I'm Not Your Husband, You Evil Dragon!
Chapter 325: A Law He Shouldn’t Know
The newcomer’s expression slowly changed as he studied the aftermath of the battle.
Moonlight fell across his appearance, revealing long red hair, two straight horns rising from his head and a pair of glowing golden eyes. His face had initially been cold, but the longer he looked around the destroyed street, the more that calm expression twisted into disbelief and fury. Demonic energy began leaking uncontrollably from his body, spreading across the road as his fists slowly tightened.
Zeri was dead.
General Malakar was dead.
The sight made no sense to him.
His golden eyes moved between their bodies several times, as though expecting one of them to suddenly rise. Both had received his blood, and the regeneration granted to them should have made killing them extraordinarily difficult. Zeri in particular could regenerate from injuries that should have ended him instantly, while General Malakar possessed an even more terrifying level of recovery.
Yet neither of them was moving.
"Impossible..." he muttered, staring at General Malakar’s corpse before turning toward Zeri’s torn remains. "Even with my blood... even with that regeneration..."
For the first time, he began to understand how badly he had underestimated the humans involved in tonight’s battle. He had treated this invasion as something that should have proceeded according to plan, never imagining that two demons possessing such regenerative abilities could actually be killed here.
His fist tightened until his claws dug into his palm.
"I was ignorant."
Then his gaze shifted.
Yuuta.
The anger on the demon’s face slowly disappeared as he stared at the unconscious young man lying beneath the moonlight. His golden eyes narrowed, and for several seconds he didn’t move at all.
"Black hair..."
Something about those two words changed him completely.
He walked toward Yuuta, the deaths of Zeri and General Malakar seemingly forgotten for the moment. His steps became faster until he finally reached Yuuta and knelt beside him.
The demon stared at Yuuta’s face.
His fingers began trembling.
"No..."
He leaned closer.
"It can’t be."
With one hand, he carefully lifted Yuuta’s eyelid.
The moment he saw what was underneath, his golden eyes widened.
A crimson eye stared lifelessly back at him beneath Yuuta’s unconscious eyelid, but it wasn’t merely the color that caught his attention. There was something distinct within the pupil itself, something the demon seemed to recognize immediately.
His breathing stopped.
After centuries of searching, there was no possibility that he would mistake those eyes.
His trembling finger moved closer until it gently touched near Yuuta’s eye, as though he needed physical confirmation that what he was seeing wasn’t another hallucination created by centuries of obsession.
The demon remained frozen for several seconds.
Then a smile slowly appeared across his face.
"At last..."
His voice trembled.
"I found you."
The demon stared at Yuuta with an almost fanatical expression, his earlier fury replaced by overwhelming relief.
"I finally found you... Children of Chaos."
He laughed quietly, unable to contain himself as memories returned to him.
"So I wasn’t a fool. I wasn’t hallucinating when I saw you at the zoo." His fingers trembled even more as he studied Yuuta’s face. "I knew it. The moment I saw you, I knew you were the one. I tried so hard to get to you that day, but you disappeared from my grasp."
He lowered Yuuta’s eyelid again, almost carefully this time.
"But it doesn’t matter anymore. You’re here now."
His smile widened.
"My final sacrifice."
The demon slid one arm beneath Yuuta’s back and another beneath his legs before lifting him from the road.
"And my final hope of seeing the God of Shadow."
There was reverence in his voice when he spoke those words. Whatever anger he had felt over Zeri and General Malakar had become secondary. Finding Yuuta seemed to matter far more than either of their deaths.
The demon rose with Yuuta unconscious in his arms and turned away from the battlefield.
He took one step.
Then tried to take another.
His body wouldn’t move.
The demon frowned.
He pushed more strength into his leg, but it remained fixed in place as though the space surrounding his body had suddenly hardened. His golden eyes narrowed as demonic energy surged around him, yet even with that power, he couldn’t force himself forward.
"What...?"
A voice calmly answered from behind him.
"May I know where you’re taking my disciple, little demon?"
The demon’s expression immediately changed.
His head slowly turned.
Someone was standing several meters behind him.
Isvarn Vely Dragomir.
The old man stood beneath the moonlight with his hands relaxed at his sides, staring directly at the horned demon holding Yuuta. There was no panic on his face despite the corpses, destroyed buildings and overwhelming demonic energy surrounding them.
But the presence around Isvarn was different.
Something enormous seemed to loom behind him.
In one arm, Isvarn gently held Elena against his chest. The little girl remained unconscious, completely exhausted after everything she had endured.
Yet despite holding a child, Isvarn’s presence was anything but gentle.
The demon’s golden eyes narrowed as his instincts suddenly registered a presence that felt almost like an ancient dragon had opened its eyes directly in front of him. The pressure didn’t need to explode across the city. It simply existed around Isvarn, heavy enough that the demon immediately understood the old man before him was nothing like the humans he had encountered tonight.
Isvarn’s gaze moved down toward Yuuta.
Then back to the demon.
His expression remained calm.
"Put the boy down."
The demon tightened his hold on Yuuta while his own demonic energy rose around him, and for the first time since finding the Child of Chaos, the excitement disappeared from his golden eyes.
Isvarn continued staring at him.
