I Write Novels in a Zerg Prison
Chapter 301: What If An Had Been the One Who Married Ulysses (7): Ulysses Must Be an Incubus—the Kind That Drains His Essence and Blood
Go to the Military Region as a Psychic Soothing Specialist?
Most of the soothing specialists in the Military Regions were male Zergs serving sentences for crimes, though a very small number were military doctors who had enlisted. Compared with the extremely rare latter group, the former was far more widely known.
Every verdict in a criminal case involving a male Zerg would be accompanied by a public notice stating that the male Zerg had been sent to a Military Region to serve his sentence as a soothing specialist. As a result, Federation male Zergs avoided anything related to the subject like the plague. The moment "Military Region" and "soothing specialist" were mentioned, the males became frightened.
Yet his Male Lord had voluntarily brought up going to the Military Region to work as a soothing specialist.
That was very unusual.
Ulysses ignored the brief buzzing that had filled his mind the instant he heard those words and seriously analyzed the possible reasons.
When a male Zerg performed Psychic Soothing on a military female, he generally needed the assistance of physical contact. It was much easier to open the military female's Psychic Domain after first opening up his body and being accepted by him.
If the male Zerg possessed exceptionally powerful Psychic Power, or if the military female trusted the male Zerg completely, those conditions could be ignored.
Ulysses remembered the Psychic Soothing the male had performed on him during those nights.
An's Psychic Power was extraordinarily strong, allowing him to do as he pleased. He never performed Psychic Soothing while he was inside Ulysses, as though he kept the two things distinctly separate. The soothing usually happened while they rested afterward, or before sleep on those few nights when they simply lay under the covers and slept.
Even so, Ulysses still wasn't certain what method An would use when soothing other military females.
Married military females did not apply for Military Region soothing. To increase the chances of success, military females who applied for soothing would often consent to a certain degree of physical contact, ranging from touching and kissing all the way to going through with everything.
When filling out the application form, the greatest number simply checked every option, because doing so allowed them to get assigned to a soothing specialist faster.
Those who refused physical contact entirely, or accepted only basic contact, had a much harder time getting assigned a soothing specialist.
The number of Military Region soothing specialists was limited. Most male Zergs serving sentences only wanted to finish their daily quota as quickly as possible and get it over with. They were unwilling to spend additional time and effort opening a female Zerg's Psychic Domain on a purely mental level. Only a tiny number of male Zergs insisted on using contact-free or basic-contact soothing methods.
Images of An facing other military females kept appearing uncontrollably in Ulysses' mind, making it difficult for him to concentrate.
He forced himself to stop paying attention to those imaginary, nonexistent scenes and instead focused on An's objective.
His objective...
Very few male Zergs were willing to become soothing specialists in a Military Region. It was a place male Zergs avoided at all costs. There had to be some reason, something there that attracted An.
Sleeping with all kinds of military females?
Of course not.
If An had any desire like that, the matchmaking agency would send information on outstanding military females selected according to his requirements directly to his terminal and let him choose as he pleased. There was absolutely no need for him to go through such a troublesome, roundabout process.
It could only be something else.
Ulysses had already been trying to guess An's purpose in approaching him. And now that An had voluntarily proposed going to the First Military Region, his objective had to be connected to the First Military Region...
"Your complexion doesn't look very good."
Seeing that Ulysses had been pressing his lips tightly together without saying anything, An Ruo sensed that something was wrong and asked worriedly, "Are you feeling unwell somewhere? Or..."
An Ruo paused before continuing, "Is it because I want to go to the Military Region?"
Using Ulysses to get into the Military Region did, after all, carry the suspicion of using connections to slip in through the back door. It was perfectly normal for Ulysses to be unhappy about it.
If An Ruo had found a legitimate way to enter the First Military Region Prison, he wouldn't have brought it up with Ulysses.
But if this matter would put Ulysses in a difficult position, An Ruo thought he should just keep looking for another way.
There would always be a way.
For example... maybe he could enlist first and become a military doctor?
It would be a little more troublesome and roundabout and take much longer, but it was still a viable method.
"No, that's not it."
After hearing the male's words, Ulysses closed his eyes for a moment and raised a hand to support his aching head, forcing himself to clear his mind.
The confusion lasted only an instant. He quickly regained his rationality, and when he opened his eyes again, they were already completely clear.
He composed himself, lowered his hand, and said seriously to the male,
"When do you intend to go to the Military Region? I'll arrange it for you."
