Chapter 78: Middle Level Knight’s Squire
Chapter 78: Chapter 78: Middle Level Knight’s Squire
"You just need to teach me the last six Combined Techniques."
In the clearing, Vili added, speaking to Morion.
Morion nodded and, as Vili requested, taught him the final six moves of the Middle Level Knight Squire Fencing techniques in their entirety.
Sure enough, just as Vili had predicted, a new notification appeared on his Title Attribute Panel after he finished learning the Middle Level Knight’s Squire Fencing.
"Learned the Combined Techniques for Middle Level Knight Squire Level Fencing. Title acquired: [Middle Level Knight’s Squire]. Reward: 0.8 attribute points."
"Upon acquiring the [Middle Level Knight’s Squire] title, you will automatically learn the middle-level combat applications for all Fencing combinations. You have now become a qualified Middle Level Knight’s Squire."
[Vili Ferren—Constitution: 3.7; Intelligence: 1.5; Remaining attribute points: 0.8]
"Thank you, Captain Morion."
Now that he had achieved his goal, Vili didn’t want to waste any more time.
"Wait a moment."
Seeing that Vili was about to take his leave, Morion quickly stopped him. He had only taught him once; how could Vili possibly have learned it all? This was an order from Olay. If Olay found out that Vili’s learning was subpar, Morion would have a hard time explaining himself later.
"Perform this Fencing set from the beginning."
Morion decided to check on Vili’s progress.
Vili saw this and knew that if he couldn’t perform the set proficiently, Morion probably wouldn’t let him leave so easily.
Vili didn’t waste words and immediately drew his sword to demonstrate. Because he had obtained the Middle Level Knight’s Squire title, his mastery of this Fencing set had instantly reached perfection, and he had even grasped its combat applications. Therefore, simply performing it once for Morion’s inspection was incredibly easy.
His movements were practiced and fluid. In just ten minutes, he completed the entire set without a single mistake.
"How was that, Captain Morion?"
Vili sheathed his Cross Sword.
"Hmm..."
For a moment, Morion didn’t know what to say. It was perfect. The movements were simply too perfect. Even some Knight’s Squires who had practiced this set for years couldn’t achieve this level of proficiency.
It would have been one thing if only the other movements were fluid and skillful, but even the six Combined Techniques Vili had just learned were performed without any error.
In Morion’s opinion, it was simply too bizarre.
’Could it be that Lord Olay had already taught him these six moves before, and Vili was just a little unsure, so Lord Olay sent him to me for clarification?’
The more Morion thought about it, the more he felt this had to be the case.
"Remember to practice diligently."
Morion really didn’t know what else to say, so he could only offer a simple reminder.
Vili nodded in thanks, then turned and headed for his quarters. His mind was now completely focused on practicing the Frost Knight Breathing Technique.
’I got 0.8 attribute points all at once this time. I should put at least 0.5 into my Intelligence Value. That’s the only way to increase my practice speed.’
"Lord Vili."
Just as Vili reached the lofts where he was staying, he saw a man who looked like one of the Guards waiting for him.
"Lord Vili, a command has come from Bamos. He requests your presence at the Town Hall immediately."
the Guard said respectfully.
"The Town Hall?"
Vili’s brow furrowed slightly. "Has Bamos already taken up his duties at the Town Hall?"
The previous night, when he learned that the prelude to war had sounded, Vili had guessed that Bamos would be granted authority ahead of schedule to alleviate the administrative and military pressure on Baron Kels. If nothing unexpected happened, he himself would also be appointed to a post soon. Baron Kels’s decision to teach him the Frost Knight Breathing Technique was a very clear signal.
Vili just hadn’t expected Bamos to make his move so quickly.
"I understand."
Vili nodded at the Guard and hurried toward the Town Hall.
Town Hall.
Bamos sat at a desk with a serious expression. The desk was covered with stacks of registers containing information on the young Civil Servants and Guards.
He held a quill, making marks and drawings in the registers. He also wrote down certain names on a blank sheet of paper and drew connecting lines between them.
Bisen stood beside Bamos. He remained silent, only speaking a few words when Bamos occasionally asked him a question.
Bisen knew very well that what Bamos was doing right now would decide the future of many young people. The prelude to war had already sounded. Baron Kels had delegated a portion of Diamond Town’s authority to Bamos, and the first thing Bamos needed to do was assemble his own team and form a young management corps with himself at its core.
The core leaders for the Civil Servant and Guard divisions had long been established—Bisen and Vili, naturally. However, Bamos had not yet decided on the personnel to fill out the ranks below them.
"What do you think about placing Sandoor under Vili?"
When it came to key positions, Bamos was clearly conflicted. He had to consider not only the families behind these young men but also their actual strength and whether they could truly withstand the trials to come.
Hearing this, Bisen didn’t answer immediately. He pursed his lips before saying in a low voice, "If you’re unsure, Young Master, you could wait for Vili to arrive and hear his opinion."
Bisen was very tactful. When Bamos asked for his opinion on candidates for the Civil Servants, he might offer his own views slightly. But when it came to matters concerning the Guards and Personal Guard, he showed no preference. He didn’t want Vili to think he was overstepping his bounds, as that would offend him.
"Hmm..."
Bamos’s brow tightened, the pressure on his shoulders clearly weighing on him. "When will Vili get here?"
"He should be here soon."
Bisen estimated the time and replied.
Just as he spoke, a knock came from the door.
"Come in,"
Bamos said.
Vili walked in, dressed in a suit of Light Armor with a Cross Sword at his waist.
Vili should have been wearing the Swift Sword that Lacas had given him, but he had forgotten it in his haste to return to Diamond Town the previous night.
"Young Master Bamos."
Vili greeted Bamos, then exchanged a brief glance with Bisen.
When Bamos saw Vili arrive, he felt a sense of relief for some reason. "You’re just in time."
"Uncle Olay has already told you about the impending war. To ensure Diamond Town has a sufficient supply of fresh blood, my father has tasked me with preparing a new auxiliary power structure."
Bamos briefly explained the situation. "Bisen and I have already decided on the personnel for the first batch of Civil Servants, but I haven’t been able to decide on the candidates for the military line of the Guards. Take a look, and then tell me what you think."
With that, Bamos handed a bound stack of documents to Vili.𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ
