I Write Novels in a Zerg Prison
Chapter 124: Male Zerg Star Pirate × Female Zerg Undercover Agent (8): 'Can I Mark You One More Time?'
After the book club ended, the male Zergs all returned home, making posts and sharing their thoughts.
#Shocking! Male Zerg Uriel Was Actually the Reverse Undercover Agent Planted by the Wolf Crew!#
The female Zergs didn't believe it at all.
[Lord Uriel is so adorable, so pitiful. How could he possibly be an undercover agent?]
[He's just a little male Zerg who needs to be rescued!]
Even after reading the analysis posts and beginning to waver, they stubbornly refused to admit it.
[His Lordship must have had his reasons!]
[What bad thing could a male Zerg possibly do? He's just a beautiful, delicate little male Zerg.]
[The moment I saw him sitting there wearing a female's shirt, I knew none of this was his fault.]
[It's all the star pirates' fault! It has to be the star pirates!!]
[Exactly! Those evil Wolf Beastmen kidnapped His Lordship, forced him to accept wolf culture, and made him work for the pirate crew.]
[We have to rescue His Lordship! (teary-eyed) (determined)]
[Get him out of the pirate crew and let him experience the warmth of Zerg culture. (hug)]
The male Zergs: "..."
Unbelievable.
The female Zergs couldn't see through the male Zerg's disguise.
And even if they did, they'd willingly pretend they hadn't.
Avis was also a master at pretending not to notice.
...
["My Lord, please don't be afraid. I'll protect you. I swear I'll get you out of here safely."
Avis held the male Zerg's cool hand, trying to pass his own warmth into it.
Uriel: "..."
"Are you sure we shouldn't think this through a little more?"
Uriel was in a daze.
Just last night they had clung to each other desperately, sharing the most intimate thing in the world. The female Zerg had opened everything to him, allowing himself to be marked and claimed, every inch of him carrying Uriel's scent.
So why were they suddenly fleeing for their lives today?
"This opportunity won't come again."
Avis draped a cloak over the male Zerg's shoulders, his gaze full of care and solemn determination.
"The longer we wait, the harder it'll be to escape. We have to seize this chance and gamble on it."
What Avis didn't say was that he suspected something had gone wrong within the military.
Otherwise, how could he explain the fact that he'd already sent information about the male Zerg back to headquarters, yet the military had taken no action?
Meanwhile, the moment another male Zerg's spacecraft had been hijacked, Major Iso, who just happened to be conducting exercises nearby, had immediately launched a rescue.
They were both male Zergs.
There was no reason for such different treatment.
The more likely explanation was that something had gone wrong within the organization itself, and the message he'd sent had been intercepted.
He was completely alone now.
He could no longer count on military intervention.
He had to rescue His Lordship himself.
After tying the cloak securely, Avis looked quietly at the beautiful, delicate face beneath the hood, his eyes full of heartache.
"Do you trust me?"
he asked softly.
Looking down at him with such emotion, it almost seemed as though he was about to kiss him.
Instead, Uriel kissed him first.
Their lips met gently and intimately, as though they were exchanging their hearts—or perhaps probing each other more deeply.
Finally, Uriel adjusted the hood that had slipped halfway down and followed him outside.
Along the way, they didn't encounter a single pirate.
It was obvious Avis had arranged everything beforehand.
Uriel secretly glanced at the female Zerg beside him.
Those years as the pirate crew's vice captain clearly hadn't been for nothing.
Avis carried Uriel into a heavily modified aircraft.
The small craft departed from the massive pirate flagship, a fortress of steel bearing the Wolf Crew's insignia, and headed toward the distant stars.
Sitting inside the aircraft, Uriel watched the enormous ship gradually disappear into the distance.
Avis remained in the cockpit, personally piloting the craft along the escape route he'd prepared in advance.
Even after leaving the Wolf Crew's surveillance range, he didn't relax for a second.
When Uriel entered the cockpit, Avis's arms were still tense, his profile cold and stern.
Only now did he truly look like a military female Zerg again.
"This aircraft can't cross interstellar space and return to Zerg territory. We'll have to stop at the transfer station on Goldsand Star first and switch to another ship."
His tone was calm, as though he wanted to reassure the male Zerg.
But the one who was truly uneasy was Avis himself.
