Morning later.

He rose, slipped into a fresh combat uniform, and buckled his utility belt. After grabbing a quick mug of black coffee from the mess hall, he stepped into the Tactical Operations Center.

The atmosphere in the command center was already buzzing with activity. Large tactical screens displayed the telemetry feed of Global Hawk One cruising smoothly at sixty thousand feet, sweeping its high-altitude synthetic aperture radar eastward across the Endless Azure Ocean.

"Morning, Commander," Captain Hayes greeted, setting down a morning briefing datapad. "Global Hawk One reached cruising altitude without issue. Flight plan is clean. Initial mapping telemetry is buffering through our screens."

"Good," John said, taking a sip of coffee before walking toward the central holographic pool. "Let’s turn our attention to the water. We need absolute maritime superiority if we’re going to bottle up the empire before they ever reach this coastline."

John brought up his current naval manifest within the system interface.

[UNITED STATES NAVAL FORCES - CURRENT DEPLOYMENT]

- 1x Arleigh Burke-class Flight III Guided-Missile Destroyer (AEGIS Baseline 10, 96-cell Mk 41 VLS)

- 1x Virginia-class Fast-Attack Nuclear-Powered Submarine (SSN, Tomahawk/Mk 48 Torpedoes)

- 4x Mk VI Patrol Boats (30mm Bushmaster II, Coastal Interdiction)

- 2x LCU-2000 Runnymede-class Landing Craft Utility (Amphibious Logistics)

- 2x SOC-R Special Operations Riverine Craft

[Active Naval Capacity: 10 / 90 Slots]

With only ten active hull allocations currently deployed, he had eighty vacant operational slots remaining. That was more than enough room to deploy a full Carrier Strike Group—complete with a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, guided-missile cruisers, additional destroyers, replenishment ships, and advanced carrier air wings.

However, summoning a supercarrier was vastly different from summoning land-based drones or destroyers. A massive vessel like a Nimitz or Gerald R. Ford-class carrier required deep-water dredge channels, specialized heavy berths, nuclear maintenance facilities, expanded aviation fuel storage, and advanced munitions handling dry docks.

John navigated to the base infrastructure menu to check his available balance.

[BASE INFRASTRUCTURE & HARBOR EXPANSION]

- Available System Points: 1,590,550 SP

- Soul Pool: 1,325 Souls

[Proposed Project: Deepwater Naval Station & Supercarrier Complex]

Scope:

* Deep-draft dredged navigational channels & reinforced berths

* Nuclear vessel servicing & maintenance dry docks

* Heavy aviation fuel farms (JP-5) & underground munitions bunkers

* Automated catapult maintenance & shore-to-ship high-output power grids

Required System Points: 800,000 SP

[Remaining SP After Upgrade: 790,550 SP] [Authorize Construction? Y / N]

Without hesitation, John pressed [YES].

A low, deep subterranean vibration reverberated across the entire island base.

Out in the harbor, heavy automated system constructs hummed to life. Massive concrete seawalls extended outward into the deep channel, deep-water dredging barriers reshaped the shoreline, and enormous reinforced pier networks with heavy-lift cranes rose from the water under the morning sunlight.

"Ah, this system is too overpowered. It just terraforms the island," John chuckled. "I wonder how the denizens would react if they were to witness it..."

"Wait, the elf, Elenore..." John paused, setting his coffee mug down on the edge of the console.

Between the high-intensity combat operation at the bay, securing the alliance treaty with Lyra, and the late-night interrogation of the two Solarian captives, he had completely forgotten about their other guest.

"Hayes," John turned toward his intelligence officer. "How is Elenore holding up?"

"Well sir, during the operation, you kind of given her a leeway to explore the base herself under escort of course."

"I see, well I want to see her. Can you bring her here to the TOC?" John asked.

"Right away, sir," Hayes replied, bringing his radio up to his lips. "Command to Security Detail Two. Escort our elven guest to the main command deck."

"Detail Two copies."

John stood by the central holographic planning table, watching the real-time telemetry from Global Hawk One stream across the multi-display video wall. Less than twenty minutes later, the pneumatic blast doors of the TOC slid open.

Two armed specialists entered first, stepping aside to let Elenore through.

When she spotted John standing near the glowing blue map table, she stopped in her tracks, clutching the hem of her sleeves tightly before giving a deep, graceful bow.

"Commander John..." Elenore spoke softly, her voice carrying a melodic, slightly breathless tone. "I... I was told you wished to speak with me."

"At ease, Elenore," John said with a friendly, reassuring smile, gesturing toward the open space near the central console. "It’s been a while since we last spoke."

"Yes, you were going on a mission to save the beastkin tribe," Elenore recalled. "How did it go?"

"It went exactly as planned," John answered smoothly, leaning against the edge of the holographic table. "The Solarian vanguard that attacked the settlement has been completely wiped out. The Ironclaw tribe took some heavy casualties before we intervened, but the survivors are safe and secure. We’ve established a formal sovereign alliance with their new leader, Lyra."

Elenore let out a long, trembling breath, her shoulders dropping in profound relief. She closed her eyes for a moment, whispering a silent word of thanks.

"I see, that is a good to hear. Though, the invading forces, Solarian Empire...I haven’t heard of a country."

"Doesn’t matter, that Empire is one of the greatest threats to our state so we are preparing every contingencies. Nothing to worry about."

"Anyways, do you want to, you know, visit the Ironclaw Tribe?" he offered, leaning slightly over the holographic console. "Our engineers and logistical convoys are heading out via landing craft this morning to deliver prefabricated building materials, medical supplies, and food rations. You’ve been cooped up on this base since we pulled you off that galleon. A change of scenery might do you good."

Elenore’s emerald eyes widened with a mix of surprise and genuine curiosity. Her slender ears twitched upward.

"That would be lovely," Elenore said. "But would it be fine?"

"Of course it’s fine," John said with an easy smile.

"In that case, Commander... I would be honored to accompany you," she said, offering a polite, graceful nod.

"But before all that, there’s something I have to do first, but be prepared at any moment."
