Chapter 508: Chapter 254: First Team Fight, Everyone Showcases Their Divine Powers
Jun Buxiao sprang into action, charging at the infant with a pair of large scissors and an eerie giggle.
To any unknowing bystander, the wild scene would have made Jun Buxiao look like a maniac trying to murder a baby.
"Watch out!"
Her scalp tingling, Xi’er shot out two needles with a flick of her fingers. One pierced the top of Jun Buxiao’s head, the other his tailbone. As the needles struck, Jun Buxiao’s body shuddered, his legs clamped together, and he nearly fell over.
His charge faltered, and he was forcibly yanked back by Xi’er’s Human Puppet Miracle Technique.
"Hee hee hee ha ha ha!" Jun Buxiao adjusted his mask, swapping it for his "Anger" one. "That wasn’t fun at all."
But Xi’er’s eyes were fixed on the infant in the distance. The ground around "it" had collapsed, and strange lumps of bright red flesh, as cute as fluffy pom-poms, were surging up from underground. At first glance, they looked like tumors. The flesh was thin, and within it, one could vaguely make out the fragmented shapes of teeth, hair, and fingers.
The fleshy tumors seemed to be living "creatures," hopping and bouncing on the ground. In the blink of an eye, they buried the fair-skinned Nascent Soul. If Xi’er hadn’t acted so quickly, Jun Buxiao would have certainly been buried in that grotesque pile of flesh as well.
Seeing this, Jun Buxiao immediately shut his mouth, swapped his mask again, and said gratefully, "My thanks!"
"Nnngh..."
Just then, the postpartum "pregnant man," Mo Kuang, let out a soft moan and slowly regained consciousness, his face rosy. His first reaction was to look down at his stomach. Seeing the lifelike chrysanthemum embroidered onto his belly, he was dumbfounded. "What’s with the flower? Wait, no—where’s my child?"
Mo Kuang, the man everyone had all but forgotten, crashed back into the center of attention.
In an instant, all eyes were focused on Mo Kuang’s belly.
Situ Yong was jolted into a sudden realization. Pointing at Mo Kuang’s belly, he was filled with regret. "The umbilical connection! We forgot to sever the umbilical connection!"
He was vexed because he, the self-proclaimed greatest doctor in the world, had forgotten such a simple principle. He had to take the blame for this. But when Jun Buxiao came striding up to Mo Kuang, giggling and brandishing the large scissors, Situ Yong slapped his own forehead. ’The scissors are in the hands of a performer,’ he thought. ’He should be the one to take the blame.’
"Elder Divine Doctor, where do I cut?"
Jun Buxiao pinned Mo Kuang to the ground, holding him immobile. The cold, cruel gaze from behind his mask sent a chill through Mo Kuang’s body. The sharp scissors waved back and forth below his navel, and he didn’t dare move a muscle.
Jun Buxiao had to ask because none of them could see this so-called "umbilical connection." But without waiting for the Elder Divine Doctor to answer, Jun Buxiao relied on his imagination and made a few snips above Mo Kuang’s belly. SNIP, SNIP.
The Elder Divine Doctor was checking his pulse.
After making a few snips, Jun Buxiao glanced back. In the distance, the countless lumps of flesh had completely enveloped the "Nascent Soul," merging into a single, gigantic mass. The writhing pile grew ever higher, blotting out the sky in a blink. It was a terrifying sight, easily ten stories tall.
A monster.
With just a single glance, the same thought entered the minds of everyone on the Disaster Prevention Bureau’s "vice squad."
If the "Nascent Soul’s" resemblance to a human child had made them hesitate to act, the "flesh mound" it had become was an out-and-out monster. The colossal mass of flesh, like a small mountain, now loomed over Lu Town. Its current terrifying form was impossible to associate with the once-cute image of the Nascent Soul.
No one could see the "umbilical connection." The Elder Divine Doctor checked Mo Kuang’s pulse a couple of times and found it to be steady and strong—nothing like the "pregnancy pulse" from before. For a moment, even Situ Yong was unsure.
’Could it be inside?’ Jun Buxiao thought to himself, stroking his chin with not an ounce of humanity. ’This monster was born from a man, so normal logic doesn’t apply. The umbilical connection might be hidden inside this kid’s abdomen. Since we could cut him open once, we can do it again. With the Young Master’s Miracle Technique, he probably won’t die. Besides, practice makes perfect. Hey, Elder Divine Doctor, would you like to...’
Mo Kuang listened, dumbfounded, as Jun Buxiao muttered to himself. "Did you just fucking say your thoughts out loud?! No! I don’t want that! Just kill me! Kill me now!"
"Fall back!"
At that moment, Ye and Xi’er shouted in unison. The mass of flesh was swelling like a balloon, expanding outward with the weight of a mountain. In just a few seconds, it crushed the inn to smithereens. The Disaster Prevention Bureau team retreated in disarray. Mo Kuang, a blubbering mess of snot and tears, scrambled and crawled toward the end of the street. He was certain his entire life hadn’t been as "eventful" as the past few days. He was now secretly thankful; the position of Lower Six in Ye Weiyang’s organization was truly a cursed post. His two predecessors had died on the job in the blink of an eye, and he had only just taken up the post himself. Luckily, Ye Weiyang was gone, replaced by the Disaster Prevention Bureau. Otherwise, he probably wouldn’t have survived more than a few days either.
"Where’s that brat?! SSSS!"
Snake asked anxiously, flicking her forked tongue. She was holding the Eternal World Painting, having clearly tried and failed to contact Zheng Xiu.
Ye was a bit skeptical—Snake was impetuous and unreliable, after all—so she tried it herself. Seeing the strange message that appeared on the Eternal World Painting’s mirror surface, even the ever-composed Ye was stunned. "’The user you are calling is currently out of service’? What does that mean?"
Using her silk threads, Xi’er leaped away, suspending herself in mid-air. She also tried to contact Zheng Xiu, only for the Eternal World Painting to give the same reply. She could only shout to the others, "The Young Master and Pillar Cat have vanished! Just now! They might have gone after Mushroom and Bai Qiuyue!"
Xi’er paused, then, as if remembering something, added, "The monster’s umbilical connection—it flashed for a moment just now, I saw it with my own eyes! We can’t see it anymore, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone. It’s just that *we* can’t see it! Only the Young Master has the eyes to see where it’s hidden!"
