Chapter 371: Chapter 205: Night Battle

The first volley of arrows flew, but Arturo’s army was completely unscathed.

"Fire the war crossbows!"

Warfare with cold weapons was a contest of numbers and equipment. After blocking the first volley of arrows, Arturo’s army seized the moment before the second volley arrived and issued another command.

The highly-trained soldiers moved in unison, swiftly pulling war crossbows from their camels’ backs. With a single, synchronized TWANG from the mechanisms, a volley of crossbow bolts from Arturo’s army shot into the valley, like a great bird spreading its wings in the night, carried on a piercing wind.

At this moment, they didn’t even need to aim. All that mattered was pure suppressing fire.

Under this volley of crossbow fire, many members of the Sun Tribe were instantly struck by bolts, crying out in pain.

Ri Di shouted in a panic, "Fall back! Get behind the rocks!"

The Sun Tribe had never experienced a battle like this; they were hunters, not warriors. Compared to Arturo’s well-drilled army, the Sun Tribe’s best archers looked like a disorderly mob. Though each was skilled in Archery, they couldn’t form a unified offensive.

The Sun Tribe was in retreat.

Arturo laughed heartily. "Charge!"

They began their charge, heading straight for Richan Valley.

As he neared the valley entrance, Arturo’s gaze suddenly froze. Two lone figures stood silently at the mouth of the valley, like a pair of guardian deities.

What infuriated Arturo the most was the fuzzy kitten head peeking out from the man’s chest.

The kitten’s expression seemed to be mocking him.

"Damn it!"

A vein bulged on Arturo’s forehead, his eyes turning blood-red. He flew into a rage, the curse rumbling indistinctly in his native tongue.

Xie Luohe drew her curved bow and loosed an arrow.

The instant the longbow arrow left the string, Zheng Xiu instinctively frowned, glancing at his wife with a hint of uncertainty.

’Something is wrong with that arrow.’

"Is that all you’ve got!"

Arturo’s bloodshot eyes instantly turned pure black as demonic, wicked patterns grew from his back to cover his entire body.

He threw a punch, and layered shockwaves blasted away the vegetation at the valley entrance, like a violent hurricane sweeping through.

Before Xie Luohe’s longbow arrow could even reach Arturo, it was shattered by the shockwave from his punch.

The husband and wife were both startled.

They were startled not because Xie Luohe’s Archery had failed, but because of their opponent’s demonic appearance.

’Arturo... is a Mystic!’

’A natural-born Mystic!’

Xie Luohe pressed her lips together, tightening her grip on her longbow. A hint of conflict appeared in her eyes.

"Madam, fall back."

Zheng Xiu sensed that Xie Luohe’s Archery was not as formidable as it once was, and found it strange. But with Arturo already upon them, Zheng Xiu had no time for questions. He told Xie Luohe to retreat and took a step forward himself.

A long knife swiftly cut across his wrist, and fresh blood gushed out.

Zheng Xiu moved as if writing with a swift brush. Lines of blood-red "ink" spread out from him in all directions, instantly enveloping the entire valley like a sealed cage.

"Bird Cage!"

’Projection!’

’Zheng Shan!’

’Unbreakable!’

Zheng Xiu strode forward, step by step. With each step, his figure grew an inch taller!

Arturo tilted his head. Still atop his war camel, a strange smile touched his lips as he said:

"Oh? You’re a ’Reincarnated Buddha’ as well?"

Zheng Xiu didn’t answer. He silently threw a punch.

The instant he threw the punch, the fur of the kitten on his chest was all blown back past its ears. It even calmly peed all over Zheng Xiu.

After his initial shock, Arturo leaped off his war camel. Moving even faster than a charging war camel, he appeared before Zheng Xiu and threw a punch of his own.

The two fists, each the size of a clay pot, collided.

The earth shook and the mountains trembled.
