Chapter 484: Chapter 244: Desolate Temple and Orchid Fragrance

After Zheng Xiu "abandoned medicine for martial arts" and equipped the [Coiling Dragon Eighteen Slashes] Trait, he went out of his way to borrow a blade from Situ Yong.

Situ Yong, it seemed, didn’t subscribe to the old-fashioned notion of Martial Knights from two centuries ago, who treated their weapons like their wives—’if you use my weapon, you’re using my wife.’ After asking a couple of questions, he generously lent a wife... no, a blade, for the young man’s use.

From the six options, Zheng Xiu chose one as small and exquisite as a dagger. By now, Zheng Xiu’s [Coiling Dragon Eighteen Slashes] had already reached the "Masterful" realm. Though it couldn’t compare to the Treasure King’s level back in the day, taking down eight or ten Mo Kuangs with a small dagger would be a piece of cake.

The power of ten Mo.

’[Coiling Dragon Eighteen Slashes], Masterful... right, as long as I have a blade, any kind will do.’

"Oh, right, Elder Divine Doctor, after Xi’er gets the list of the deceased’s widows, could I trouble you to pay them a visit and take their pulses? Xi’er investigated before and said their pregnancies seem no different from a normal Human’s, but I’m still a little worried."

Having borrowed the blade, Zheng Xiu recalled something and turned back to add a few instructions.

"The widows?" Situ Yong’s old face darkened. "Young Master, I’m afraid that might be a little... inconvenient?"

Situ Yong held up his thumb and forefinger, pinching them close together in front of Zheng Xiu to show just how "little" he meant.

"Inconvenient?" Zheng Xiu frowned. A moment later, he understood Situ Yong’s concern. ’You’re worried about something like that?’ He looked at the old-timer and said with a smile, "Medical Compassion."

Situ Yong cleared his throat twice. "Right, Medical Compassion. I’ll go take their pulses, yes, take their pulses."

The Elder Divine Doctor readily agreed.

The Five Passes Temple was located on a small hill not far outside Lu Town.

Zheng Xiu shouldered a backpack filled with fried fish cakes. The Orange Cat lay perched on his head. Following closely behind him was Yin Qingqing. The trio of two humans and one cat set off to investigate the Five Passes Temple.

Yin Qingqing was initially reluctant to go near the strange statue called the "Wutong God," the very culprit behind Mo Kuang’s miserable state. But since it was an order from the Red King... *sigh*. Yin Qingqing quietly followed behind the Red King.

This time, the young Red King didn’t sit in Yin Qingqing’s lap. Instead, they each rode their own horse out of the city.

Along the way, the young Red King would ramble on at the Orange Cat in his lap.

"You little glutton. Before Feng Bei left, she said you could only have two fried fish cakes a day. Go on, count for yourself—how many meals have you had today?"

Hearing this, the Orange Cat actually started counting on its paws.

"Stop counting, you can’t even tell the difference! Besides, you don’t have enough claws!" the Red King scolded the greedy cat. "Let me be clear: Feng Bei made these fried fish cakes especially for you. I don’t know how, so once you eat them all, you can go hungry!"

The Orange Cat grew furious. It leaped onto the horse’s head, put its paws on its hips, and glared at the young Red King, letting loose a torrent of angry scolding.

"Meow meow meow? Meow meow meow! Meow... meow meow!"

"I can’t learn! That’s a skill Feng Bei spent ten years perfecting. If it were me, I might as well just draw you a cake... huh? Wait, I almost forgot, the cakes I draw can actually fill your stomach. Want one? Want one? Hey! You won’t even eat a drawn fried fish cake? You think you’re some kind of royalty, is that it? Even if you really are some special ’freak cat’ from birth, you’re still just a cat! I don’t care where you came from. You eat my food, live in my house, and you’ve even taken over my Orange Cat’s body. I’ve provided you with the best food and clothing without ever complaining. And now, just because you have to miss a couple of meals, you’re getting all high and mighty with me, is that it? What are you glaring at? Glaring at me is useless! Before we left, your stomach was rumbling. You snuck off to a corner, spread your legs, and had a bout of diarrhea. Then you buried the grass you wiped your butt with in the dirt. You think I didn’t see any of that?"

Since there were no outsiders around, and Yin Qingqing already knew his true identity, Zheng Xiu seized the opportunity of the Orange Cat’s secret morning diarrhea to make an issue of it and properly discipline this rebellious little she-cat.

The Orange Cat looked away guiltily, waving its paws back and forth and meowing twice.

The Red King raised an eyebrow. "It wasn’t you? Oh-ho? What a coincidence," the young Red King sneered. "There were two clumps of orange fur stuck to that pile of runny poop. The hairs were curled into a spiral, which suggests the fur must have fallen from a very unique and critical location—a vital point, one might say. And on top of that, the fur had your distinct musky scent..."

The Orange Cat looked confused. It spread its legs, lifted its long robe right in front of Zheng Xiu, and looked down at its own rear, wagging its tail.

"Hahaha! You’ve given yourself away, haven’t you? I was just bluffing about the fur—there was no fur on that poop at all! Hmph, hmph, your reaction is all the evidence I need! There is only one truth!" The young Red King danced with glee, and the startled horse beneath him bolted forward. Yin Qingqing gasped, afraid the Red King would fall, and spurred her horse to catch up. She then discovered that the Red King’s horsemanship wasn’t bad at all; his rear was firmly planted in the saddle.

The Red King pushed his fingers up the bridge of his nose, lowered his head with a cold smirk, and revealed a triumphant expression.

The Orange Cat wore a defeated expression. It whimpered twice, weakly reached a paw into its robe, and reluctantly stuffed a half-eaten fried fish cake back into Zheng Xiu’s backpack.

Watching the strange interaction between the Orange Cat and the young man, Yin Qingqing couldn’t help but periodically ask herself, ’Is this innocent, child-like boy really the Red King, the one who stands below only one, yet above millions in the Daqian Empire?’

’The Richest Person of the Zheng Clan, whose wealth is known throughout the world?’

"Qingqing!"

Lost in her chaotic doubts, the young man’s call broke Yin Qingqing from her reverie. Immediately after, a bundle was tossed toward her.

"Hide this glutton’s rations!"

Yin Qingqing was taken aback. "This..."

But in the next second, Yin Qingqing obediently rubbed a small piece of human skin from her arm. It suddenly expanded in her palm, swallowing the bundle like a black hole.
