The beautiful girl sniffled, sharply turning her face away from Shen Yuan’s scorching gaze. All he could see was the profile of her crimson face and her trembling eyelashes.

Li Zhi’s voice, still thick and nasal, was no longer shrill. The words squeezed out from between her lips in a sullen mumble.

As she finished speaking, she also "accidentally" stepped on Shen Yuan’s toes as an added punishment.

"You... You stay away from me! Don’t be so clingy!"

After speaking, as if to declare her resolve and her sovereignty over this "territory," Li Zhi scooted back demonstratively, sinking deeper into the warm pile of blankets and pillows.

She tugged the large pillow she was hugging higher, nearly hiding half of her burning face. Only a pair of glistening, warning-filled eyes remained visible, staring unblinkingly at Shen Yuan.

At the same time, Li Zhi also scooped up a bewildered-looking Naonao, forming a feline defensive line.

Outside the window, the winter daylight quietly shifted.

Inside the room, the warm air from the heater carried the familiar, intermingled scents of the two of them.

Shen Yuan looked at the girl on the bed, who had wrapped herself up like a furball ready for battle, and shook his head helplessly.
