Chapter 444: Chapter 213: I’m Not a Tsundere

Li Zhi huffed and gave a few token struggles, but he only responded by tightening his grip and letting out a low chuckle. So she gave up, her body relaxing as she nestled against him.

The comforting warmth that sealed out the biting wind forced her to admit that this was, indeed, much warmer.

The howling of the winter wind was largely broken by their clinging figures. Only stray wisps of cold air managed to slip through the gaps, but they were quickly chased away by his burning body heat.

Shen Yuan’s arm was wrapped around Li Zhi, holding her securely in the warm cocoon formed by his side and the crook of his arm.

They walked in silence.

The slender, soft form beneath his arm felt so real, and to Shen Yuan, it seemed as if the girl in his embrace was a constant source of searing heat.

Occasionally, Shen Yuan would subconsciously dip his head, the tip of his nose brushing against the soft crown of Li Zhi’s hair. A faint peach fragrance, mingled with her own unique, crisp scent, drifted into his nostrils, simultaneously calming him and making his heart flutter.

Shen Yuan realized he was growing quite fond of the sensation of brushing against Li Zhi’s hair.

Li Zhi, for her part, did her best to maintain a calm facade, but the crimson flush of her ears was still clearly visible in the dim light.

Shen Yuan’s hand was holding hers tightly, his thumb unconsciously stroking her fingers. The intimacy of their skin touching left her feeling both shy and yet greedy for the sensation.

She could clearly feel the rise and fall of his chest and the powerful thrum of his heartbeat through his clothes. It was like a drum, beating against her taut nerves.

The warmth radiating from him flowed through her veins like hot cocoa, dispelling the deepest chill of the winter night and soothing away all the panic that lingered from his bold move back in the classroom.

As they drew closer to her apartment complex, the sense of security in his embrace became something she craved all the more.

Their steps fell into a natural rhythm as they passed quietly through the complex gates, wrapped in the warmth of their embrace.

On this cold winter night, at this late hour, the entire residential complex was deserted except for Shen Yuan and Li Zhi.

Their footsteps echoed with startling clarity in the silent courtyard. In the cozy little space between them, their breaths and heartbeats seemed to resonate softly together.

The feeling of security and warmth was so tangible that when they saw her building’s entrance ahead, they both unconsciously slowed their pace.

The entrance was just steps away, its cold glass doors reflecting their tightly embraced silhouettes.

’Once we go through that door, we’ll get in the elevator, and then... we’ll have to say goodbye.’

Shen Yuan instinctively tightened his arms, pulling Li Zhi even more snugly against him.

It was an instinctive reaction, as if by holding her tighter he could prolong this fleeting moment, gripping this hard-won intimacy to stave off their inevitable separation.

And Li Zhi, feeling the subtle increase in pressure from the arms around her, found her body responding before her mind had a chance to think.

She unconsciously nuzzled her cheek against his solid, burning chest, burying herself deeper in his embrace like a small animal seeking the source of warmth.

There was no struggle, no pouting reproach, not even a word. The young woman simply surrendered to the sudden reluctance to part that washed over her, following her instinct to seek the warmth and security he provided.

Her snuggling deeper into his arms spoke volumes. It was a silent, mutual understanding of dependence, a natural continuation and validation of all the intimacy that had come before.

This was their first day.

A day where the rules of their relationship deepened through intimacy and tentative exploration.

From his initiative in taking her hand at school to their silent embrace before her building now, every moment felt like a confirmation of a new, unspoken starting point.

Shen Yuan lowered his head, his chin resting lightly on the crown of Li Zhi’s hair as he felt the faint but clear motion of the girl in his arms pressing closer.

Her faint, fruity scent mingled with his own, brewing an intoxicating sweetness in the quiet of their embrace.

The motion-activated light above the entrance suddenly flared to life. White light spilled down, instantly chasing away the dimness of the entryway and clearly illuminating their figures, pressed together as if glued.

The sudden flood of light made Li Zhi tremble slightly, as if startled.

In response, Shen Yuan’s arms seemed to loosen their hold slightly, but he didn’t let go completely, his eyes asking a silent question.

Li Zhi shifted slightly but didn’t immediately pull away.

Her cheeks still bore a faint blush, now clearly visible in the light. She let out a soft breath, the warmth of it turning into a small white puff in the cold air.

The young woman lifted her head from his chest. The light fell fully on her face, revealing cheeks that were already flushed from their closeness, now an even deeper crimson from the cold.

Her eyes, usually so clear and sharp, now held a dewy sheen, shimmering under the light with a mixture of bashfulness and a lingering trace of reliance.

Her thin lips parted slightly, as if she meant to voice a complaint, but all that escaped was a nearly inaudible huff.

Watching the girl in his arms, who looked both shy and annoyed yet undeniably cute, the smile on Shen Yuan’s lips deepened.

"...Going up?"

Li Zhi nodded, her movement light as she brushed against the front of his shirt.

Shen Yuan, reluctant to let this last stretch of closeness end, led Li Zhi into the elevator.

In the narrow space, the only sound was the faint hum of the elevator.

The enclosed space amplified the scents of their embrace and the clean, soapy fragrance on Shen Yuan.

Li Zhi kept her head down, staring at the gleaming metal floor in front of her toes. She could clearly feel Shen Yuan’s gaze on the crown of her head, a look so intense it felt as if it had physical weight.

Abruptly, Li Zhi snapped her head up, her eyes fixed on Shen Yuan in a glare.
