kong.

When Xu Lei had killed the Charm Ancestor, he had used explosives.

But Yuan Kong had flown down from the Celestial Palace. He had never witnessed the power of explosives.

Moreover, he didn’t know that Xu Lei was the one who had killed the Charm Ancestor.

So at this moment, he held no fear of Xu Lei whatsoever.

Watching Xu Lei charge over, he even looked a little disdainful.

He never expected what would happen next.

An earth-shattering BOOM erupted across the plaza of the Third Heaven.

“AHHH!”

Yuan Kong couldn’t help but let out a blood-curdling scream as he was sent flying by the blast.

He lost an arm and a leg, and his skin was shredded all over. His body soared through the air like a broken doll, nearly crashing to the ground.

The power of more than a thousand backpacks of explosives detonating at once was truly immense.

The reason the Charm Ancestor had been able to survive it was because it had a Protective Magical Treasure.

The Protective Magical Treasure had resisted the majority of the power.

It also had a Spatial Talisman, which allowed it to instantly teleport away and avoid much of the damage.

But Yuan Kong had no such thing at the ready. He had been careless and hadn’t mobilized a Protective Magical Treasure or used a Spatial Talisman to escape. He had taken the full brunt of the blast with only his own Magical Power.

As a result, his face was completely ruined by the explosion, and only one arm and one leg remained intact.

“Impossible.”

“How is this possible? How does Liao Chen have such attack power?”

“He sent Senior Brother Yuan Kong flying in a single blow! Am I seeing things? What kind of joke is this?!”

“He actually managed to injure Senior Brother Yuan Kong? And this badly?!”

“Didn’t he just pass the trial to reach the Third Heaven? Is something wrong here?”

“This is insane! How did he do it?”

“It must be some kind of Secret Technique. Look at him, he’s horribly injured too.”

“It must be a strange Secret Technique, one that doesn’t distinguish between friend and foe!”

“This has to be his ace in the hole. He must have been forced into a desperate, life-or-death struggle!”

“Yeah, he must have been aiming for mutual destruction, right?”

“It seems he was really pushed into a corner!”

“With no path of retreat left, what else could he do?”

“To be honest, I kind of admire him!”

“If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have been able to do it!”

“Never would have expected this, never!”

The crowd buzzed with discussion.

Meanwhile, Xu Lei had indeed also been harmed by the shockwave from his own explosives.

Moments ago, Xu Lei had actually been a bit farther from the shockwave.

Compared to Yuan Kong, at least.

Yuan Kong was the one closest to the explosion, as he was Xu Lei’s intended target.

It was a premeditated ambush against an unsuspecting foe.

As for Xu Lei, he already knew how powerful the explosives were, so he had done his best to get clear.

The instant he triggered the detonation, he had retreated frantically.

But in order to set it off, Xu Lei had to get quite close, so he was still injured.

After all, when dealing with an existence like Yuan Kong, trying to detonate the explosives from a great distance and remain completely unharmed was unrealistic.

Yuan Kong’s Magical Power was extraordinary. If Xu Lei had tried to simply send the explosives over with remote control while keeping his distance…

…it was likely the explosives would have been destroyed by Yuan Kong before they even got near him.

That’s why Xu Lei had to personally take the risk.

He charged directly into close combat with Yuan Kong.

Then, he suddenly pulled out all the explosives and detonated them.

As a result, both were injured, but Xu Lei’s injuries were definitely less severe.

However, because Xu Lei’s own Magical Power was weaker than Yuan Kong’s…

…overall, Xu Lei’s injuries weren’t actually that much lighter.

At this moment, both of Xu Lei’s arms were also broken.

The skin on his left cheek had been blown clean off.

“Hahaha!”

And yet, seeing Yuan Kong’s state, Xu Lei couldn’t help but burst into wild laughter. “Yuan Kong, you’re not so tough after all!”

To be honest, Xu Lei was a little surprised.

He had wondered just how powerful Yuan Kong, who had passed the Ninth Layer’s trial, could be.

‘Could he withstand the power of more than a thousand—nearly two thousand—backpacks of explosives detonating at once and emerge unscathed?’

He hadn’t expected that Yuan Kong actually couldn’t, and was instead blasted into this state.

Now, Xu Lei was no longer nervous.

Now that he had made his move, it was a fight to the death.

This was exhilarating. As long as Xu Lei could kill Yuan Kong, it would be his victory.

“Die!”

With that, Xu Lei charged at Yuan Kong again, his Lotus Drill whistling sharply through the air.

And to Xu Lei’s surprise, perhaps because he was so severely injured from the blast, Yuan Kong didn’t even have time to react before he was pierced by the Lotus Drill formed from Xu Lei’s Lotus Treasure Fragments.

It grazed past one of his arms.

“Impossible! Why are you so strong? What the hell is going on?!”

Of course, Yuan Kong did snap out of it. He channeled his Magical Power and began to dodge.

Though he only had one leg left, with a single push empowered by Magical Power, his figure moved like lightning.

But Xu Lei activated his Golden Magic Staff, and a Golden Dharma Shadow smashed down with a thunderous roar.

BANG!

It sent Yuan Kong flying back a hundred meters.

At that moment, Xu Lei noticed a ring on Yuan Kong’s severed arm.

While Yuan Kong was using his Magical Power to dodge and defend, he was also trying to retrieve the ring.

Xu Lei’s eyes immediately lit up.

‘So that’s why Yuan Kong hasn’t used any Magical Artifacts or Treasures. It’s likely his treasures are in that ring.’

Xu Lei immediately channeled his Magical Power. The Lotus Drill transformed into the Lotus Hand, shot out with a roar, and snatched Yuan Kong’s Spatial Ring, pulling it back.
