Chapter 571: Chapter 238: Go Lie on the Bed for a While

Time seemed to lose all meaning, leaving only the frantic pounding in their chests.

After what felt like an eternity, the two slowly parted.

A muffled, breathy sound escaped Li Zhi’s parted lips.

She gasped for air, as if she had used up every last bit of oxygen.

The moment her eyes met Shen Yuan’s, Li Zhi abruptly buried her burning, tingling face in the warm crook of his neck. Her tightly shut eyes quivered violently, betraying the storm still raging within her.

Her arms, draped around his neck and shoulders, felt weak. She was almost entirely supported by Shen Yuan’s arm, which remained wrapped firmly around her waist.

Shen Yuan’s chest was also heaving, his hot breath washing over the crown of Li Zhi’s head.

He instinctively tilted his head, gently nuzzling his chin against the corner of her smooth forehead. The lingering softness on his lips and her unique, sweet scent filled his chest with an unprecedented sense of satisfaction and a thrill he’d never known.

The room was silent save for their ragged breathing.

On the bed, San Geng and Naonao tilted their little heads. Their round eyes stared unblinkingly at their owners’ flushed ears and tightly embraced bodies, and they let out a few faint, questioning meows.

Finally, Li Zhi was the first to stir.

She shook her head slightly, her face still buried in the crook of his neck. Her hair brushed against his heated skin, creating a faint tickle.

A muffled accusation, full of bashfulness, came from the crook of his neck once more.

"Dumbass..."

Her voice was soft and breathy, laced with a post-kiss moistness. Where was any trace of her usual sharpness?

She was just like a little animal whose fur had been completely ruffled, able to do nothing more than let out a helpless whimper.

A low sound, full of amusement and affection, rumbled in Shen Yuan’s throat.

He slightly loosened his grip on her waist but didn’t pull his arm away, just allowing her to lean against him more comfortably. He felt her breathing, rapid yet clinging, as if she were recovering from a great ordeal.

In the quiet intimacy that followed, the heat of their first kiss silently spread, settling deep within them as they held each other.

A moment later, the young man lowered his head slightly. His gaze, as gentle as the warm sun, fell upon the fluffy head nestled against his neck.

Noticing that she had begun to settle in his arms, Shen Yuan gently nuzzled the top of her head with his chin and coaxed in a low voice, "Li Bao?"

Li Zhi stiffened for a second, as if hesitating.

After a moment, her deeply buried face finally, slowly, lifted.

Her face, flushed crimson, held a dewy shyness. Her long eyelashes fluttered like a butterfly’s wings as they slowly lifted.

Her glistening eyes met Shen Yuan’s deep ones. Reflected clearly within them was her own image, and his gaze was filled with a lingering, profound tenderness, as well as a trace of smug satisfaction. His eyes were startlingly bright.

The air grew thick once more.

The lingering sensation on her lips seemed to reignite under his gaze. Li Zhi’s heart skipped a beat, and just as she was about to look away...

Just then, a soft, delicate "Meow~" full of curiosity, clearly reached their ears.

San Geng and Naonao had, at some point, made their way to the edge of the bed. Tilting their little heads, four round, unblinking cat eyes were staring at the two of them with extreme Concentration.

Their gazes were pure and inquisitive, as if they were determined to thoroughly analyze the strange interaction that had just occurred between their mom and dad.

Li Zhi’s breath caught in her throat!

WHOOSH—!

Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on—

No, it was even worse than that!

A wave of heat a hundred times more intense than when their lips and tongues had been tangled together shot from the soles of her feet straight to the crown of her head with a *WHOOSH*!

The blush that had yet to fade from the lovely girl’s face instantly deepened, spreading from her cheeks all the way down her neck until she looked like she was about to start smoking.

She shot back into Shen Yuan’s arms.

"Shen... Yuan—!!!"

Li Zhi’s voice shot up, filled with the immense mortification of being "watched." It nearly cracked.

She raised a trembling finger, pointing at the two pairs of clear, innocent eyes at the edge of the bed—gazes filled with the wide-eyed questioning of a ’curious kitty.’

"You!!! You, you, you... Look what you’ve done!!"

The lovely girl was a flustered, incoherent mess. Her mortified, indignant glare could have pierced right through Shen Yuan. "It’s all because of you... you Selaan dumbass!! Look! You’re corrupting the kittens!!"

She pointed at San Geng and Naonao’s pure, clueless eyes.

To the young woman, their gazes felt exactly like being caught by her own children during an R-rated live broadcast.

—though the two little kittens were probably just wondering why their mom and dad were stuck together, motionless, and breathing so heavily.

"They’re! They’re watching!!"

Li Zhi stomped her foot in frustration, as if this mortifying scene was all Shen Yuan’s fault for being a "bad influence."

Her wide eyes glistened with unshed tears, as if she might burst into tears of shame and frustration at any moment.

The scorching memory still burning on her lips, now compounded by the interrogation of her pure little kittens’ gazes, made the lovely girl feel like she was about to spontaneously combust!

Shen Yuan snapped out of his daze and looked at the adorable, flustered Li Bao before him. Then he glanced down at San Geng and Naonao, who were still completely clueless by the side of the bed.

"Pfft..."

A low chuckle he couldn’t hold back finally escaped his throat.

His laughter was laced with the satisfaction of a wish finally fulfilled, but it was mostly filled with fondness and amusement at his girlfriend’s adorably naive attempt to be shy while forcefully shifting the blame.

He tightened his arm around Li Zhi’s waist and deliberately lowered his head again, nuzzling her burning ear. In a soft, teasing whisper, he coaxed,

"Li Bao~ What’s there to panic about?"

He chuckled, deliberately drawing out her name as his gaze swept over the two pairs of round cat eyes by the bed.
