Chapter 129: Male Zerg Star Pirate × Female Zerg Undercover Agent (13): "I’m Husband Material." Ul Recommends Himself to the Female Zerg
【"Well... it started during your very first month after joining the Wolf Crew."
Ul thought back as he spoke.
"You really threw yourself into everything back then. You rushed headfirst into every dangerous mission, always saying you wanted to earn money as a star pirate so you could go back and marry a Male Zerg. You fought like your life meant nothing, and you made a name for yourself among the pirates incredibly quickly."
"Female Zergs who overuse the power of their insect markings become mentally unstable. You were practically gambling with your life. By the time I got to the infirmary, you'd already passed out. I gave you some basic Psychic Soothing and changed out those blood-soaked clothes..."
As he reached that point, Ul's eyes drifted away.
That female Zerg really had an incredible body.
If the female hadn't been an undercover agent—and if all that talk about earning money to marry a Male Zerg hadn't been a lie—Ul might have wanted to pursue him himself.
Avis had no memory of any of this.
All he knew was that the Wolf Crew's medical facilities were astonishing.
No matter how serious his injuries were, one night asleep in the medical bay always left him completely healed and refreshed.
Back then, he'd even sighed in admiration, thinking the rule about never killing doctors during wartime truly existed for a reason.
He'd even planned that after returning to the Federation, he'd somehow find a way to bring those two mimic octopus-monster doctors back with him.
Now he realized...
His recovery had had nothing to do with the tentacle monsters.
It was because there had been a high-ranking Male Zerg aboard the ship.
"So... it was always... you?"
Avis asked.
"Mm. More or less."
Ul nodded.
Physical injuries healed naturally for female Zergs.
Most of the time, Avis simply came to the infirmary to sleep inside a recovery pod and restore his mental condition.
Ul would quietly perform a little shallow Psychic Soothing according to his condition.
He never went too deeply into Avis's Psychic Domain, so the female never noticed.
He only slept more deeply...
And more comfortably.
The few times Avis actually came in injured, Ul merely helped him change clothes.
He never even had the chance to apply medicine.
A high-ranking female Zerg's regenerative abilities were simply too powerful.
There had never been much opportunity for Ul to demonstrate his medical skills on Avis.
Still...
He had always liked seeing him.
Whether it was the handsome sleeping face...
Or that exceptionally attractive body...
Simply looking at him put him in a good mood.
Though...
As time passed...
Watching him come back injured began to hurt.
It stopped being quite so enjoyable.
Today, however...
Was completely different.
Doctor Ul happily hugged his medical case and said,
"Come on! Sit down! Let me examine you!"
Avis still had countless questions.
But under Ul's direction, he obediently sat down on the sofa.
The tense atmosphere from moments ago had completely disappeared.
Even the cold expression on Avis's face could no longer be maintained.
He raised a hand and undid the buttons of his coat, revealing the lines of his waist outlined beneath his shirt.
Somewhat awkwardly, he said,
"It's already been six weeks... but I still haven't started showing."
"Oh!"
Ul nodded repeatedly.
Then, looking thoroughly fascinated, reached over and gently felt his abdomen before scanning it with a medical device.
A holographic image appeared before them.
Inside floated the tiny life growing within the egg sac.
"It's a female egg."
Faint insect markings had already begun appearing across the surface of the embryo.
"Mm."
Avis answered softly, then looked toward the Male Zerg.
He had already seen this image countless times.
Every day he watched the tiny changes in the embryo.
Instead...
It was the Male Zerg's expression of complete concentration that he'd never seen before.
Those eyes overflowing with amazement and joy.
Those fluttering eyelashes.
Those slightly parted lips...
He couldn't help wondering...
Whether this hatchling might convince the Male Zerg to stay.
Even if only...
For a few months.
"When she grows up, she'll definitely look just like you."
Ul turned back and smiled at him.
Avis had no idea how he could tell such a thing from an embryo that hadn't even developed properly yet.
Its outline was still blurred.
Only the faint beating of the tiny heart tube could really be seen.
"Since it's a female egg, her hair and eye color will probably resemble yours."
Avis said.
"That's great!"
Ul beamed.
Then quickly added,
"But her facial features should look like yours!"
"Mm."
Infected by the Male Zerg's happiness, Avis couldn't help beginning to look forward to their hatchling's future as well.
"Can I hug her?"
Ul set down the scanner.
Rubbing his hands together with eager anticipation.
