Ideworld Chronicles: The Art Mage
THE ART OF MAGIC released
Hello, everyone!
I've been working on something new for quite some time, and I'm finally ready to share it with you. It's called The Art of Magic, and the first volume is titled Pentimento.
Those of you who've been reading The Art Mage already know about my fascination with magic, art, and characters who would rather make their own rules than follow someone else's. Well, those things are still here, but this time I've decided to approach them from a different direction.
Meet Alexander May.
Alexander is an artist, a thief, a con man, and someone with a rather questionable relationship with authority. When he's dragged into a universe-spanning competition in which the survival of Earth is at stake, he's given the opportunity to choose his own magical Path.
Naturally, he makes a questionable decision almost immediately.
What follows is a progression fantasy adventure featuring a magic system built around Authority over reality, unusual companions (including a sentient fireball who wants to be a healer), dangerous creatures, mysteries, and a protagonist who would much rather enjoy his freedom than save the universe.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
What can you expect?
A detailed, evolving magic system with progression, skills, achievements, and plenty of room for creative experimentation.
A clever, morally flexible protagonist who relies as much on deception, improvisation, and preparation as he does on magic.
A strange fantasy world populated by different races, cultures, creatures, and civilizations.
Humor, adventure, mystery, and some considerably darker moments.
A story about freedom, identity, relationships, and what it means to create something of your own.
Although The Art of Magic shares some of the themes you might recognize from The Art Mage, it's an entirely separate story, with its own characters, world, and direction.
I've put a great deal of thought into Alexander and his journey, and I'm particularly curious whether you'll enjoy following him as much as you've enjoyed my previous characters.

And if you decide to give it a chance, please let me know what you think! I'm especially interested in hearing how you feel about Alexander, Bri, and the magic system.
Thank you for reading, and for giving another one of my stories a chance.
See you on the other side!