He hadn’t moved even once, yet somehow the demon still couldn’t take another step. The invisible pressure surrounding his body held him in place, preventing him from carrying Yuuta even a single meter farther.
Then, unexpectedly, the demon began to laugh.
"Hahahaha... Hahahahahaha!"
His laughter echoed through the silent ruins of Yuno City, growing louder until it sounded almost delighted. Isvarn didn’t interrupt him. The old man simply closed his eyes and waited patiently, allowing the demon to finish whatever realization had apparently amused him so much.
Eventually, the laughter died down.
The demon looked at Isvarn again, and this time there was a strange mixture of amusement and respect in his golden eyes.
"Oh, my... How terribly negligent of me."
His gaze slowly moved over Isvarn, studying the old man much more carefully than before.
"To think I failed to recognize something so conspicuous. Never, even in my most unreasonable conjectures, did I imagine that this insignificant world would shelter two dragons."
Isvarn’s eyes opened.
For the first time, his attention sharpened.
He stared directly into the demon’s golden eyes, and something about them disturbed an old memory buried deep within him. He was certain he had seen eyes like those somewhere before. The feeling lasted only briefly, however, and Isvarn pushed it aside rather than allowing himself to become distracted.
"So even a demon dwelling upon this Earth possesses knowledge of our existence."
The demon gave a small laugh before shaking his head with the manner of a gentleman correcting a minor misunderstanding.
"I fear that description is somewhat inaccurate, Great One. I may presently inhabit this world, but I do not belong to it."
He carefully lowered Yuuta back onto the ground. The movement was deliberate and gentle, making it clear he understood that continuing to hold Isvarn’s disciple would only make the situation worse.
Once Yuuta was safely down, the demon straightened his clothes before placing one hand over his chest and bowing respectfully.
"Allow me to introduce myself properly in your presence."
His red hair shifted slightly beneath the returning night wind, while the two straight horns above his head remained clearly visible beneath the moonlight.
"My name is Allen."
Isvarn said nothing.
Allen raised his head, and a faint smile appeared across his face.
"I am a devoted follower of the God of Shadow."
Those words caused Isvarn’s gaze to sharpen further.
"And in this world..." Allen continued calmly, "they call me the Demon King."
For a moment, neither of them spoke. Allen’s enormous demonic presence still surrounded the ruined street, yet Isvarn remained completely unaffected by it.
"But I was not born in this world," Allen added. "My true home is the Demonic Realm."
Understanding slowly appeared in Isvarn’s eyes.
"Oh, I see."
Allen watched him carefully.
"So you’re one of the demons who escaped the fate imposed by the Goddess of Contract."
Allen’s smile remained, but something briefly changed behind his golden eyes.
"Yes, Great One. I was fortunate enough to be summoned into this world."
"Interesting," Isvarn murmured. "So while your kind remains chained within the Demonic Realm, you managed to escape."
Isvarn’s gaze moved toward Yuuta for a moment before returning to Allen.
"You are certainly one of the wisest and most cunning beings I’ve encountered in this world. You recognized what I am, understood enough to lower my disciple without being ordered twice, and you clearly know far more than an ordinary demon should."
Isvarn took one slow step forward.
"But I don’t believe you’re foolish enough to risk everything for that young man."
The atmosphere changed.
Until that moment, Isvarn’s presence had merely prevented Allen from leaving. Now, for the first time, he allowed a fraction of his true aura to emerge.
Allen’s expression froze.
The road beneath his feet cracked instantly. The remaining windows throughout the surrounding buildings trembled, while the air itself seemed to become unbearably heavy. Whatever demonic pressure Allen had released moments earlier was swallowed beneath something vastly greater.
Allen’s knees struck the ground.
His golden eyes widened.
He had felt powerful beings before. He had survived an entire world that no longer existed, lived for centuries and gathered monsters beneath his command, yet the presence pressing down on him now existed on a completely different scale from what he had expected.
Isvarn stared down at him.
"You know what happens to those who lay their hands upon a dragon’s disciple."
Despite being forced onto his knees, Allen didn’t panic. He lowered his head respectfully while keeping that strange calm smile on his face.
"Yes, Great One. I know."
He slowly raised his eyes.
"And I’m not foolish enough to throw away my life by offending you."
"Then we understand each other."
"However..."
Isvarn’s eyes narrowed.
Allen’s smile grew slightly.
"I would also hesitate to believe that a being of your age and stature would be so negligent as to disregard the Law of Deity."
The pressure around them stopped.
Isvarn stared at Allen.
Allen remained kneeling, but there was no longer submission in his expression. He had deliberately spoken those words because he knew exactly what they meant.
Allen slowly raised his head.
"Surely one of the Seven has not forgotten the law that came with his title."
Isvarn’s eyes widened.
For the first time since arriving on the battlefield, genuine surprise appeared upon the old dragon’s face.
The immense pressure surrounding Allen weakened.
"You..."
Allen’s smile remained perfectly calm.
Isvarn stared into those golden eyes.
That feeling returned.
He had seen them before.
Somewhere.
At some point in the distant past.
And now this demon knew of the Law of Deity.
A law he should never have known.
Isvarn’s expression became completely serious.
"Who are you?"
Allen slowly smiled.