"You can."
Avis nodded.
Ul bent down.
Wrapped an arm around Avis's waist.
Then gently rested his cheek against his abdomen.
Watching the Male Zerg's movements...
Feeling that quiet closeness...
The tension that had remained wound tightly inside Avis for so long slowly melted °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° away.
Perhaps...
He really could make the Male Zerg stay.
Ul quietly sniffed around Avis.
There was almost no trace of his own scent left.
Only the warm...
Soft...
Uniquely pregnant scent that naturally drew Male Zergs in and awakened their possessiveness.
"Didn't you use my pheromones at all this past month?"
Ul looked up and asked.
"...No."
Avis lowered his eyes.
The hand resting beside him rubbed nervously against itself.
He didn't explain why.
There had been too little pheromone.
He hadn't believed the Male Zerg would really return.
He had wanted to save every bit of it for the hatchling.
But...
The Male Zerg had come back.
He was standing right before him.
"Then I need to perform another examination."
As Ul spoke, he reached toward the female's buttons.
Avis's body stiffened.
But under the Male Zerg's gentle reassurance, he soon relaxed again.
He offered no resistance.
Instead...
He instinctively welcomed the Male Zerg he'd been separated from for an entire month.
Only halfway through...
Did something suddenly occur to him.
He looked toward the brightly lit window.
His pupils contracted.
"The curtains..."
"They're still open."
On the sofa in the first-floor living room...
A pregnant female Zerg living alone...
And the Male Zerg doctor who had supposedly come to examine him...
The scene looked...
Far too eager.
Far too impatient.
"It's alright."
"Relax."
"No one's coming."
Ul's Psychic Power had already spread throughout the surrounding area.
He could sense anyone approaching.
The subtle mental suggestion he'd left behind would naturally cause others to avoid this place.
But Avis clearly didn't believe him.
He bit down hard enough to make Ul wince.
Left with no choice, Ul used his own body to shield him.
His loose, newly changed doctor's coat also fell around them, hiding Avis from view.
Even so...
Avis couldn't completely relax.
He clung tightly to him.
Only after they moved upstairs...
Into the bedroom with its curtains tightly drawn...
Did Avis finally relax completely...
Accepting him without reservation.
After going so long without the Male Zerg's pheromones...
Finally being nourished by them again...
Avis slept deeply.
When he woke once more...
The Male Zerg was gone.
Again.
For the second time.
His heart suddenly felt empty.
Only the sound of vegetables being chopped downstairs pulled him back to reality.
Wrapping a coat around himself, he walked downstairs.
There he found the Male Zerg calmly preparing ingredients in the kitchen.
The sight left him dazed for a moment.
It reminded him of the last breakfast the Male Zerg had made for him.
This Male Zerg...
Who had grown up among star pirates...
Really seemed capable of everything.
Which also meant...
No one had ever taken proper care of him.
Otherwise...
He wouldn't have needed to learn so many things himself.
Avis frowned slightly.
Quietly blaming those wolf-beastman pirates for not knowing how to raise a Male Zerg.
Walking into the kitchen, he reached out and took the knife from Ul's hand.
"I'll do it."
Ul turned around.
His expression immediately filled with surprise.
He looked Avis up and down.
"Are you sure?"
At first, Avis didn't understand.
Then he followed the Male Zerg's gaze...
Toward himself.
Only then did he suddenly realize...
He had rushed downstairs wearing nothing except an outer robe.
There was absolutely nothing underneath.
Avis froze instantly.
His mind went completely blank.
Ul chuckled softly.
After drying his hands, he gently pulled the robe closed around him.
Yesterday...
The female had refused because the living room curtains weren't drawn.
Yet today...
He'd come downstairs dressed like this.
That really was surprising.
Perhaps...
Pregnant females simply became a little absent-minded.
Smiling, Ul asked,
"So why did you come downstairs dressed like this?"
"Were you in such a hurry to find me?"
"...Or did you miss me that much?"
Avis looked at him.
Speaking quietly,
"I was afraid..."
"...that you'd disappear again."
Ul paused.
Meeting Avis's unwavering gaze.
He gently stroked the tense, handsome face before him.
Softly he said,
"I won't."
"I've already taken care of everything."
"I came back this time..."
"...to marry you."
"Didn't you always say you wanted to earn enough money to marry a Male Zerg?"
"What do you think of me?"
Ul smiled.
"I'm husband material."
He openly recommended himself to the female Zerg.
