Walking through the dark night, the streets were mostly empty, just a few lovebird students walking around trying to hide from the staff.

Simply was able to easily avoid those already otherwise concentrated people and made his way forward towards the diamond dorms.

To make sure he wouldn’t miss the event starting randomly, he had also placed a small stone golem inside Syno’s room, which was constantly monitoring for anyone entering or leaving the room.

Waiting just outside the range of the guards’ patrol Steven was staring towards the dorms, waiting for any movement to come outside.

As he pulled out a small wooden mask from his pockets, barely enough to cover his face, he placed it on his head.

As the moon started rising above his head and the cold of the night only increased, Steven felt like he had been forgotten completely.

Until finally one of the guards moved away from their position, walking directly towards Steven’s location as the person tried to hide their mana as much as possible.

Unsure whether the person was the one he had been waiting for, Steven grabbed the miniature blade on his wristband, ready to use it if necessary.

But the guard simply stopped just below the tree; he was sitting up, his face hidden behind a mask, as he stared up towards Steven.

None of the two reacted, each just staring at the other, waiting for something to happen or somebody to attack the other.

Until Stevens’ patience had burned away, turning himself visible again, he checked the surroundings once more for any other presence.

But finding none, Steven leapt down from the tree and landed directly in front of the guard, who only slowly followed him with his head.

"Oh, S, it’s an honour to meet you." The guard spoke slowly, his voice feeling like it was being stretched out on purpose.

"Oh no, it’s an honour to meet you, sir. What might I call you?" Steven answered, having changed the tone of his voice slightly.

’’For you I will be Zeta.’’ He spoke while raising his hands to reveal a small golden cube in his hand.

Steven grabbed it cautiously, but it didn’t seem to be out of the ordinary. ’’What’s this supposed to be? A toy?’’ Steven laughed at his own joke, but the guard kept completely quiet.

’Your mission has changed, and you will need this to complete it correctly.’ The guard’s voice sounded like utter boredom.

He scanned the box more precisely for any magical traces, but the gold seemed to be blocked by any of them leaking it outside.

’’How interesting, but what is it supposed to do?’’ As he put the box into his pocket, focusing back on the guard.

As the guard lowered his hand to his side, staring at him quietly. "Not my job to hand you information; I only bring the packages."

Having finished his sentence, the guard simply turned around, stepping backwards towards the diamond dorms, not even giving Steven a last glance.

Being left standing alone, Steven didn’t wait for long as he tapped on his wristband once more, turning invisible.

Stepping away from the mansion, he would need to talk to L to find anything out or even somebody higher up.

Just why had his target changed so recently for no reason? And what is going to happen to the person he was going to recruit inside the event?

Finding no answers so easily, he could only make his way towards the main street hoping someone was still at their location at this time.

Walking inside the side street, every single shop had been closed already, as Steven finally arrived at the last house of the street.

Stepping inside the broken house, he could feel himself entering the barrier as suddenly a small campfire appeared in the middle of the house.

Sitting next to it was only the half asleep J.

Normally Steven wouldn’t wake anyone for no reason but because it was J he didn’t really care. ’’Ayo J wake up.’’ As he softly kicked his side.

As J jumped to his legs dagger raising in his hand pointing directly towards Steven. ’’Holy Steven what are you doing here.’’

Only after a second did the young man move his dagger down. ’’You scared me to fucking death.’’

Steven raised his hands apologetically. ’’Sorry, but somebody told me I got a new mission, so I just wanted to check if L is here.’’

’’Bro you know i don’t know anything those guys get from the higher ups.’’ He sounded annoyed as J sat back down on the ground.

’’Also why are you even here at this time everyone is sleeping right now.’’ J added warming his hands over the fire.

As a few steps came out of the darkness, a tired voice called out,

"Steven, what brings you out here at this time?" ’’ L stood in one of the room’s corners, having probably come from a sleeping room in the back.

’’Sorry for waking you up at this time, but I think you have a few things to tell me. ’’ As Steven pulled out the golden cube from his pocket, throwing it from hand to hand.

L’s eyes wandered over the cube, his gaze changing to something more serious. ’I see, so it was you that was chosen. ’’

L moved forward, signalling J to disappear from the room, who only unwillingly left.

As he gave them a last sharp gaze and then hurried through the door.

L created another extra sound barrier around them just for security barely engulfing the both of them.

Sitting down at the fire, L patted the ground next to him.

As Steven sat down on the other side of the fire staring intensly at L who looked troubled.

’What’s wrong, L? You don’t look like that normally. ’’Steven was a bit worried about what the guy was about to tell him.

’Stven, this cube you got there...’ His voice was dark.

’’It’s a bomb.’’
