Ben had acted very confidently, claiming he would be able to get the lady her night eagle, when in fact, he had no clue how to go about it.

Considering the lady probably lived nowhere close to the city, he knew if they parted ways there, he would not be seeing her for a very long time or ever again.

That’s what happens when there are no modern ways to keep in touch.

He could see that, even though the lady was trying her hardest to maintain her composure, she was still heavily saddened by the loss of that bid and genuinely wanted to call it a night.

So what she needed was something to lift her spirits, and the most direct way would be to assist with the problem.

As Ben walked towards the burly man with a few gold teeth, whose servants were about to put the finishing touches to securing the night eagle for transport.

Ben’s thoughts began to run through every detail of the man, looking for a way in, a vulnerability he might leverage.

This person had a large frame, a small weird looking hat on his head, about six feet three in height, wearing high tread count clothing, bedazzled in accents of gold and gemmed embroidery.

His shirt was tight-fitting, highlighting the strength in his muscles, with a black woollen coat running down the length of his back.

He looked quite imposing, added to the fact that, just like the lady, he too was at the late-stage noble knight realm.

As his deep gaze locked onto Ben who was approaching, Ben could feel the man trying to gauge his essence. But Ben knew he would still come out empty-handed.

Suddenly, Ben noticed something. Aside from the ugly scar running across the man’s face, there was also the fact that his hairline appeared to be a little off underneath that hat.

Ben smiled as an idea sprang into his mind, and he finally arrived in front of the man, greeting him with a polite smile...

"Hello, there. If it’s not a bother, could you spare me a moment of your time?"

The man ran a full appraisal of Ben from head to toe, and just then, one of his guards approached from the side and whispered something into the man’s ears, which caused him to nod once, then returned his gaze to Ben.

"Well, Hello..... They call me Goldtooth...." the man introduced himself to Ben, stretching out his hand for a handshake.

"What can I do for you ... .Mr Hardwood ?" he added.

At this point, Ben was no longer shocked that a third stranger now already knew who he was.

He was more disturbed that he knew very little or nothing at all about these people, yet they were so connected that they could quickly dig out his origins.

Only the auctioneer, Kalem, and his assistant, Lutia, did he know a little about; as for the lady he was trying to get in her pants or this fellow before him, he knew nothing.

’I need to establish my own means of gathering information.’

Ben thought as he shook the smiling man’s strong hand, his teeth sparkling gold from the glow of the hanging street lamps.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Goldtooth..... I was just wondering if you could do me a little favor, and allow the lady to buy back the Night Eagle from you."

Ben threw in his intention, always the best way to start. He also realised he still didn’t even know the lady’s name. But Goldtooth appeared to already know who he was referring to.

"Hahaha...I wondered what you were going to ask for, but it’s a no, young man...."

"....I’ll tell you the same thing I told the white widow....."

"This specimen would serve a purpose more important than any benefits you might potentially suggest in exchange..... "

"So don’t waste your time and just move on ... .Godtooth does not deal in losing deals."

"And here’s a piece of advice, young man. Be careful who you acquaint yourself with....."

"I know that even without what makes us men, there are other ways to quell our thirst..."

"But even when things were normal, the sensible ones were still cautious about that one."

Goldtooth gave some brotherly advice to Ben, subtly looking towards the lady’s carriage in the distance and flashing him a golden smile before turning back around.

Ben did appreciate his genuine care, and he also got to learn the name of the lady he was trying to bed, but such concerns did nothing to derail his goal.

"What if I tell you that I can heal that large scar on your face completely?!"

Ben suddenly announced to Goldtooth, who paused his movement.

Before anything else, Hardwood Ben Dover was first and foremost an actual doctor..... A plastic surgeon as a specialty,

Though he had been misunderstood as a healer, which he was not, taking care of such a scar would be no big deal for him.

Goldtooth did a slow turn, a carefree smile on his face as he said...

"Hey, firstly...."

"I like my scar, young man. It’s my pride, my identity..."

"And second of all, you are just an apprentice healer still wet behind the ears."

"Leave things here, young man. I’ve been nice only because of your potential, and who you are connected to..."

"Don’t push it..... and do a little research on who Goldrooth is."

Goldtooth’s voice at the end came out a little stern, to show he wasn’t so happy about having his scar pointed out like that.

Just when Goldtooth thought Ben had given up, he said something that caused his anger to flare up....

"But what if I tell you that I can help with your balding?"

The moment those words came out of Ben’s lips, he felt a sudden pressure slam into him, the type that would be enough to bring a mortal to their knees, but not to harm them too much.

Goldtooth was pissed off and fuming; his demeanor had changed.

He wanted to humble the arrogant young man who had brought out his biggest insecurity.

He wanted to punish him but not to go overboard because of who this person was, just enough to make him regret bringing the topic of his balding hair up.

But when he turned around, the young man was still standing there as he was, completely fine.

This caused him immense shock, but before he could take any further action, the young man had walked up to him, and he said....

"Grant me this favor.....Mr Goldtooth..."

"And I will make it so your balding head regains the glory of its youth."