Perhaps he'd already sensed something.
Or perhaps it was merely instinctive anxiety.
No matter what awaited him, it wouldn't end well.
Even returning to the Federation might simply mean facing another trial.
Even so...
He still chose to take Uriel away.
Uriel rested his chin atop Avis's head and hugged him from behind.
Avis froze in the pilot's seat.
"H-Here? Right now? We... we can't..."
Feeling the male Zerg's hand resting across his chest, Avis's mind went blank, and even his voice stiffened.
Male Zergs hated being refused.
The moment the words left his mouth, he pressed his lips together, silently preparing himself for the male Zerg's anger.
But the male Zerg behind him simply continued hugging him quietly without saying a word.
Avis couldn't tell whether this was silent resistance... or whether the male Zerg simply felt insecure.
He switched the aircraft to autopilot and set the destination for Goldsand Star Transfer Station.
Then he stood up and led the male Zerg to the lounge in the rear.
The moment they entered, he raised a hand to undo his shirt buttons and removed his jacket.
At a time like this...
The only way he knew to comfort the male Zerg was with his own body, reassuring him of his control over him.
Or perhaps...
He himself also wanted to draw strength from that physical closeness.
"No... not that."
Uriel stopped him.
The female Zerg seemed emotionally drained.
Uriel could tell he wasn't in high spirits.
But strangely, after being stopped, Avis's expression became even worse.
His hand remained frozen over the buttons of his shirt, unable to continue.
Uriel took his hand and guided him over to sit beside him.
This time, it was Uriel who held Avis's hand.
Only then did he realize that the female Zerg's palms weren't warm either.
"So... according to your plan, we'll head to Goldsand Star first, then return to the Zerg Federation?"
Uriel asked.
"No. We'll stay on Goldsand Star for a while first and investigate the situation."
Afraid the male Zerg might misunderstand, Avis hurried to explain,
"Please don't worry. I'll definitely take you back to the Federation. I'm not trying to keep you for myself."
Uriel: "...I wouldn't exactly mind... Uh, I mean... staying here for a while first is fine."
Avis quietly let out a sigh of relief and squeezed the male Zerg's hand even tighter.
Seeing him so nervous, as though he feared being abandoned, Uriel couldn't quite understand it.
He leaned over and kissed Avis's lips.
Avis tensed for a brief moment beneath the kiss before gradually relaxing, gently returning it.
Uriel seemed to have learned the Zerg method of comforting someone.
It didn't seem all that different from wolves.
He laid Avis down on the sofa and patiently soothed him.
Avis clung tightly to him—far more desperately than he had aboard the pirate ship.
Uriel's scalp tingled from it.
In the end, Uriel lay on Avis's chest and asked whether he might become pregnant.
Avis paused briefly, his hand brushing over the abdomen that had already been filled completely before answering,
"The fertility rate of high-ranking Zergs is very low. Unless our genetic compatibility is extremely high, it isn't easy to conceive an egg."
"So it's not easy..."
Uriel sounded a little disappointed.
Among wolves, the Alpha carried the responsibility of ensuring the continuation of the entire pack.
Although things weren't as strict as they once were, and beastmen besides the Alpha pair were now free to reproduce on their own, everyone still placed their greatest hopes on the Alpha.
It was simply part of being the leader.
Uriel felt he ought to work a little harder.
He looked at Avis.
"Can I mark you one more time?"
Avis was momentarily stunned.
Then he slowly nodded.
...]
[Wait... what exactly just happened?]
[Allow me to explain. They repeated the marking process several times.]
[Who asked about that? (black bug question-mark face) I have eyes. I could already see that.]
[Then what did that narration mean? Wolves? Alpha? Leader???]
[Isn't it obvious? That male Zerg identifies himself as the Alpha of a wolf pack. Which means... he's probably the true leader of the Wolf Crew. The mastermind behind everything. In other words... Avis just escaped together with the leader of the Wolf Crew. (facepalm)]
[But he's a male Zerg! How could he have anything to do with wolves?! (horrified)]
[I remember His Lordship once saying he was adopted and had an adoptive father and older brothers. We all assumed he must have been adopted by female Zergs. But... what if he wasn't? What if he was raised by a group of Wolf Beastman pirates instead?]
