Chapter 51: Duel of Diamonds

Shooting the fireball forward, it easily pierced through the body of Eden.

But instead of light, a wave of light flowed out of his body as it started collapsing.

Edward had only sent a light double out here to fight him, either not even bothering to win it or simply overrating himself.

"How boring for a fake royal." He spoke as Edward completely disappeared.

Turning towards the statue, its body had turned into fine dust, but between all this dirt was a single dark blue crystal.

"Jackpot." He spoke to himself, already imagining his way back to the cave and the relaxing days ahead.

If not for the annoying princess currently fighting Lumiel and for those altars he got to find.

"Well, she should be occupied for the moment, so I should take the time searching." As he turned away from Merency, he was already thinking where he could go.

Hearing another explosion of their fight, he let out a sigh as he turned his head, looking for any markings of the Fingers.

Finding none, he summoned a powerful light in front of him, which slowly turned into a human shape and then finally into him.

"Go help her out if necessary!" As he waved his other self off towards Merency.

Watching it hide in the trees, he decided to move around the area he had felt June’s at.

While running, he closed his eye just for a moment to watch through the eyes of his clone.

Merency stood in the middle of the field, holding her flaming staff after she just blocked another wind strike of Lumiel.

Lumiel was jumping through the air, the alarm not even bothering to activate at his flight.

"What’s up, princess? I’m getting bored up here." He yelled down to her as the fire behind him began to spin slightly.

"Don’t you get cold up there? "Want to have a flame to warm you up?" As she shot a barrage of fireballs towards him, which he simply evaded.

His flight is going to be the most annoying part of his arsenal, so she had to find a way to get him down soon.

But Lumiel didn’t move as he raised his hands; the air began to vibrate as she could feel him gathering mana.

Merency took a cautious step back as she started casting a fire spell herself.

A line of fire manifested itself, growing only denser and denser each second as her fingers started shaking.

But she didn’t get to finish it as Lumiel had started earlier, as he sent out a nearly invisible wind slash.

She could only answer with what she had created until now, sending her flames up in the sky.

But they were just cut in half, barely burning Lumiel at all; meanwhile, his wind slash collided with her barrier.

Cutting through easily, it hit her arm, nearly separating it completely, as a numbing pain went through her body.

Paralysed, she fell to her knees as her vision began to spin from the pain alone; he tried to cast a regeneration spell.

But Lumiel was already next to her, hitting her away with a wooden stick from the ground.

What the hell had happened to this guy? He’s not even a member of the first table, and this is powerful.

She could hear her rib bones crack under the pressure, but before she could even land from his last hit, he was already standing below her.

This guy was fighting like his life depended on it and not some school event.

But to her luck, he miscalculated his next hit, giving her time to activate a small healing spell.

As the pain grew weaker, she could rise again, only to receive another combo from Lumiel, which she could barely block without a weapon.

But he also had underrated her; after all, she was trained in combat since she was young.

With a devastating knee kick, she sent the guy screaming to the floor; even then, he still managed to hit her side with the staff while falling.

Jumping backwards, she moved some of the stones below, shooting them out in waves towards him.

Two of them connected with Lumiel’s head before he could activate his barrier.

As blood started flowing down his face, a menacing smile formed on his lips.

The sight alone let Merency step back in confusion. What was up with this guy?

With his barrier blocking Merency’s light attacks, Lumiel approached her quickly as he threw the staff towards her.

Being forced to deactivate her barrier, the stones fell down to the ground while Lumiel had already cast another wind blade.

Flying towards her, she ducked down, feeling it fly just above her head.

She needed to end this quickly, and with her already being down on the ground, she moved a single stone.

Sending it flying with enough speed to shatter a tree, it broke through Lumiel’s barrier.

As both of them gained distance, each of them created a powerful fireball.

As their flames turned into a bright yellow colour, she had the lead in timing.

As neither even hesitated for a moment, she sent out her fireball, ready to crush his.

But before they could even collide, a paralysing pain went through her mind.

As her fire collapsed into nothingness, Lumiels landed directly on her chest, burning her skin.

As he screamed in a panic, probably because of her sudden weakness, he did not want to hurt her too much.

But the world already turned black for Merency as she fell over.

Stevens’ clone was already acting not for her but instead for Lumiel.

As Merency suddenly snapped back right to standing.

Her eyes have changed colour.

The world began to boil, and even Lumiel stopped, confused.

But before he could react, Merency had already cast a small blue firebird in her hand.

Sending it towards Lumiel, whose skin had already begun to blister from just being close to it.

Just as the spell was about to disintegrate the poor boy.
