I'm Forced to Be an Undercover Student Despite Being the Strongest
Chapter 72: Romantic deep dive?
Stepping through the flames, they started to die down until nothing of them remained.
Leaving the classroom, the lamp started flowing up again back to where it stood.
Returning the room to back how it was before he had entered it.
It had been the last class for today, so the university had gone empty, only a few people still learning lingering around.
Walking to the staircase, he didn’t even think about it before jumping it down to the first floor, where he took a deep breath.
"Time to return to my dorms before Syno starts thinking I actually go to school." He whispered to himself, dashing outside.
Jumping from building to building, he could see the masses of students who just finished their day walking below.
Some of them were going shopping while others searched for something to eat.
Only a small part of them went instantly to their dorms, and Syno was one of them; his steps were hurried as if he were mad.
Overtaking him just as they were at the entrance of their dorms, Syno still had to climb the stairs while Steven just jumped back through the window inside.
Landing exactly in the middle of his room, he deactivated his wristband, throwing it on his nightstand before lying down on his bed.
As the lock turned inside his door, Syno returned inside; as he saw Steven, his gaze instantly turned disappointed.
"Still lying around? Didn’t I tell you to get to class today?" He scolded him while shaking his head.
"Hm? "Oh, you’re already back." He answered, acting as if he had just woken up.
"Yes, I am back. It’s only logical because ALL classes ended today," Syno answered in his voice, having a hint of hostility.
Steven only turned around in his bed now facing the wall, as Syno seemed to give up.
He heard him sit down on his own bed, and Steven spoke, "And how is it going with the one girl you were talking about in your sleep?"
Syno instantly jumped up in embarrassment. "I... I never mind; it’s not going good."
Steven sat up, staring at the young man. "Have you tried like saving her from life-threatening danger or something similar?"
Syno’s gaze was unreadable, as if he didn’t fully understand his words.
"It had often worked for me, to be honest." Steven let out a laugh, but Syno only looked more irritated.
"You know we don’t have a lot of those running around in school, right?" He whispered as he started looking down on himself. "And even then not everyone is powerful enough to fight everything off."
Steven wanted to hit his head against the wall. How could someone so misunderstand his words? "Didn’t you fight really well in class today?"
"Yes, I think I did, but how did you know?" Syno asked, his voice dripping with suspicion.
"I heard some mad students from my window that probably left class early, so I asked what happened." He lied, trusting Syno to buy it.
And he did as his face relaxed. "Make sense; some of them really seemed pissed after."
Breaking a sigh of relief Steven changed the topic again: "And if those won’t work, I am sure you got a few other nice ones in your class."
Syno looked conflicted, as if he was thinking about it for the first time ever. "I mean, you are right; there are a few ones, this Ami girl for example."
Steven froze, staring at him. What did he just say? ’Ami?’ clearing his throat, he answered. "Ami, who’s that one of the lower classes?"
Syno nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she used to work at a coffee shop not too long ago; maybe you have seen her."
"Yeah, I might have... What’s so special about her?" He continued, not sure why he was even talking about it anymore.
"She’s very kind and helpful even when not powerful herself; I think she would even be nice to you." Syno answered casually as his face started growing redder.
"Maybe..." She should, after all; she was currently working at the diamond dorms because of him having to take care of an empty room.
"You should ask her out for a coffee; I am sure she would love it." Steven finally continued.
"Man, I am not sure; what if I get rejected?" He still seemed to be debating it rather than acting.
"Just take it slow and trust in yourself." Steven answered as he stood up, searching the room for anything to eat.
’’If you say so, but I don’t know who I truly like.’’ He answered, throwing himself on the bed.
As Steven stared at the lovestruck man, he was truly out of answers, for him it all was a useless effort anyway.
But at least it made his mood a slight bit better, having something stupid to talk about.
Even when it was just school romances.
Sudden Syno suddenly sat up on his bed, his eyes darting towards Steven with something evil in them.
’’While we are already talking about it, how is it going for you? ’’Syno spoke while staring him in the eyes. ’’From what I have seen, you’re pretty famous with the girls, especially the ones from the diamond class.’’
’Spending two nights in the wild together with our princess man, I am truly jealous of you.’’ He only added on top, irritating Steven.
What was wrong with survival in groups?
’’I don’t know what you’re speaking about; she was truly annoying the whole time. ’’ Steven finally answered.
’’Then what about that commoner Lucy? She’s a true beauty and a great talent," he continued, asking, wanting to find out anything.
But Steven only shook his head. ’We have just met before arriving here; not much more.’’ He didn’t want to mention her current condition as well.
’’Then what about the Frostes...’’ He wanted to continue asking, but Steven interrupted him.
"There is nothing, and with no one, simple as that.’’
Syno stared at him disappointed, then lay down again away from Steven.