[The wolf race has been picking up and raising the young of other races for millions of years... and this time they actually picked up a precious male Zerg! Do you even know how to raise a male Zerg?!]
[Look what you've turned His Lordship into! Carrying the responsibility of reproducing for the wolf pack?! (horrified) My Lord, you're a male Zerg! A male Zerg!]
[Even now, Avis still believes His Lordship's disguise was only meant to deceive him into helping him escape. It never even crossed his mind that His Lordship might actually be a pirate.]
[Who would ever imagine that? Not only is he a pirate, he might actually be the pirate chief.]
[It's over... Will Avis even make it back alive?]
[He has to! And bring His Lordship back with him! Such a precious high-ranking male Zerg can't be left as a pirate!]
[His Lordship should be contributing to the continuation of the Zerg race, not some wolf pack!]
[Exactly! His Lordship should come back and have little hatchlings with me! (hopeful)]
...
[Goldsand Star.
Avis spent the entire morning gathering information before finally returning around noon.
After winding through countless twisting corridors and arriving back at their temporary residence, he found the male Zerg tinkering with a pile of machinery.
Disassembling it.
Reassembling it.
Modifying it.
The old machines seemed to come alive beneath his hands.
Avis stared in amazement.
"My Lord... what are you making?"
he asked.
"Something to exchange for money."
Without even looking up, Uriel continued making the final adjustments.
"The currency here isn't accepted anywhere else. You either barter directly or trade goods for the local currency."
Avis's heart tightened.
Since when should a male Zerg have to worry about earning money?
He immediately began blaming himself for failing to provide enough, making His Lordship worry about their livelihood.
The answer was obvious.
"You don't need to concern yourself with any of that. I prepared a large amount of energy ore before we left. It's more than enough to cover our living expenses. And if it isn't, I can always take jobs to earn more."
Avis spoke urgently.
"I know you're capable. But I can't just sit around doing nothing all the time."
Whenever Uriel had too much free time, he became restless and naturally started building things.
Besides...
Males were supposed to support the family.
He couldn't keep letting his female provide for him forever.
Among wolves, male beastmen who lived off their females got bitten by them.
Uriel definitely didn't want Avis chasing after him, biting his ears and tail.
Fortunately, he didn't have a tail.
Though Avis might bite somewhere else instead.
Thinking about it made Uriel blush slightly.
That part of him was still very delicate.
He absolutely couldn't let himself get bitten there.
Male Zergs, of course, were perfectly entitled to stay idle.
Female Zergs supporting male Zergs was considered completely natural.
Avis had no idea why Uriel would think otherwise and became so anxious that he didn't know what to say.
After finishing his work, Uriel admired his creation with satisfaction.
Only then did he notice Avis still standing by the doorway.
"So? How are things outside?"
Avis was silent for a moment before closing the door behind him and walking inside.
"Major Iso successfully rescued the male Zerg and captured a group of star pirates. The Wolf Crew apparently received some sort of warning and evacuated that sector ahead of time, so they never encountered Major Iso's forces."
Whether that counted as good news or bad, he couldn't say.
After living with the Wolf Crew for three years, it would have been impossible not to develop feelings for them.
If they had truly been captured, he would have tried every connection he had, hired lawyers, and done everything possible to reduce their sentences.
But the Wolf Crew's perfectly timed withdrawal also confirmed another suspicion.
Information had leaked.
There was a traitor inside the military.
Thinking of that, Avis's expression grew heavy.
Uriel, however, seemed to have expected it all along.
After wiping his hands, he led Avis over to sit down and poured him a cup of homemade fruit tea.
"You've been out all morning. You must be exhausted. Sit down and rest for a while. Don't worry about all that anymore. We're safe here. No matter how chaotic things get outside, it won't affect us."
Avis accepted the tea the male Zerg handed him.
He couldn't help envying the ease with which Uriel viewed the situation.
But the male Zerg was right.
They really were safe now.
Everything had settled.
Which also meant...
He could finally bring the male Zerg home.
Back to the Zerg Federation.
Avis's thumb slowly brushed over the cool surface of the cup.
Yet when he thought about leaving this place...
Leaving this life...
He found himself unexpectedly reluctant.
Because once they returned to the Federation...
The relationship they had now would never exist again.
His own male Zerg would ✧ NоvеIight ✧ (Original source) personally send him to stand trial.
