I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 422 - 419: The Wished-For Battle
Chapter 422: Chapter 419: The Wished-For Battle
The once crystal-clear transparent world was now nearly shattered to pieces.
But Slaughter’s will to fight had not dissipated.
Learning from its previous experience, it no longer chose to attack the balloon by splitting itself apart. Instead, it opted for the purest form of hand-to-hand combat.
Every punch stirred up a gale, and every kick made the mirrored surface tremble. Although it still couldn’t hit the balloon, Slaughter was incredibly excited.
"Again! Again!"
Slaughter twisted its body, the sponge-like pores all over it spewing terrifying white smoke. The immense power began to warp the very air around it.
As it threw a punch, sonic booms instantly erupted around its arm.
However, the balloon redirected the hostility of Slaughter’s punch back onto Slaughter itself.
The heavy punch was thrown, but it ended up hitting itself. Slaughter’s head instantly exploded, but the sponge on its neck twisted and swelled, growing a new head in the blink of an eye.
"Keep going!"
Slaughter paid no mind to such injuries. It quickly returned to the fight, launching even fiercer attacks at the balloon.
Neither could harm the other, but the transparent world suffered for it:
The giant seaweed had been completely annihilated into tiny, transparent fragments.
The surrounding reefs had vanished without a trace.
The limbs of countless glass creatures were scattered through the air.
...
These fragile lifeforms were completely unable to withstand the aftershocks of the battle. For them, the endless gales and tremors were nothing short of an apocalypse. What was once vibrant with life had now fallen deathly silent.
Mo Ling tried teleporting parts of Slaughter’s body a few times, but the stripped-away sponge-flesh would regenerate in an instant. Slaughter paid the damage no mind, not even sparing Mo Ling a glance.
Its only enemy now was the balloon.
’How long are they going to keep this up?’
This battle didn’t seem like it would end anytime soon.
Slaughter wanted a thoroughly satisfying fight; this battle had to go on until it was completely spent.
"Keep going!"
Slaughter and the balloon fought into the sky, then returned to the ground...
Mo Ling was still trying to think of a way to break the stalemate when the unexpected happened.
Amidst the terrifying aftershocks of the battle, he suddenly heard a crisp sound:
"CRACK!"
It was the sound of shattering glass.
The mirrored surface—Slaughter had smashed it!
A terrifying crack bloomed from beneath Slaughter’s fist.
Spiderweb-like fractures instantly crawled across the entire mirrored ground.
By the time Mo Ling reacted, countless glass shards could no longer hold, and they began to fall.
Slaughter leaped into the air again just as the mirrored surface beneath it instantly disintegrated.
’Oh no!’
Mo Ling could still fly, but Li Luo was still on the ground.
He hurriedly flew down, but the mirror was shattering too fast. Before Li Luo even realized what was happening, he was falling along with it.
Even Fatty was slow to react. It froze in the air for a moment, only snapping out of it when reminded by the head. It quickly transformed into a Lego Bird and flew toward Li Luo.
After the mirrored surface had completely fallen away, what lay beneath was revealed.
’What is this?’
Countless mirror fragments were falling into a writhing mass of golden light. The surface of the light was incredibly viscous, like churning paint. The golden light was trying to repair the mirrored surface, but the speed at which it was falling had completely exceeded its expectations.
While Mo Ling was still marveling at the strange sight beneath the mirror, Li Luo had already plunged into the golden light, with the Lego Bird diving in right after him.
’Damn it!’
When Mo Ling got back down, he couldn’t find any trace of the two, only the still-falling mirror fragments and the churning golden light.
The great battle in the sky continued, with Slaughter and the balloon locked in a heated struggle.
After a glance upward, Mo Ling didn’t hesitate for a second and flew straight into the golden light.
After plunging into the golden light, which felt like a quagmire from the outside, Mo Ling felt as if he had jumped into the ocean. The water gently caressed his body.
The golden light that looked so turbulent from the outside was exceptionally calm within.
’Where am I?’
Mo Ling looked all around but couldn’t find any sign of Li Luo or the Lego Bird.
Everything around him had suddenly become quiet; no sound from the great battle above reached him at all.
Mo Ling floated in the golden light, at a loss.
Just as he was feeling lost, a wave of light surged over, gently pushing his back as if trying to guide him somewhere.
After a moment of hesitation, Mo Ling relaxed his body and stopped resisting the wave of light.
Soft light twisted beside him. Mo Ling felt his body become weightless as the wave of light pulled him along, bobbing up and down, gently floating him toward the distance.
’Is this still the original Divine Sacrifice Site?’
Mo Ling looked around curiously, finding his surroundings utterly monotonous. There was nothing but golden light, save for some strange golden threads that spread out in all directions as if connecting to something.
Finally, after being gently rocked and carried for a while, the golden wave stopped and began to pull Mo Ling upward.
’Are we there?’
Mo Ling hastily broke free from the golden light and flew upward.
However, when he reached the surface of the Golden Light Sea, he was blocked by a layer of glass.
’Is this the mirrored surface?’
Mo Ling touched the glass in front of him in surprise.
The mirrored surface here hadn’t fallen; it was still completely intact.
’Could this be another Divine Sacrifice Site?’
Mo Ling quickly looked up, peering through the thin layer of glass to the outside.
The scene before him left Mo Ling stunned once again.
Beyond the glass was an antique, elegant pavilion.
Outside the pavilion, stars twinkled; inside, the lights were bright.
Flickering lamplight illuminated the guests within the building.
The guests were all humanoid figures dressed in magnificent embroidered robes, but their heads were those of various sea creatures:
Orcas, octopuses, lobsters, starfish...
Their attire was exquisite, complete with all manner of accessories. They were noble and elegant. These humanoid sea creatures gathered in the pavilion, emitting strange and peculiar whispers.
The friction of scales against tentacles, the clinking of carapaces against fins—these rustling sounds passed through the glass and drilled into Mo Ling’s Block head.
Ethereal incense smoke rose within the pavilion. Mo Ling seemed to be able to smell the lingering scent of ash—it was a bit acrid, yet addictively so.
Mo Ling, in a daze, pressed himself against the glass, then abruptly came to his senses.
’This is a Mirage!’
He suddenly realized this was the "Mirage" recorded in the lore of the mirage-mists!
Mo Ling hastily searched among the humanoid figures.
Soon, he found his target.
It was a sharp-looking young man, who was cautiously surveying the pavilion’s environment. He even poked a nearby crab with a tree branch he was carrying.
The crab didn’t react at all, completely ignoring him.
Upon discovering that the branch passed right through the crab’s body, the young man let out a long sigh of relief, wiped his forehead, and muttered softly to himself:
"Still just an illusion."
