Chapter 503: Chapter 225: My Leg is Sore

Beneath the lamplight, Shen Yuan was hunched over, drowning in a sea of science problems. Li Zhi sat beside him, her head slightly bowed as a strand of hair slipped down her cheek. She, too, began to write and calculate with intense focus.

The only sounds were the faint scratching of pen on paper and the occasional whisper of wind from outside, weaving together a tranquil yet warm moment of youthful diligence.

Time slipped by quietly until Shen Yuan finally finished one of the test papers.

He set down his pen and rubbed his sore wrist. A wave of accomplishment washed over him; conquering the problems had invigorated him.

However, when he looked up, he noticed that Li Zhi, sitting beside him, had already breezed through three test papers!

Her speed...

While Shen Yuan’s powers of concentration were formidable, Li Zhi was clearly a cut above when it came to speed.

With her fluid penmanship and lightning-fast comprehension, the problems simply melted away before her.

Of course, there was another reason: Li Zhi had already done the problems once before while checking Shen Yuan’s papers.

Shen Yuan saw her still hunched over and organizing her homework, so he decided not to disturb her. He simply pulled another paper from the stack of practice exams and began working on it.

Under the effects of Concentration, Shen Yuan quickly fell back into a state of intense problem-solving.

Oh, but of course, before he started, Shen Yuan "recharged his batteries" for a moment by taking a good, long look at Li Zhi’s long legs.

After finishing the last chemistry problem, Li Zhi gently rubbed her slightly sore wrist. The long hours hunched over the desk had left her feeling a little fatigued.

Her gaze naturally drifted to Shen Yuan, who was still scribbling furiously beside her.

Watching his focused profile and the ceaseless movement of his pen, the sense of satisfaction she felt from his diligence only grew.

She casually picked up the test paper Shen Yuan had finished and set aside, beginning to check it question by question.

As she scanned the clearly answered problems, the corners of Li Zhi’s mouth turned up in an unconscious smile.

Shen Yuan’s progress was obvious.

’This rascal... Not only is he fast now, but his steps are clear and his accuracy is incredibly high.’

Her fingertips gently traced the neat handwriting on the paper. Li Zhi tilted her head slightly, her eyes landing on her focused boyfriend beside her.

Satisfied, she gently placed the paper back down. She rested her chin on her slender fingers, gazing at Shen Yuan’s focused profile as her thoughts drifted away, tinged with a subtle sweetness.

’This guy... he’s working so hard. What kind of reward should I give him later?’

Shen Yuan scribbled away at the test before him.

He’d occasionally get stuck on a problem, but after a bit of thought and deduction, the solution would come to him.

Beside him, Li Zhi looked over the paper Shen Yuan had completed earlier. Her brow would occasionally furrow, but more often than not, she would smile in approval of his thought process.

As time passed, the clock ticked past 9:30, and Shen Yuan finally conquered the second test paper.

"Nnnngh—"

Shen Yuan gave a long stretch and turned to look at Li Zhi.

"Li Bao, I finished this one too."

Before Shen Yuan could even ask for a reward, Li Zhi gently pressed a hand on his wrist.

"Don’t get ahead of yourself," she said, placing the paper on his desk. "Go through the mistakes on this first paper and figure out where your thinking went wrong."

Shen Yuan glanced down at her finger tapping a wrong answer on the page. When he looked up, he met her gaze—her brow was slightly furrowed, but her eyes were smiling.

He opened his mouth to protest, but Li Zhi simply tapped her finger on the desk.

Shen Yuan instantly shut his mouth.

Shen Yuan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. Resigned to his fate, he pulled his error-correction notebook from his bag. Over the RUSTLE of paper, he heard Li Zhi add coolly, "Categorize your mistakes by concept. Use a red pen to fill in any steps you missed."

"I know, I know."

Seeing Shen Yuan begin to correct his mistakes, Li Zhi picked up the second test paper he had just finished.

...

A short while later, Shen Yuan set down his pen. He had finished categorizing the mistakes from the first test paper, just as Li Zhi had instructed.

But before he could even take a break, Li Zhi placed the other test paper in front of him.

Shen Yuan looked at Li Zhi, surprised. She just gave a slight lift of her chin.

The message was clear.

Shen Yuan pursed his lips. After a brief mental reset, he was about to pick up the second test paper and start correcting its mistakes.

Just then, Li Zhi, who was sitting beside him, let out a soft, "Hmm..."

Shen Yuan instinctively turned to look at her.

He saw Li Zhi knit her brows slightly. One pale hand came to rest on the outside of her thigh—clad in thick, black pantyhose—and rubbed it gently.

Her gaze remained on the corrections Shen Yuan had just made, her long eyelashes cast downward as if she were simply deep in thought about the problems.

Then, with practiced ease, she moved her hand away and shifted her body slightly, as if it were an afterthought.

The next second, something happened that made Shen Yuan freeze on the spot.

Li Zhi’s long leg, wrapped in thick black pantyhose, lifted into the air without any warning.

It moved with a light, almost deliberately lazy grace.

It crossed the narrow gap between their chairs and came to rest gently on Shen Yuan’s lap.

The faint, rough texture of the pantyhose transmitted clearly through the fabric of his own pants, warm and real.

The fine texture of the material stretched taut, outlining the smooth curve of her calf down to her ankle. The tip of her foot was suspended in the air, slightly arched.

The full weight and presence of her leg pressed down squarely in the middle of Shen Yuan’s thigh.

It was as if someone had hit the pause button on Shen Yuan.

His mind went completely blank. It felt as if all the blood in his body had rushed to his head with a WHOOSH, only to freeze a split second later.

He held his breath without thinking, forgetting even to move his eyes. He could only stare, dumbfounded, at Li Zhi.

His childhood friend—his girlfriend—was, at this very moment, resting her leg on his as if it were the most normal thing in the world!
