Chapter 435: Chapter 211: Shen Yuan’s Ideal Monthly Exam Results

It gave him a bit of a headache just hearing about it.

The stupid little cat probably developed its germaphobia from being too smart.

A silly one like Naonao wouldn’t.

The two chatted casually on the way, but they both tacitly avoided a certain topic.

Grades.

He had clearly been quite excited this morning, but now that he was actually in front of Li Zhi, Shen Yuan couldn’t bring himself to say anything.

As for why he couldn’t bring it up...

’Perhaps it was best not to jinx it.’

Upon arriving at the classroom, you could clearly feel a slight tension in the air.

’It made sense. How could anyone not be nervous on the day scores were released?’

But it was obvious Old Zhou wouldn’t be announcing the scores in the morning.

Because that would be a recipe for disaster.

Okay, fine, it was just Old Zhou’s twisted logic: posting the list right before the end of the lunch break was a great way to wake everyone up!

In truth, everyone could already roughly guess their scores from the test analysis during the morning classes.

Except for Language Arts...

That one was always hard to predict.

After a long morning of waiting, it was finally lunchtime.

The atmosphere in the classroom grew increasingly tense. Shen Yuan feigned focus on his test correction notebook, but he kept glancing toward the classroom door from the corner of his eye.

Li Zhi, meanwhile, quietly flipped through a textbook. However, her slightly clenched fingertips betrayed her inner anxiety.

The beautiful girl was clearly not anxious about her grades.

What made her anxious was simply not knowing how she was supposed to face Shen Yuan now.

’Should she go with what she’d planned last night, or...’

Li Zhi quickly pulled up her hood, hiding her faintly blushing cheeks so that guy Shen Yuan wouldn’t see.

’Annoying.’

Finally...

Just as the lunch break was about to end, Old Zhou strode into the classroom, clutching an eye-catching list of scores.

The entire class held its breath in an instant.

Old Zhou didn’t say a word. He walked straight to the back of the room, slapped the score sheet onto the wall with a piece of tape, and then glanced around at the students.

"The monthly exam scores are out. You can all come take a look after class."

With that, Old Zhou turned and left, leaving the classroom in silence.

The instant Old Zhou turned and walked out of the classroom...

WHAP!

Someone shot up from their seat and rushed to the score sheet, whipping out their phone to snap a picture.

A second later, Shen Yuan was also in front of the list. He pulled out his phone, took a picture, and walked away.

Before Li Zhi could even react, Shen Yuan was already back at his seat.

Shen Yuan practically held his breath, filled with the tension of someone about to face their destiny, and flopped heavily back into his chair.

His fingers trembled almost imperceptibly with nervousness as he quickly swiped and zoomed in on the phone’s screen.

He eagerly scanned the densely packed list of names and scores, searching for his own.

By now, the classroom was already filled with a mix of gasps and sighs.

Staring at the score sheet on his screen, Shen Yuan unknowingly entered a state of Concentration.

In the seat beside him, Li Zhi was struggling to maintain a calm facade.

She remained huddled in her hoodie, most of her face concealed in the shadow cast by the brim, with only the delicate line of her jaw visible.

The girl appeared to be looking down at the test paper spread out on her desk. A closer look, however, would reveal that her gaze—and even her body—was tilted ever so slightly in Shen Yuan’s direction, as if she were trying to catch any subtle shift in his emotions.

She kept her curiosity tightly wrapped within her thick hood, forcing herself not to turn, not to peek, not to ask.

The commotion at the back of the classroom gradually spread.

Shen Yuan was frozen in a moment woven from tension and anticipation as he checked his score, while beside him, Li Zhi stubbornly played the part of an indifferent bystander.

Finally, Shen Yuan’s eyes landed on his name.

Language Arts: 118. Math: 125. English: 149. Comprehensive Science: 271. Total: 663.

The moment his eyes locked onto the number "663," the heart that had been lodged in Shen Yuan’s throat dropped back into his chest.

Shen Yuan let out a long sigh of relief.

’Made it.’

Immediately after, an unrestrained grin spread across the young man’s face.

However, when his peripheral vision caught the girl bundled up in her hoodie next to him, Shen Yuan’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He forcibly swallowed the triumphant shout that had been about to erupt from his throat.

’Gotta play it cool.’

’If I gloat at her now, I’ll definitely get kicked.’
