I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 375 - 372: Next Stop
Chapter 375: Chapter 372: Next Stop
The island was indeed getting better and better, just as the beggar had said.
The reconstruction work also went exceptionally smoothly, as if by a miracle.
An official fleet happened to take notice of the situation on Paradise Island and promised to expedite a shipment of supplies.
Watching the changes on Paradise Island, Mo Ling couldn’t help but marvel at the immense power of the Cup of Lies.
’I wonder what the price is...’
For such a powerful relic, the price must also be terrifying.
Still, thinking of the beggar’s past, Mo Ling sighed.
Perhaps the beggar had already paid the unknown price long ago.
After seeing what the beggar did, Mo Ling realized that the supplies probably hadn’t been left on the docks by "accident." The beggar had likely arranged everything long before Li Luo even arrived.
He had told a lie so that Li Luo could accept the supplies with a clear conscience.
After securing sufficient supplies, Li Luo began preparing to leave the island.
Because of her earlier memory confusion, she had missed the ferry that would have taken her deeper into the sea route.
But that ship had since returned and would be setting out again before long.
Before she left, Li Luo made a point of visiting everyone she knew on the island...
The island’s power had been restored. Lin Nian was busy helping Jitai build a new body, with Jitai assisting her.
Li Luo stood at the entrance of the newly built research institute, watching the two of them for a long while.
She waited until they were finished before she approached and told Lin Nian she was leaving.
"You can stop and rest sometimes. Don’t push yourself so hard. The Abyss isn’t going anywhere..." Lin Nian advised, seeing how anxious Li Luo was.
Li Luo studied Lin Nian carefully for a moment before stepping forward and giving her a hug.
"I’m afraid that if I stop, I’ll never want to leave again."
In front of this person she considered family, Li Luo gave a rare show of emotion.
This was the very reason she was always in such a hurry, unwilling to linger anywhere for too long.
It wasn’t that she was decisive, but rather that she was running away.
Running from emotions that were growing deeper and deeper.
Only by constantly pushing forward could she escape the bonds of those feelings.
Hearing Li Luo’s explanation, a complex look passed through Lin Nian’s eyes. She seemed to want to say something, but in the end, all she did was sigh.
"Is everything ready?"
"Yes," Li Luo replied meekly.
Lin Nian simply patted Li Luo’s head, saying nothing more.
Jitai was the same. It didn’t say a word, but it took Li Luo’s dataslate and transferred some files onto it.
"What’s this?" Li Luo asked curiously.
"The situation at the end of the sea route is rather complex. I put some information on there for you. You should look it over when you have time on the ship."
"Thank you," Li Luo said, nodding to Jitai.
"Jin Lou told me to tell you to be safe," Jitai said impassively.
"I will."
The two still had work to do, so Li Luo didn’t linger. She immediately set off again, continuing her rounds on the island.
She found Si Yang in front of a building that was under construction.
It was sitting to one side, organizing its tools.
"You’re leaving so soon?" Si Yang sounded surprised to hear Li Luo’s news.
"Yes. I came to say goodbye."
"Where are you headed?" Si Yang asked curiously.
"The fourth level of the Abyss, the fifth level... all the way down."
At Li Luo’s words, the movements of Si Yang’s hands came to a halt.
"That’s so far... I’ve never been anywhere that far. I’ve been traveling for so long, but I’ve only ever been on the third level." Si Yang’s voice was filled with a boundless sense of yearning.
"Once the reconstruction of Paradise Island is finished, I think I’ll return home to replace my current body. Then I’ll set out again..."
"Are you also going to the Bottom of the Abyss?" Li Luo asked curiously.
"No, I want to travel the entire Infinite Sea," Si Yang said eagerly. "I want to revisit the islands I’ve been to before and see what’s become of their architecture. I also want to visit old comrades-in-arms and see the buildings of other races..."
Si Yang gestured excitedly as it spoke.
Whenever the topic of architecture came up, it would get extremely excited, chattering on and on about all sorts of things.
Li Luo listened intently as it went from architecture to culture, and then to the history of the various Abyssal Races...
"The end of the sea route you’re heading to is a cultural melting pot, of sorts. You’ll probably encounter a lot of strange races. You need to be careful not to get into any conflicts."
"What kind of place is that?"
"A region of the sea with many races... or maybe it’s land..." Si Yang scratched its head, unsure how to explain.
"You’ll understand when you get there. It’s hard for me to describe it specifically."
Hearing this ambiguous answer, Li Luo sighed in resignation.
’Looks like I’ll have to carefully study the data Jitai sent over.’
Time was short. Li Luo said goodbye to Si Yang and hurried toward the docks.
A strange-looking white ship was already moored at the shore.
The ship was shaped like a long shuttle, its hull long and narrow. The bow was like a sharp cone wrapped in a thick protective layer.
As the water shifted, the bow spun continuously, churning the sea like a drill bit. The hull twisted along with the bow’s rotation, as if adjusting its heading.
A few robots stood atop the ship, performing maintenance with various devices.
"Please wait a moment. The vessel is still undergoing calibration." A robot blocked Li Luo’s path, instructing her to wait where she was.
"What are you calibrating?"
"Calibrating steering precision," the robot replied tonelessly.
’Steering?’
’What a strange way to steer.’
The ship steered by "rolling" in the water, using the rotation of its bow to change the direction of its long hull.
After watching for a moment, Li Luo finally understood how it worked.
’I see. No wonder it needs to be calibrated.’
That kind of steering method would certainly require a high degree of precision.
Meanwhile, Mo Ling’s vision sank into the strange ship.
The ship’s interior wasn’t particularly strange. It was very similar to The Paradise, the ship she had taken before, just with a few more components for controlling the rotation of the bow.
The hull also seemed much thicker than a normal vessel’s, and it was a very uniform thickness. The space between the outer hull and the inner cabins was filled with a soft, cushioning substance.
Upon seeing the cushioning, Mo Ling realized the ship must travel through an extremely harsh environment to require so much protection.
’The journey ahead is probably going to be rough.’
After a period of calibration, the ship finally stopped spinning and slowly pulled up to the shore.
"You may board now, ma’am. Please register with me."
Li Luo was still staring at the ship and didn’t react at first, startled by the robot’s voice.
"Alright." She stepped forward and began to register her information.
However, unlike on her previous voyages, the bottom of the registration page was filled with densely packed warnings. They were written in a particularly conspicuous, almost blinding, red font.