Ulysses thought that before the other party actually did something harmful to the Military Region, he had no reason to stop him.
And perhaps it wouldn't be harmful to the Military Region at all...
A male Zerg willing to perform Psychic Soothing for military females was a good thing for the military females.
He had simply been too trapped in his own emotions earlier.
Ulysses forced himself to calm down, separating himself from his emotions and ignoring the faint, throbbing pain in his heart.
No female Zerg could permanently possess a male Zerg. "Possessiveness" was not considered a virtue in female Zergs and had never been encouraged by Zerg society.
As an excellent soothing specialist who was highly sensitive to fluctuations in Psychic Power and emotions, how could An Ruo possibly fail to notice the change in Ulysses from before to now?
He looked at Ulysses worriedly, reached out to him, pulled him down to sit beside him, and said, "There's no hurry about that. Let me give you Psychic Soothing first."
He supported Ulysses' head, intending to let him rest it on his lap.
Ulysses' body was somewhat stiff, but he still followed An Ruo's guidance and slowly lay down.
Only after his head came to rest on the male's lap did he realize that, as a female Zerg who regularly received soothing from his Male Lord, he wasn't lacking Psychic Soothing at all. There was no need for the other party to expend energy on him.
He opened his mouth to say something, but the male's Psychic Power had already entered.
The comfortable Psychic Power seeped into his mind, carrying an extraordinarily powerful soothing force, as though it could sweep away every shadow within him.
An Ruo's mental consciousness wandered through Ulysses' Psychic Domain, which resembled a vast sea of stars.
He had taken excellent care of Ulysses' Psychic Domain, but at certain moments, Ulysses' Psychic Domain would deteriorate very quickly.
It wasn't severe enough for his mental condition score to plummet rapidly, but it was unquestionably deteriorating. Cosmic storms would rise within that sea of stars, faintly carrying an intent of destruction.
An Ruo could disperse those storms for him again and again, but he couldn't prevent the next storm from forming.
If the underlying problem wasn't completely resolved, those hidden storms might one day destroy Ulysses himself.
An Ruo couldn't find the root of the problem. Yet while caring for Ulysses' Psychic Domain, he had discovered that sometimes a single kiss was more effective than an entire session of Psychic Soothing.
He stopped using Psychic Power to disperse those storms and merely nourished Ulysses' Psychic Domain instead. Then he bent down and kissed him, hooking the loose strands of hair behind his ear as he kissed him with earnest, absorbed concentration.
Ulysses' eyes had widened in astonishment the instant the male's lips touched his. Everything within him was unconsciously open to his male, and he accepted him without the slightest resistance.
Ulysses didn't know why the male had suddenly started doing this to him, especially here on the living-room sofa. They had always done these things in the bedroom before. A place like this was outside Ulysses' comfort zone. But if the Male Lord he had acknowledged wanted him, he wouldn't refuse.
The sofa was fine too.
An Ruo noticed that the storm within Ulysses' Psychic Domain had already come to a standstill, almost as though it had been forced to yield to something more important. Deprived of the energy sustaining it, the storm quickly dissipated as if it had never existed.
At the same time, Ulysses' hands climbed over his body, and his kisses became active and passionate.
By the time An Ruo realized what was happening, it was already too late.
Ulysses was going to do him right there on the sofa.
An Ruo, who had written the little wolf Zerg Ul's doctor-patient sofa roleplay, had never imagined that something like this would one day happen to him.
He was relatively conservative by nature. He wasn't so rigid that everything absolutely had to happen on a bed in the bedroom, and when Ulysses offered him his tail to play with, he would try to accept it. But suddenly moving things all the way to the first-floor living room still made his heart race uncontrollably.
He instinctively checked whether the windows were properly shut, whether the curtains had been drawn, and whether some Zerg might suddenly come to visit.
Of course, a General's residence had excellent privacy, and An Ruo hadn't encountered a single visitor during all the time he'd lived here.
There was a different procedure for visiting a married female Zerg. The consent of either the Female Lord or Male Lord of the household was required, and female Zergs generally wouldn't rashly visit the home of a female Zerg who already had a Male Lord.
And so, lying back on the sofa, An Ruo watched Ulysses straddle him from above. Long black hair spilled down around them, while those silver eyes looked down imperiously and locked onto him. His lips, reddened from kissing, made him look like some demon preparing to devour its prey.
But An Ruo thought that someone as handsome and beautiful as Ulysses had to be an incubus—the kind that drained his essence and blood.
