Chapter 420: Chapter 417: Fierce Battle

When Mo Ling broke free from the hostility, he found himself standing high up in the transparent Beast Fighting Arena.

’Huh? I’m back?’

He touched his head and realized it had, at some point, turned into a Block.

The balloon was floating nearby, the sponge strings beneath it constantly strumming the air.

’It actually came back with me, too.’

As the balloon strummed, the enveloping hostility gradually dissipated.

’I don’t think I can see the lines of hostility anymore.’

The ability to perceive the lines of hostility must have been an innate skill of the sponge creature. Now that his body had reverted, Mo Ling had naturally lost this power.

"Is this your original form?" the balloon asked curiously as it sliced through the hostility.

Mo Ling nodded.

"It’s quite strange," the balloon said bluntly. "You look... discordant."

Just as Mo Ling was about to retort, a sudden gust of wind blew past.

"You? You’re so weak! You want to fight me too?"

Mo Ling quickly looked toward the source of the voice and saw sponge fragments materializing out of thin air in the center of the Beast Fighting Arena, gradually gathering together. ℯ

In the blink of an eye, the sponge fragments formed a robust, humanoid creature with a thick tail.

The humanoid creature had only one giant eye that took up almost its entire face. It was currently glaring viciously at the balloon, its gaze filled with unconcealable contempt.

"Are you the enemy sent by God?" it asked the balloon.

Then, it looked at Mo Ling. "You too?"

After its body had fully coalesced, it suddenly looked toward Li Luo and Fatty at the edge of the Beast Fighting Arena.

The two of them had no idea what was happening and were watching the increasingly ferocious humanoid creature with caution.

"You too?"

"All so weak," it said bluntly.

’This must be Slaughter...’ Mo Ling’s heart grew heavy as he watched the hostility swell.

Frightening white smoke billowed continuously from the sponge’s pores. Its body, which looked incredibly soft, was actually extremely tough.

’This is a powerful creature capable of stopping a Volcano’s eruption.’

"It’s very powerful," Mo Ling said cautiously to the balloon.

However, Slaughter caught the faint sound from a distance.

"I am indeed very powerful! I will grant you a glorious death! As a gift for your praise!"

As it spoke, its body instantly twisted and swelled, and it slammed a foot down on the transparent reef of the Beast Fighting Arena.

Seeing this, the balloon quickly flew forward.

"Your opponent is me. I’ll fight you."

The balloon’s voice remained perfectly calm.

Slaughter said no more. Its terrifying eye locked onto the tiny sphere before it, and countless strands of hostility enveloped it.

But the hostility, sharp as swords, was deflected by the strumming of the balloon’s sponge strings.

"Interesting."

Slaughter wasn’t stupid. It realized this member of its own kind was no simpleton.

"A clever application, but you’re too weak!"

As it commented, it threw a heavy punch, sending a violent gale toward the balloon in the air.

But the balloon didn’t dodge or evade. It continued to float in the air, letting the fearsome fist approach.

Slaughter’s punch was incredibly fast. As it threw the punch, its body rotated, its tail maintaining balance, concentrating all its strength into this single blow.

Its words were full of contempt, but its fighting was merciless.

If the balloon were hit by this punch, its fragile body would surely be shattered in an instant.

But it remained unhurried, giving a light strum of its sponge strings forward.

A terrifying gust from the punch arrived, and an afterimage passed through the balloon’s original position.

It missed!

Slaughter quickly retracted its fist and jumped to the side.

By now, the disdain in its eye was gone.

"I see. You diverted my hostility?"

The battle maniac instantly understood the balloon’s tactic.

It didn’t attack again. Instead, it moved around continuously, as if testing the range of the balloon’s influence.

The balloon remained floating motionlessly in the air.

Finally, Slaughter attacked again. This time, however, it didn’t opt for a heavy punch like before. Instead, its hands twisted, transforming into vines that lashed out at the balloon.

The vines twisted and tightened instantly, but they still couldn’t hit the balloon.

Slaughter didn’t stop its attack. The vines suddenly began to spin, flinging countless spikes toward the balloon.

Of course, the spikes couldn’t hit the balloon either. But after they flew past, they suddenly expanded, turning into smaller versions of Slaughter that charged at the balloon.

In an instant, the battlefield descended into chaos. Mo Ling had no choice but to temporarily retreat to Li Luo’s side.

Fatty was dumbfounded, staring blankly at the block-shaped Mo Ling.

"Transcendants can have this kind of form?"

"Idiot! A Transcendent can be any form!" the Head suddenly popped out and berated Fatty.

Li Luo, on the other hand, looked at Mo Ling with concern.

"How did you turn into this again?"

Just as Mo Ling was about to answer, a Crystal Stone flew from the sky, hurtling toward them.

Slaughter was trying all sorts of ways to attack the balloon, testing the limits of its endurance.

’I have to go help it.’

The balloon was starting to struggle to parry and was now dodging.

"Wait, take this."

Li Luo took off the Purple rope bracelet from her hand and slipped it onto Mo Ling’s wrist.

Mo Ling nodded at her. They shared a silent understanding, and he said no more, turning to fly toward the balloon.

Slaughter’s tempestuous voice echoed continuously throughout the Beast Fighting Arena.

"I understand now. You can divert hostility, but you’re too slow. I just need to hit you before you can perceive the hostility, and you’ll be helpless."

"Weak. Still too weak. Heretical tricks, not the true path..."

Slaughter accelerated its attacks while splitting into more smaller versions of itself, seemingly intending to drown the balloon in hostility.

The balloon struggled to weave and dodge amidst the overwhelming attacks, simultaneously diverting hostility away.

Mo Ling was a little surprised. The balloon shouldn’t be this weak.

But it was clearly at a disadvantage now. Slaughter’s frenzied attacks were on the verge of overwhelming the balloon.

"You’re too slow!" Slaughter roared as it attacked. "If your body were just a little faster, you could attack me while diverting my hostility."

"But you’re dragged down by this frail body! You can see the hostility, but you can only divert a portion of it. You can’t dodge the rest. You’re just delaying the inevitable—a slow death!"

These words seemed to be another of Slaughter’s weapons. It aimed not only to kill its enemy’s body but also to destroy their will.

"Surviving under my hand for this long already makes you a powerful enemy, but it’s not enough! Stop struggling and accept your fate! I will grant you a glorious death!"

The balloon completely ignored Slaughter’s psychological tactics, continuing to evade the siege and narrowly escaping one fatal blow after another.

Slaughter continued to split, becoming a series of afterimages that cornered the balloon, leaving it with no escape.
