Chapter 502 - 251: "Nascent Soul
Chapter 502: Chapter 251: "Nascent Soul
"Hee hee hee—"
"Ha ha ha—"
"Hee hee ha ha—"
A chorus of laughter, rising and falling, emanated from the ninety-nine lumps of flesh that had fallen in Lu Town. The tender, bright red lumps of flesh squirmed for a moment before gradually morphing into the shape of human infants. Emitting innocent, carefree laughter, they took off running from all directions toward the inn.
The bizarre "humanoid infants," their innocent laughter, their gaits growing steadier as they ran—the scene unfolding in the town made Xi’er and the Elder Divine Doctor, flying high above, feel their skin crawl. Their mouths opened and closed, yet they were too stunned to utter a single word.
"What are those things!"
Zheng Xiu did a fancy 360-degree spin in mid-air, taking the opportunity to pat the Orange Cat’s butt with the tip of his wing.
The Orange Cat clung firmly to the youth’s hair, all its fur blown back by the fierce wind.
It had its butt patted but showed no sign of displeasure. Instead, it cupped its chin with its paws, gazed down below, and adopted a thoughtful expression.
"Meow? Meow meow meow."
"They seem to be ’Nascent Souls,’ meow."
"Nascent Souls? What do you mean, Nascent Souls?"
Zheng Xiu froze.
"Meow meow meow meow!"
The Orange Cat replied with conviction.
"I don’t know, meow! A Nascent Soul is a Nascent Soul, meow!"
Xi’er and Situ Yong couldn’t understand the meowing. Amidst the dizzying, fancy spins that made them see stars, all they heard was one person asking questions and one cat meowing.
"Young Master, the inn’s lights went out!"
Xi’er pointed toward the distant inn.
"I see them!"
Situ Yong fought back waves of nausea and asked, "What is my mission?"
Zheng Xiu answered calmly, giving them a chance to mentally prepare. "You should be prepared for the worst."
Xi’er: "Huh?"
Zheng Xiu said, "Elder Divine Doctor, you know how to use a scalpel, and Xi’er, you can stitch. If it comes to the worst, we’ll just have to sacrifice that boy."
This time, Xi’er and the Elder Divine Doctor understood in an instant. A chill ran down their spines.
No wonder he had specifically brought the two of them rushing back to the inn.
It was for... a Cesarean section!
...
「In front of the Xilaideng Inn.」
The lights were out, the people gone. It was deathly still.
Inside the inn, the waiter’s corpse was still warm, his dilated pupils staring blankly at the ceiling.
The Snake lunged, sinking its fangs into Bai Qiuyue’s arm. The lethal venom needed only a few moments to claim his life.
The Snake was a seasoned hunter. Even after its venom, hidden in its fangs, seeped into its opponent’s body, it did not relax its guard. Though Bai Qiuyue’s arm throbbed with a numb, swelling pain as it turned black, he gritted his teeth, swung his bamboo pole, and knocked the Snake away.
The Snake’s flexible body recoiled against the wall like a spring before shooting forward again, so fast it was just a blur of white. It intended to strike again, just to make sure its target was dead.
"A Snake? Interesting. Hahahaha!"
But Bai Qiuyue just laughed. With his free hand, he formed two fingers like a sword and plunged them into the wound the Snake had left, then quickly pulled them back out.
SPLURT!
The wound on his arm gushed like a fountain, drawn out by his two fingers. At first, the spurting blood was black and carried a foul stench, but it quickly turned to a visible, bright red.
The swelling in his arm subsided. He had forced out a great deal of his own blood; though this counteracted the snake venom, it also left him weak from blood loss, and a wave of fatigue washed over him.
"Mo Kuang" was still playing in the "river" between Bai Qiuyue and the inn, kicking at the water. Bai Qiuyue switched the bamboo pole to his other hand and gestured over the "river." Immediately, ripples of light silently coalesced behind him, forming a mirror-like phantom.
Suddenly, just as Bai Qiuyue seemed about to make a move, his expression changed drastically. His neck began to bulge at a terrifying speed.
He dropped the bamboo pole in agony, clutching his throat with both hands as if something were stuck there.
"A perfect chance, hissss!"
The Snake coiled and sprang at Bai Qiuyue, mouth open for a decisive finishing blow. But at that very moment, the agonized Bai Qiuyue’s mouth opened unnaturally wide, his weathered face distorting as his jaw stretched impossibly.
A dark lump of flesh, covered in strands of black hair, squeezed out of Bai Qiuyue’s mouth.
The Snake shuddered. For some reason, the "hairy ball of flesh" vomited from Bai Qiuyue’s mouth triggered a voice in its mind, screaming: ’Do not approach! Do not approach! Do not approach!’
This was the Snake’s near-animalistic "Intuition" giving it a warning.
The Snake’s attack faltered. It dropped to the ground on its four limbs and crawled away, instantly hiding in the distance.
The lump of flesh vomited from Bai Qiuyue’s mouth "re-formed" on the open ground, and after a moment, it had turned into a completely naked woman.
The woman was devastatingly beautiful, though her brows were lightly furrowed as if in sorrow. She flicked her snow-white skin with a brightly painted red nail, and a layer of her skin peeled away, transforming into a red and green silk robe.
Having "vomited" out the woman, Bai Qiuyue lay on the ground, gasping for breath.
After a long while, he finally stood up with a wry smile. "Next time you use me as a Post Station to travel, could you please give me a little warning? I’d be most grateful."
The woman, however, paid no mind to Bai Qiuyue complaining behind her.
Instead, her expression softened as she turned to the "Mo Kuang" playing nearby. Spreading her slender arms, she smiled and said:
"Come here, child."
