Chapter 457: Chapter 454: Li Luo’s Wish

Mo Ling suddenly stood up from the stone, clutching his chest, his whole body trembling.

Since he had broken free of the overlapping state, the god’s-eye view shattered in an instant, and everything returned to tranquility.

There were no beings unable to find release, nor was there any sound of boisterous laughter.

Only the small, calm puddle before him...

Mo Ling’s movement made the ground tremble slightly. A small wave rippled out from the edge of the puddle, its ripples spreading back and forth across the small pool. Mo Ling’s heart, too, remained turbulent for a long time.

The Little Elf remained seated on the stone, looking at the small puddle.

"What’s wrong?" it asked, a little worried.

"Did you hear anything?"

"A sound?"

"Yes, laughter. From up there." Mo Ling pointed toward the sky.

The Little Elf was silent for a moment before replying, "No."

Mo Ling took a moment to compose himself and sat back down on the stone.

This time, he didn’t overlap with the Little Elf again, but sat cautiously beside it.

"What kind of laughter was it?" the Little Elf pressed.

Mo Ling shook his head. "I couldn’t hear it clearly."

The feeling just now had been somewhat surreal.

"It was like I was dreaming."

Mo Ling didn’t know why he could see the dreamscape or why he could see through the entire abyss. That strange perspective still made him feel a little sick to his stomach.

Seeing that Mo Ling didn’t dare get any closer, the Little Elf didn’t insist.

"You should go save your companion."

"What about you?" Mo Ling asked, looking at the Little Elf sitting on the stone.

"When Dawn City sends the god back, I’ll return the authority to him. Then I’ll go search for my own wish."

As the Little Elf spoke, it waved its hand, and a blue Olive appeared before it once more.

"Are you heading to the fourth level of the abyss?"

"Yes," Mo Ling nodded and replied.

"Follow it. It will guide you to your companion," the Little Elf said, pointing to the Olive. "It will also lead you to the passage to the fourth level."

"Alright." Mo Ling looked at the Olive but didn’t leave right away.

"What is it?" the Little Elf asked, confused.

"I was just wondering if we’ll have another chance to meet again."

Hearing this, the Little Elf was a little surprised. "Hm? Is that your wish?"

"Yes," Mo Ling answered without hesitation.

But the Little Elf could tell at a glance that Mo Ling was lying.

"Don’t lie to me. Go on now. Humans are very weak, and your companion is all alone in that canyon full of glass shards. You must be worried."

Mo Ling nodded without speaking.

He waved to the Little Elf and walked toward the Olive.

After following the Olive for a short distance, Mo Ling stopped again and turned his head.

"If that really were my wish, would you grant it?" he asked earnestly, addressing the golden silhouette still sitting on the stone.

"I certainly would."

Hearing this, Mo Ling nodded, turned, and walked away.

This time, he didn’t look back.

...

Following the Olive, Mo Ling stepped into a dazzling expanse of golden light in the distance.

Warm golden light enveloped him.

Just like when he had fallen into the hollow under the sea, Mo Ling felt as though a thick blanket had suddenly appeared, wrapping him up completely.

Immediately after, his consciousness began to fade.

When he woke again, he was already lying inside the Block.

Rubbing his eyes, Mo Ling groggily got up.

The metal floor was littered with dull shards and fine dust—waste material stripped away from Mo Ling during his previous teleportations.

’I need to find a place to dispose of this.’

Because Mo Ling didn’t know if these things would change size again if he threw them out, he had never dealt with this garbage.

He got up from the bed, picked up a few empty cans, and carefully packed the waste material inside them.

After placing the cans of waste at the edge of the Block, Mo Ling extended his perception outside once more.

A shattered mirror-like surface, towering mountains of shards, a boundless, reflective canyon.

The blue Olive floated silently ahead, waiting for Mo Ling to follow.

Seeing this, Mo Ling quickly maneuvered the Block to catch up.

The Block’s current appearance was also very strange:

Its surface was wrapped in a layer of Purple thread, as if the Block was wearing a Purple coat. It actually looked a little cute.

Xiaozhi was still trying to tighten the threads, but it was useless against the hard metal walls, leaving them at a stalemate.

"Never again," Mo Ling sighed helplessly.

Following the Olive, Li Luo’s figure soon appeared in Mo Ling’s field of view.

She was still standing under the large tree, trying to communicate with it.

"Do you know where the transcended have gone?"

"Can I make a wish to the transcended?"

"If there’s only one person, can they still pray to a god?"

...

Faced with Li Luo’s various questions, the great tree remained silent.

"If I make a wish to the Sea of Creation right now for the metal block to come back to me, will it come true?"

As Li Luo continued her questioning, she took a can of cola and some snacks out of her bag.

She placed the cola and snacks under the great tree, then found three pens and stuck them into the shards nearby.

Immediately after, she closed her eyes, pressed her palms together, bowed toward the sky, and silently chanted something.

When she opened her eyes, a familiar metal block had appeared before her.

Li Luo froze. She looked at the Block in astonishment, then back at the "offerings" under the tree.

"It really worked? The Sea of Creation is amazing..."

The Block slowly drifted in front of Li Luo. Still in disbelief, she cautiously reached out and touched the metal cube.

"I thought that once you became a god, you wouldn’t come back..."

"That’s how it is in all the human myths. Once you become an Immortal, you never descend to the mortal realm again. All worldly ties are severed."

Muttering to herself, Li Luo picked up the offerings from the ground and placed them on the Block.

"Eat up. This food has been blessed by a god. Eating it will bring you good luck."

She opened a can of cola, took a sip, then walked over to the great tree and poured it out.

The cola trickled down along the roots, slowly seeping into the bottomless shards and disappearing from sight.

A gust of wind blew past, shaking the leaves. The glass fragments clinked together, creating a sound like wind chimes, as if in response to Li Luo.

Li Luo patted the tree trunk and stood there, listening to the sound of the leaves.

Inside the Block, Mo Ling looked at the teleported can of cola, a slight smile playing on his lips.

He opened the can of cola, letting the long-missed sweetness fill his mouth.

Listening to the sound of the glass leaves, Mo Ling’s thoughts drifted far away.

He recalled his previous experience of being a god, and it all felt like a surreal dream.

With a mere gesture, he could destroy a group of creatures; with a casual thought, he could fulfill a wish that a race had desperately sought for ages.

That lofty, superior perspective was indeed intoxicating.

"It’s just that..."

Mo Ling picked up the cola and took a large swig.

"What god gets to drink cola?"
