I'm Trapped in the Block
Chapter 352 - 349: The Power of Building
Chapter 352: Chapter 349: The Power of Building
Jin Lou stared in shock at the white Giant God in the sky, not daring to move a muscle.
The tremors in the ground had stopped. The white light was blocked by the Giant God’s body, leaving only a vast shadow.
Although Li Luo was still blindfolded, she could feel the atmosphere instantly become oppressive.
Jin Lou stared intently at the Giant God and finally saw it clearly. The Giant God’s body was wrapped in layers of thick, white stone armor, completely seamless. The material was identical to that of the soldiers on the surrounding city walls.
"What in the world is he trying to do?" Jin Lou couldn’t help but exclaim, looking at the terrifying Giant God.
As the Giant God’s deep, resonant voice echoed, everything within the city walls seemed to come to life.
The soldiers on the city walls started running about, continuously loading ammunition into the cannons. Some other soldiers raised bow-like weapons, aiming at the two people surrounded by the walls.
"An enclosure... a barbican? He wants to trap and kill us!"
Jin Lou quickly realized this.
It anxiously looked at Block. "You must destroy those weapons quickly! Don’t let them finish preparing!"
Mo Ling, of course, was thinking the same thing. His teleportation frame was already aimed at the cannons.
Before long, Mo Ling had dismantled the cannons on the wall, leaving them in pieces.
’They’re all made of stone.’
As Mo Ling continued teleporting, he was surprised to discover that everything on the city walls seemed to be made of that white, glowing stone.
’Even the soldiers, too.’
Mo Ling had originally thought these soldiers were minions "summoned" by the Builder, but now it seemed they were all "built."
After dealing with all the cannons and soldiers on the city walls, Mo Ling quickly looked toward the Giant God still floating in the sky. That was the true source of the crisis.
’Alright, let’s see what you really look like.’
His vision penetrated the thick layer of white stone armor.
But after passing through the stone armor, Mo Ling was stunned.
Beneath the stone armor was another layer of stone armor.
’Huh?’
Mo Ling, unconvinced, continued to probe deeper.
However, beneath that layer of stone armor was yet another. The Giant God was like a nesting doll, wrapped in layer after layer of perfectly sealed stone armor.
Mo Ling passed through layer after layer until he reached the center of the Giant God’s stone armor, and he was dumbfounded.
At the very center of the stone armor was just a "built" stone figure, identical to the soldiers on the city walls outside.
’I fell for it!’
’This incredibly conspicuous Giant God is just a feint, meant to draw my attention. His real body isn’t here at all!’
Mo Ling quickly teleported the humanoid figure from the center of the Giant God, stripping it out and tossing it aside.
But, just as he’d thought, it was only a feint. The towering Giant God was completely unharmed.
The Giant God’s movements didn’t stop. Seemingly realizing the barbican was ineffective, its hands began to move again.
It held its left hand out flat, palm down with fingers spread. Then, it extended its right index finger and thrust it up from below, passing through the gaps between its left-hand fingers.
"Build: Tomb!"
The stone armor plates all over its body scraped against each other as that deep, resonant voice sounded again.
Everything in the surroundings began to change once more.
The ground, which had stopped shaking, began to tremble slightly again, as if something were quietly brewing within the fine bits of coal.
Sensing something was wrong, Jin Lou quickly moved away from the areas that were shaking more and more violently.
Just as it leaped away, white stone pillars of varying heights suddenly sprouted from the coal, looking eerily like human fingers.
As more and more pillars rose, the ground beneath them began to swell into small mounds.
Jin Lou looked at the bizarre scene, connected it to the Giant God’s words, and suddenly understood everything.
"Are those... tombstones?"
Mo Ling had also been staring at the pillars in confusion, unable to figure out the situation. When he heard Jin Lou, it suddenly dawned on him.
’This must be another one of the Builder’s attacks.’
’Right now, I still haven’t found the Builder’s true body. All I can do is weather these strange attacks.’
With this in mind, Mo Ling quickly aimed his teleportation frame at the tombstones. No matter what the Builder was brewing, he had to stop it in its tracks.
The tombstones weren’t very tall, and Mo Ling quickly finished clearing them away.
However, once the tombstones were gone, the mounds of earth became unusually active.
Immediately after, phantom-like human figures suddenly flew out from within the mounds.
These figures looked identical to the previous soldiers and also had stone bodies, but they seemed faint and indistinct, utterly illusory. Their movements were also incredibly agile, and they would occasionally dive into the ground.
Mo Ling looked at the tombstones and the mounds, and an unsettling thought suddenly crossed his mind:
’Destroying the tombstones is what makes these soldiers appear?’
After observing for a moment, Mo Ling discovered that was indeed the case.
Only from beneath the tombstones that Mo Ling had destroyed did these ghost-like soldiers emerge.
He’d been tricked again.
It seemed the Builder had set this trap specifically to counter Mo Ling’s method of attack, waiting for him to destroy the objects.
Realizing something was wrong, Mo Ling quickly stopped destroying the tombstones.
But it seemed to be too late. The mounds beneath the damaged tombstones loosened one after another, and ghost soldiers crawled out.
The ghost soldiers had just appeared when they quickly burrowed back into the ground, roaming through the coal at incredible speed.
They gathered beneath Jin Lou, constantly ready for a sneak attack.
Jin Lou also sensed the danger and could only keep changing its position, but the ghost soldiers pursued it relentlessly.
Fortunately, this wasn’t much of a problem for Mo Ling. His vision could penetrate anywhere, making the underground no different from the surface.
After he stopped destroying the tombstones, no more ghost soldiers appeared. Their numbers were limited. What Mo Ling had to do now was "pluck" the soldiers hiding underground out one by one.
He guided Jin Lou to dodge while fending off the soldiers attacking it. Soon, Mo Ling had wiped out every last one of the eerie soldiers.
However, Mo Ling was still a little shaken.
’Good thing I noticed early. If I had destroyed too many tombstones and these ghost soldiers had formed a large group, they would have been really hard to deal with.’
If it weren’t for Mo Ling’s teleportation ability, this type of attack, which couldn’t be physically touched, would have been devastating.
At this thought, Mo Ling grew even more wary of the Builder.
’Bizarre abilities, extraordinary combat intelligence, and a true body I still haven’t found... Just where did this Builder come from?’
Although Mo Ling had easily neutralized both attacks, he still had no way to deal with the Builder.
’Because I have to focus on countering the Builder’s attacks, I can’t spare the energy to search for his true body. If this keeps up, it’s just a slow death.’
’I have to find a breakthrough.’
As Mo Ling was thinking, the Builder’s hands began to change once more.
