I'm Crushing on Gorgeous Faces in Variety Shows!
Chapter 851 - 850: Your Highness! My Surname Is Bai!
After witnessing Brother Cheng pay for love, the others learned from him and immediately joined in on the shopping spree.
Guan Yu was especially excited, buying fish and darting to the toy stands to pick out items she’d previously seen, shouting and howling the whole way.
"This one looks so nice! Boss, how much is this?"
"This mask is too exquisite, isn’t it?! Can’t take it down? No problem, please hang it around my neck!"
"There’s a stand selling fruit popsicles here?! Come, come, give me... there are a total of nine of us, excluding Brother Huai, nine pieces! Boss, give me nine pieces!"
After running back and forth several times, when she finally regrouped with the others, her arms were filled with goods and she had two masks hanging around her neck.
"No way, Sister Guan Yu, you’re really treating this like a night market, your shopping enthusiasm is higher than when filming the show." Li Yang muttered.
Guan Yu snatched back the fruit popsicle she gave him: "Taking advantage and being coy, eat it or not, it’s confiscated!"
"No, no, no, come on." Li Yang tried to grab it back, and happily licked the popsicle twice.
On hot days, having a popsicle is the best comfort.
Mu Qiu received a peach popsicle but was holding a bamboo cylinder fish tank, making it hard to open. So she had to look up for Cheng Zhirang’s help.
"Help me out."
Cheng Zhirang took her popsicle, tore off the packaging, then handed it back to her, taking the bamboo cylinder to free her hands for eating.
Nearby, Guan Yu asked, "Brother Cheng, what popsicle would you like? There’s blueberry and watermelon left, watermelon?"
Cheng Zhirang nodded and said alright, but seeing his hands occupied with the bamboo cylinder, Guan Yu didn’t hand him the popsicle but instead gave it to Mu Qiu.
"You deal with yours, Brother Cheng can’t open it now."
Mu Qiu bit her popsicle and mumbled twice, took the watermelon popsicle, tore it open, and handed it to him, before hissing and blowing air to take out the ice popsicle that was chilling her lips.
A bit of her lipstick wore off, revealing lips tinged pink from the ice, glistening and fresh, with a fleeting glimpse of a rosy tongue tip.
Cheng Zhirang’s gaze settled on her lips for a moment before quickly moving away, gently reminding with his clear voice: "Eat slowly, want to taste the watermelon one?"
Mu Qiu looked at the peach popsicle in her hand, then at the red watermelon-mixed-with-milk frozen popsicle in his hand, hesitated before nodding her head.
"I’ll just bite a bit."
"What’s with just a small bite," Guan Yu, now overwhelmed by their sweet display, stared at them and said, "Why don’t you just bite him instead, these popsicles are just in the way of your romance."
Shu Ran sided with her this time: "I agree."
Li Yang munched on his popsicle, watching them teasingly, while An Zhou, Xu Jihua, Song Weili, and Zhu Qi also egged on, leaving Mu Qiu a bit flustered.
Luckily, her skin is thick... er, her mental fortitude high.
"Then I’ll bite twice." She then tugged Cheng Zhirang’s hand with the popsicle down to a normal height, biting the lower end, one bite at a time.
Doing so easily brought her lips in contact with Cheng Zhirang’s hand holding the stick.
Cheng Zhirang paused, tucked the bamboo cylinder under one arm, freeing his other hand near her lips.
Watching her bite two almost symmetrical chunks, that hand lightly brushed her chin: "Eat slowly, it’s icy."
Guan Yu: "I can’t eat anymore."
An Zhou laughed: "Not even starting yet, already full?"
Li Yang diligently gnawed his popsicle, replying:
"That’s not quite right, you need to eat something for fullness. There’s a noodle stand over there, freshly cooked, shall we check it out?"
Song Weili asked earnestly: "If we eat that, then we might be too full to have dinner later."
The word "dinner" caught the attention of others.
Though the one usually most concerned with meals wasn’t there, only the growing Li Yang eagerly asked: "Ah right, there’s the show crew’s meal too. What time is it now? Isn’t it time for a meal yet?"
An Zhou glanced at his techie’s watch and said: "It’s twelve forty-something."
"Isn’t that past the usual meal time already?!"
Shu Ran gave him a look: "Clearly, the show doesn’t plan for us to have a big lunch."
Mu Qiu pondered: "That means we can eat here. But if we hadn’t come and noticed these food stands, and with the crew not preparing lunch, wouldn’t we just starve?"
Xu Jihua: "They probably assumed you’d still find it even if not immediately?"
She thought for a bit: "True. Even if not at first, hunger would lead us to food eventually. No wonder Brother Huai managed to enjoy in the little black room, probably tolerated by the crew. But in such situations, honest folks like us tend to suffer."
Shu Ran and Guan Yu rolled their eyes unanimously.
"Ahem, let’s head over and see what’s available to eat."
The noodle stand had a decently wide spot, with the vendor wiping sweat while picking up noodles, and a rustic sunshade set up next to a few tables and chairs.
It felt like a small ancient noodle shop.
Just as they were about to walk over, a voice suddenly called "Your Highness" from behind.
Though Song Weili’s character was also a prince, everyone thought of Cheng Zhirang without a doubt, and he himself didn’t feel called, naturally looking towards Cheng Zhirang.
Cheng Zhirang dressed in black, holding a half-eaten watermelon popsicle, turned to the voice.
Finding a notable character amid a bustling crowd was easy, just look at her dress and demeanor, then at the OTP filmmakers nearby.
The voice belonged to a lady in blue ancient attire, her appearance and bearing immediately revealing her as a dignified young miss.
At this moment, brows furrowed, she looked at them with a pale face, "Your Highness, you have no time for the wedding preparation but have time to accompany this young lady to the market?"
Zhu Qi licked his popsicle and chimed in, "Here comes the drama."
Guan Yu said, "What should this be called? Shopping with a sweetheart only to run into the matchmaker?"
Shu Ran joked, "It’s not just a matchmaker, it’s the fiancée."
Shopping with a sweetheart to bump into a fiancée, tsk tsk tsk, it’s an exciting battlefield.
Mu Qiu took a bite of her popsicle, pondering her role to make this scene even more captivating.
Cheng Zhirang glanced at her, then replied with a spur-of-the-moment line, "I think I’ve made myself clear, Miss Zhang."
The "Miss Zhang" turned paler, her tear-filled eyes clearly expressing sorrow, "Your Highness, I’m of the Bai family! Not Zhang!"
Cheng Zhirang: "......"
