I'm the Only Magus in This Witch World
Chapter 180: Who Is Magna?
Hecate fell deep into thought, trying to understand what the boy really was, as walking between realms wasn’t a trait or spell just anyone could possess.
It was even beyond the mere Bloodline Trait of simply breaking seals and entrances.
Magna seemed to possess some kind of ability that allowed him not only to walk between other realms, but perhaps even to have some control over them.
Opening a door for Titus’s brother from the Fairy Realm so he could escape from an unknown realm was one thing.
The realms were separated from each other by the labyrinth of time and space, so Magna first had to travel from the Witch World to the Fairy Hive, find his way through it, open the right door, and rescue Titus’s brother from an entirely different realm. It wasn’t something as simple as using a GPS to find the right location.
Then there was the Underworld.
Magna had not only entered it, but somehow found the place where souls passed through, located Titus’s soul there, brought him back, and even released many other souls to help his family.
But how had Magna even learned that his family was under attack and that Titus had died in the first place?
The answer had to be something more than what could be explained by luck. It was like the work of Fate.
Whatever power the boy possessed, it was as mysterious as it was terrifying.
Hecate had so many questions running through her mind that connecting all the dots would take time.
She was certain she would only discover the truth when she found Magna.
After a long silence, Celeste finally asked worriedly, "Is Magna alright?"
She already understood that the Grand Witch was here because of the boy, as something had apparently happened to him at the Shadow camp or at the Tower, though by now she wasn’t even sure where he was.
Until the Grand Witch finally revealed his whereabouts.
"He is currently in the Underworld."
Celeste and Titus immediately became worried upon hearing that he was in such a dangerous place, but their concern eased with Hecate’s next words.
"Don’t worry. Arthas is there to find him and bring him back."
At least it was clear that Hecate wasn’t assuming Magna was dead or anything like that. She had sent her own Shadow after him and sounded completely confident that Arthas would find him and bring him back.
After learning everything she could from them, Hecate slowly stood up, and the others immediately rose as well out of respect.
She looked at them for a while, seemingly thinking about something, before asking in a serious tone, "Is the conflict between your alliance still going on?"
Normally, she wouldn’t have cared about what other Witch families, especially weaker ones like these, were doing. Yet she looked quite serious as she asked the question.
Aveline Rosewood, the highest-ranking Witch in the room from the alliance, answered with a bow of her head. "Yes, Lady Hecate. We’re currently in a resource war."
Hecate nodded before speaking again, her tone leaving little room for argument. "I want you to stop the conflict until I tell you otherwise. I’ll also send a message to the other families."
It was surprising, even shocking, to hear a Grand Witch directly order them to stop fighting their enemy, but they accepted it without even asking why.
They could more or less guess the reason anyway. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
It was definitely about Magna.
The boy had somehow gained the ability to travel between realms and had helped Titus twice in ways none of them could understand. Hecate was simply making sure they remained safe so Magna would not have to interfere with the realms again.
She then looked at Rowena and Celeste. "Your daughter and granddaughter are in the Tower, right?"
The 2 instantly nodded.
"Good. I’ll keep an eye on them, so don’t worry about them. Just try to stay safe."
As her final words faded from the room, her body suddenly disappeared from their sight.
Silence filled the room for a long while.
Finally, Aveline turned toward the 2 Witches with a shocked and confused expression.
"Who exactly is Magna?"
She was so bewildered that she felt like she might go crazy trying to understand why a Grand Witch would personally visit Celeste and Rowena, 2 mid-Trial Witches, wish them well, tell them to stay safe, and even put an end to an ongoing conflict just to make sure they remained unharmed.
Just from this, it was clear that whoever the boy named Magna was, he was definitely very important to the Grand Witch.
—
The next day, after the Grand Witch’s visit to the Winterborne family, every family within the Black Forest territory received a direct message from her.
It was already shocking enough for any of them to receive a direct message from one of the Grand Witches, but what made it even more surprising was its content.
It was a direct order to end their current conflict, along with a warning that the Tower would intervene if there was even the slightest hostile action from that point onward.
There was even a message that left everyone stunned, stating that the Winterborne family was under the patronage of Hecate Kingsley.
The families were confused and shocked after receiving the message and started desperately trying to understand why someone at the very top of the Witch hierarchy would personally interfere in such a small conflict and place a no-name family like Winterborne under her patronage.
Rumors spread quickly.
Soon, among all those rumors, only 1 name started to stand out.
Magna.
This caught the attention of one particular family from the northern part of the Black Forest.
Inside the study of a massive mansion, Narcissa Nightshade sat behind her desk, holding a letter in her hand with a deep frown on her face.
"Magna. 8 to 9 years old. Origin unknown. Found by the Winterborne family inside a goblin cave." The letter contained the information gathered by the spies she had sent out.
Like every other family, she naturally wanted to know who the boy was and why he had caught the attention of a Grand Witch. She had mobilized her entire network to uncover everything they could about his past.
But despite all the resources she had spent and all the people she had mobilized, this was all the information they had managed to find.
She suddenly stood up in anger, crumpled the report in her hand, and threw it at the bronze skeleton wearing rusty armor in front of her.
"How the hell did a goblin find him? It’s not like the kid just fell from the sky. Who are his parents? Where did he come from? Can’t you people dig up anything better than this?"
Her Shadow lowered its head under her scolding and backed away until it disappeared into the shadows of the room to search for more information.
After watching it disappear, Narcissa sat back down and rubbed her temples, trying to calm herself.
She was angry simply because there had been a gold mine named Magna living in a cave for years, yet she hadn’t been the one to find him.
"Just what kind of idiot family would abandon a child like that?" She muttered, mocking the parents for being blind enough to abandon such a priceless gem.
