Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Vilia’s Big Secret

"Lord Village Chief!"

When Old Yor saw Vili, his eyes filled with reverence.

Vili’s fame had now spread throughout all of Diamond Town. As one of his villagers, Old Yor felt an immense sense of pride. It even made him a little grateful for being forced to move to Fandou Village back then.

"You’ve worked hard, Old Yor."

As soon as Vili entered the village, he noticed that the Beans and Star-Spotted Snow Roots at the entrance were showing gratifying growth. The roads in Fandou Village had also been tidied, and the village’s basic infrastructure was mostly complete.

You could say that, aside from its relatively new buildings, no one would ever guess Fandou Village was newly established.

Normally, it would take at least three to five years for a new village to reach this stage. Fandou Village, however, had been under construction for less than half a year. While Vili himself had played a part in this transformation, the contributions of Old Yor and Lake were even more crucial.

Upon receiving Vili’s praise, Old Yor’s face immediately flushed with a healthy glow, and his spirits lifted. He naturally took the horse’s reins for Vili, following half a step behind him.

"Lord Village Chief, while you were away, Mr. Lacas and Mr. Finlay from the Divar Family came by a few more times to discuss the sale of the Star-Spotted Snow Roots with us."

Old Yor had only just then remembered to tell Vili the important news.

"And what was the result?"

Vili asked casually, his eyes still taking in the changes around Fandou Village.

Old Yor hesitated for a moment, then cautiously glanced at Vili’s expression. "Since you were away, Lord Lake and I... we’ve already made an agreement with the Divar Family to sell the Star-Spotted Snow Roots... Rest assured, Lord Lake and I only set the price after many discussions. We..."

"Get to the point."

Vili waved his hand, uninterested in the details.

’As the Village Chief of Fandou Village, my job is to provide direction, not to personally handle every single detail. That would be exhausting.’

"The agreement we signed sets the price at thirty Gold Rums per Star-Spotted Snow Root. We have a total of twenty-three that were planted and survived. Conservatively, we expect an income of over six hundred Gold Rums after spring."

Seeing no displeasure on Vili’s face, Old Yor breathed a small sigh of relief.

Vili nodded. The price was reasonable.

’Although Star-Spotted Snow Root is extremely rare and supplied exclusively to Great Nobles, its price can’t be raised to the absurd levels of Sweet Star Grass. First, its effect is to maintain health and slow aging, not to cure diseases or treat emergencies. Second, its customers are Great Nobles. It’s simply impossible to gouge a clientele like that with exorbitant prices.’

Vili even suspected the Divar Family might not be able to recoup their cost of thirty Gold Rums per root. ’Perhaps the Divar Family doesn’t even care about profit or loss; they just want to use the Star-Spotted Snow Root to establish connections with Great Nobles. Of course, none of that is my problem.’

"The price is reasonable. The Divar Family seems trustworthy enough."

Vili’s words finally put Old Yor’s anxious heart at ease.

As if remembering something, Vili added a reminder, "Oh, and for the next little while, pay close attention to the area below the main stem of the Star-Spotted Snow Roots. See if a small bulge forms. If you find one, you must remove it before it turns dark green. What’s growing inside are the seeds of the Star-Spotted Snow Root."

The timing and method of seed production for Star-Spotted Snow Root were different from other plants, so Vili had to give a special warning. He didn’t want to wait until deep winter, only to have all the seeds freeze. These seeds could be planted again next year, and they would become a major source of income for Fandou Village.

"Understood, Lord Village Chief."

Although it was the first time he’d heard of such a strange method of seed production, Old Yor took it to heart. He had already decided that he would personally keep a close watch on the Star-Spotted Snow Roots’ growth in the coming days.

Soon, Vili arrived at his front door.

As he entered the yard, he saw Vilia with several other children her age, all gathered around Wally.

As the Lord Village Chief’s younger sister, Vilia had now become the king of the kids in Fandou Village.

"Lord Village Chief!"

Before Old Yor even had a chance to scold them, the children quickly bowed to Vili, their expressions showing a deep, heartfelt respect.

Every day, these children’s fathers and mothers told them stories of the Lord Village Chief’s brilliant achievements. They were encouraged to see the Lord Village Chief as a role model, to set high goals, and to grow up to be great and outstanding figures just like him.

So, whenever they saw Vili, their eyes would light up.

"Vili!"

Vilia threw herself into Vili’s arms. Wally also squirmed over, nudging at Vili’s feet, panting as he rubbed his head again and again against Vili’s pant leg.

The sight of Vilia hugging Vili filled the other children’s eyes with immense envy.

Vili gently tapped the back of Vilia’s head and turned to Old Yor. "Old Yor, take the candy I prepared in my bag and give it to the children."

"Thank you for your generosity."

Old Yor first gave Vili a heartfelt bow before carefully distributing the colorful candies from Vili’s pack to the children.

Watching the happy expressions on the faces of the children who received candy, Vilia gave a slight curl of her lips.

’Candy? I’ve had more than enough. These country bumpkins are so embarrassing.’

"Alright now, head home quickly. Don’t disturb the Lord Village Chief’s rest."

Old Yor waved his hand, shooing the children out of the yard. Then he said to Vili, "Lord Village Chief, I’ll take my leave now. Please get some rest. If you need anything, just send for me."

Vili nodded. "Thank you for your hard work."

After seeing Old Yor off, Vili and Vilia went inside the house, with Wally following close behind.

When Mrs. Shaven was around, Wally wasn’t allowed inside the house. Only when she was away would Vilia sneak him in.

"Where are Father and Mother?"

Vili glanced around and saw that no one was in the house.

"They went to Diamond Town to buy things for the winter."

Vilia replied.

As their family’s finances improved, Lake and Mrs. Shaven had become more and more willing to spend money—at least when it came to improving their living conditions, they were much more generous than before.

"Vili, I have a secret I have to tell you," Vilia said suddenly, glancing at Wally at her feet.

"What secret?"

Vili furrowed his brow, sizing Vilia up.

Vilia paused, first closing the door to the room before slowly leaning in toward Vili’s ear.

"This is a huge secret. When you hear it, you must not be shocked."

Vilia’s face was dead serious.
