Chapter 402: Chapter 399: Never Transcended

Inside the Block, the dust had vanished completely.

In the end, Mo Ling had decided to grant the Stiffstones’ wish.

This outcome seemed to be for the best for everyone:

The Stiffstones could continue their petrification, Mo Ling would no longer have to bear that pressure, and the Divine Sacrifice Site would lose its original influence...

’Isn’t this what a god is supposed to do?’

He shouldn’t worry about the Stiffstones’ future or interfere with the race’s destiny, no matter how deeply involved he had once been.

As a god, he was supposed to be devoid of emotion, thought, and worry.

Mo Ling knew he didn’t have to be responsible for this race’s fate.

That was true "transcendence."

But right now, he still felt an emptiness inside.

Everything... had gone as they wished...

Mo Ling’s dust was exchanged for endless praise.

All the Stiffstones were cheering and leaping for joy, dancing amidst the dust that filled the sky.

They sang Mo Ling’s praises with the most beautiful words, thanked him for his gift with the highest honors, and even their sharp glares had turned into gazes of gratitude.

The whole world was celebrating.

The god-beseeching ceremony was an immense success. The god had generously fulfilled the Stiffstones’ wish.

With the dust, the petrification could continue.

The vortex swirled with the dust Mo Ling had thrown, flying higher and higher. Filled with ultimate reverence, it gave Mo Ling an earth-shattering kowtow.

The entire sky was roiling, and Mo Ling knew this was the Stiffstone race’s highest form of etiquette—flipping over their carapaces to expose their abdomens.

It represented infinite trust and respect, as well as complete submission.

"God, we will not fail Your expectations! We will surely reach the end of petrification!"

The gray vortex spun, spiraling higher and higher, until it finally disappeared into the endless clouds.

But what about the god?

Mo Ling sat silently on his bed, not saying a word.

For everyone’s safety, Mo Ling had chosen to grant the Stiffstones’ wish.

He knew that refusing their wish would have certainly led to terrible consequences.

Once a god’s majesty is gone, believers will overturn the Divine Altar, destroy the idol, and burn the temple... The greater the expectation, the greater the backlash of fury.

Mo Ling wasn’t sure if he could withstand such fury.

"Sigh." Mo Ling let out a breath.

Being a god was so exhausting...

’Do all the races that come to the Sea of Creation just want a god to grant their wishes?’

Mo Ling was still confused as to why he had so bafflingly become the god of the Stiffstones.

If he hadn’t collected so much dust beforehand, he would have had no idea how to grant the Stiffstones’ wish.

’Could it be that the Sea of Creation really just ’creates’ a god out of thin air?’

What was the principle behind it? Mo Ling had no way of knowing.

Outside the Block, as the dust disappeared, the air grew clear again.

The petrification throughout the area was carried away by the vortex, and everything within sight began to move once more.

First, the gray, petrified stripes on the immobilized glass creatures slowly vanished, and they began to swim around again as if nothing had happened.

Next was Li Luo. She suddenly took a deep breath of fresh air and looked around in confusion, clearly unaware of what had just occurred.

Meanwhile, high in the sky, the root-like petrification on the Lego Bird’s body disappeared, and it resumed its previous action, charging forward.

As it charged, its head popped out and yelled, "So what if a god has come! I’ll fight you to the death!"

After shouting this, it retracted again, hiding back inside the Lego Bird’s body.

The Lego Bird charged forward for some distance, only to find the surroundings completely empty.

It was all alone in the vast sky.

A group of jellyfish-shaped glass creatures slowly drifted over, circling the Lego Bird.

The Lego Bird froze, flapping its wings, at a complete loss.

Realizing nothing had happened, the head cautiously peeked out again.

"Where’s the god?" it asked the Lego Bird.

"I don’t know."

The head’s expression shifted as it watched the drifting school of jellyfish. Then, it suddenly whipped its gaze down toward the Block below.

"The god was killed by Transcendence!"

The Lego Bird hadn’t processed this yet. "The god was killed?"

"Yeah, Transcendence killed the Stiffstones’ god!" the head exclaimed excitedly. "Invincible Transcendence! Not even a god can restrain it! Anyone who dares to provoke Transcendence will meet a dead end! Haha!"

Seeing the head so excited, the Lego Bird was still very confused. "Did you see the god?"

"No," the head answered decisively.

"Then how do you know Transcendence killed the god?"

"The Stiffstones are brainless, but are you brainless too?" the head immediately began to curse. "A god descended, but then the god disappeared. I didn’t do it, and that human down there didn’t do it. So, did you do it?"

"But that doesn’t prove the god was killed..." the Lego Bird retorted.

"Then where’d the god go, huh?"

"Er..."

"It was killed, I tell you! Transcendence brought us here specifically to kill gods! Don’t doubt Transcendence’s will! It’s plotting something huge, and all we have to do is follow!"

The more the head spoke, the more agitated it became, and it started spouting nonsense again.

The Lego Bird was a bit dazed, stunned by the head’s tirade. But as the head’s words grew more and more outrageous, it extended an arm and stuffed the head back inside.

The Lego Bird circled back down to the ground and transformed back into the fat man.

It walked over to Li Luo, who was stretching her limbs, and asked cautiously from a distance, "Are you all right?"

"Thank you," Li Luo said directly to the fat man.

"What do you mean?" The fat man hadn’t caught on yet.

"Thanks for your help."

The fat man finally understood what Li Luo meant.

"It was nothing. Humans and my kind became friends as soon as you arrived in the Sea of Creation. Your civilization is very similar to ours, your moral standards are comparable, and humans have helped me before..."

As the fat man spoke, he seemed to grow nostalgic.

"Was it the vanguard team?" Li Luo asked curiously.

"Yes. Back then, they were mapping the Sea of Creation. I happened to have a section of the map, so I let them use it for reference. In return, they found me some information on Transcendence."

"They had information on Transcendence?"

"Of course. Humanity’s ability to gather information is probably the strongest among all the races I know. Whether it’s useful or useless, humans will collect it."

The fat man thought for a moment before continuing:

"Back then, they gave me records from other races about Transcendence. This data happened to corroborate our theories about it, which helped us in our search for a suitable divine object."

Li Luo nodded, but she was still a bit puzzled. "Didn’t you already know what kind of divine object you were looking for?"

"Of course not. Each race’s divine object is different. Ours is rather abstract, so it’s hard to define as a specific thing. We can only vaguely sense its existence."

As he spoke, the fat man looked at the Block again. "But now, we’re absolutely certain. That is the divine object we want."

Li Luo’s gaze shifted between the fat man and the Block for a moment before she said apologetically, "I can’t give it to you. It’s very important to me."

Hearing her words, the fat man shook his head. "You don’t need to give us Transcendence. As long as it’s in the Sea of Creation, our god will surely appear."

"This god you speak of... what exactly is it?" Li Luo couldn’t suppress her curiosity and asked the fat man.

The fat man continued to stare at the Block, but his gaze seemed to pierce through it, looking toward something far away.

"It’s a kind of... collection of wishes."