Ulysses raised his eyes and glanced at the painting hanging on the wall behind the sofa. Suddenly, he smiled and lowered himself to kiss An Ruo again.
Cool black hair cascaded around him, covering An Ruo like a curtain.
An Ruo curled a strand of that hair around his finger and sank into the intimacy.
It wasn't until evening, after An Ruo had been cleaned up and tucked into a comfortable bed, that he finally recovered.
Turning his head toward Ulysses, who sat beside him dressed in black silk pajamas, An Ruo suddenly had trouble remembering what he'd originally planned to do today.
He only felt that being with Ulysses was extremely comfortable.
But the next day, when Ulysses was preparing to leave for Military Headquarters, An Ruo still remembered his objective and decided to go with him.
Ulysses glanced at An Ruo trailing behind him like a little tail. He didn't refuse and simply let him follow.
Just as An Ruo had once taken care of him, Ulysses fetched a hat and put it on his head, then wrapped a scarf around him, took his hand, and led him outside before boarding the aircraft together.
An Ruo propped his chin on his hand and looked through the aircraft window at the weather outside.
It was cloudy today, with a slight breeze, but wasn't Ulysses going a little too far by bundling him up like this?
He had even put knitted gloves on him.
An Ruo looked at the warm yellow gloves on his hands and thought he looked like a clumsy duck. But since Ulysses had personally put them on him, he still didn't take them off.
He asked Ulysses, "Will bringing me to the Military Region like this cause trouble for you?"
Across from him, Ulysses raised his eyes slightly and said calmly, "No."
He was a General of the First Legion. There were only a handful of Zergs in the entire Zerg race capable of causing trouble for him.
As long as the male didn't bring home a whole crowd of Female Attendants for him, Ulysses wouldn't run into any trouble.
"That's great."
An Ruo was delighted and genuinely breathed a sigh of relief.
Judging from Ulysses' attitude yesterday, he'd thought this might be difficult to arrange and had even prepared himself for Ulysses to refuse.
Still, now that he thought about it, it was strange.
After one night's sleep, the aura surrounding Ulysses had suddenly become much gentler, and he was much easier to talk to.
Maybe this was what they called... seduction and pillow talk?
An Ruo felt just a teeny, tiny bit guilty.
But when he thought of Selerus, of Ulysses' female parent, and of all the military females who had suffered the same fate, his resolve hardened again.
This was both for Ulysses and for everyone else.
Ulysses opened his terminal, brought up a list, and asked him, "Which female Zerg do you intend to start with?"
This was a list he had specifically compiled last night. It contained the female Zergs in the First Military Region who required Psychic Soothing, and Ulysses had personally organized the information and sorted it in several different ways.
Although the male hadn't brought it up again last night, after learning what he wanted, Ulysses had still gone ahead and prepared everything, just in case it was needed.
As a female Zerg, he had to keep every thought of his male firmly in mind.
Although it was completely impossible to say that he didn't care, Ulysses still chose to leave the decision in the male's hands.
For some inexplicable reason, he felt that this male Zerg was different.
He felt that An wouldn't treat him that way.
If even a shred of Ulysses' rationality had remained, it would have told him that trusting a male Zerg meant a female Zerg's brain had completely broken down and become infected with the lovesick-brain virus.
But there was nothing he could do about it.
His rationality had been crashing around An for a long time.
Even though he understood everything perfectly well, he still wanted to believe him.
To believe in that impossible possibility.
An Ruo looked at the list on the light screen. Ignoring all the other information, he focused solely on their mental condition scores and discovered that almost all of the female Zergs had scores above 60.
Ulysses had deliberately chosen female Zergs who would be easy for him to soothe and wouldn't pose any danger to him.
But that wasn't An Ruo's main objective.
He looked away and said directly, "I want to start with the Military Region Prison. You know, those... female Zergs suffering from Psychic Riot who are imprisoned underground."
Ulysses abruptly raised his eyes.
His sharp gaze bore straight into An Ruo.
The Military Region Prison.
Female Zergs suffering from Psychic Riot.
Those were military secrets known only to a small number of insiders.
An Ruo tilted his head in confusion and asked, "I can't?"
Ulysses stared at him for a long moment before finally lowering his eyes.
"It's too dangerous."
An Ruo knew that Ulysses was worried about him. Trying to persuade him, he said,
"Don't worry, I have experience!"
An Ruo was only one step away from thumping his chest and guaranteeing it personally.
