Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Wally’s Electric Arc

"In a few days, you should personally take a trip to Fandou Village. Bring some gifts and pay a visit to Mr. Vili’s family."

Before, they didn’t know Vili at all, so visiting out of the blue would have been abrupt. But things were different now; they could use this method to deepen their friendship.

Finlay gave a hum of agreement and accepted the task.

Two hours later, the last ray of sunlight vanished from the horizon. The dark of night blanketed the sky, and the stars began to twinkle.

Escorted by the driver and guards, Vili arrived at Fandou Village. After expressing his gratitude, the driver and guards returned to Storm Town.

"It looks like progress is quite fast..."

Before entering the village, Vili deliberately passed by the fields in front. He took a lap around and found that the area of reclaimed land had already reached the standard expected for planting beans. Some plots even showed signs of being leveled, indicating that the bean seeds had likely already been sown.

Beans and sweet potatoes looked similar in appearance, but they were two distinct species. Sweet potatoes were a crop vulnerable to frost, whereas beans were different. As long as the temperature didn’t drop below the extreme cold of minus fifteen degrees Celsius, their growth would largely remain unaffected. It was precisely for this reason that Baron Kels had agreed to import beans from outside, allowing the majority of the land left idle during the winter to be put to good use.

Tucking the glass bottle containing the Star-Spotted Snow Root into his chest pocket and cradling the Swift Sword gifted by Lacas in his arms, Vili walked toward his home.

Because it was dinner time for every household, he only saw a few villagers on the road. Upon seeing Vili, the villagers respectfully bowed to him, though everyone was surprised. They hadn’t expected Vili to rush back at night.

Vili was very satisfied with the villagers’ current condition. Although they were still thin, their spirits were visibly much better. Their vitality had improved by leaps and bounds compared to before. The first thing to reflect an improvement in material conditions was always a change in mental state.

"I’m back!" Vili called out as he stepped into the courtyard, which was more than twice the size of their old one in Xiangguo Village.

He had barely set foot inside when he saw a dark silhouette dart out from the bear den outside the house.

On all fours, Wally dashed over and pounced at Vili’s feet, rubbing vigorously against his pant legs.

"How did you get bigger again?"

Vili hadn’t expected that after only half a month away, Wally would have already grown to sixty or seventy centimeters in length—almost the size of a fully grown local dog. It was plump all over, looking completely oval-shaped.

Vili patted Wally’s head, reciprocating its affectionate greeting.

"Vili, why did you come back so suddenly?" Mrs. Shaven walked out, looking in surprise at Vili, who was holding a wooden box in his arms.

After all, Sopps hadn’t returned home even once since joining the Personal Guard Team. Yet it had been less than half a month, and Vili had actually come back on his own.

Immediately after, Vilia poked her head out, holding a plate in one hand and a spoon in the other. Her eyes lit up. "Vili, what’s that in your hand?"

Vili ignored her and went inside at Mrs. Shaven’s urging.

"Where’s Father?" Entering the house, Vili noticed Lake was nowhere to be seen. He set the wooden box down and turned to Mrs. Shaven.

As she served Vili some food, Mrs. Shaven replied, "He’s already gone back to his room to sleep. For the past half month, he and Old Yor have been worrying about the bean planting. He leaves the house before dawn, finishes work after dusk, and then comes home to eat and sleep."

Hearing this, Vili knew Lake had fully embraced the role of acting Village Chief. Fandou Village belonged to their family now, so he naturally had to take it seriously.

"Is this a sword?" Vilia was quick. The moment Vili set it down, she opened the wooden box.

The beautifully contoured and sharply edged Swift Sword drew a gasp of amazement from Vilia. The Black Gemstone on the hilt, in particular, left her staring unblinkingly. She had only ever seen her eldest brother Sopps’s Cross Sword up close before, but thinking about it now, the gap between that sword and the Foil before her was simply too vast.

"What a beautiful sword. Was this bestowed upon you by the Lord Baron?"

Mrs. Shaven also walked over to take a look, promptly slapping away Vilia’s little hand as she tried to touch it.

"No, it was a gift from Mr. Lacas of the Divar Family in Storm Town," Vili replied as he ate the mixed rice Mrs. Shaven had prepared.

Hearing this, Mrs. Shaven nodded silently and didn’t ask further.

She had never heard the name Lacas, nor did she know about the Divar Family’s businesses. But just by seeing this Swift Sword, she knew the gift-giver was wealthy. Mrs. Shaven felt a bit emotional, though she had guessed that as Vili’s status in Diamond Town continued to rise, the caliber of people and friends he interacted with would get higher and higher.

Even though he had eaten a luxurious lunch at the Divar Family’s estate, Vili still relished Mrs. Shaven’s dinner. His mindset was vastly different from when he had first transmigrated. Back then, he thought about improving his diet all day long. Now that he had experienced better things, he was actually less bothered by simple fare.

After dinner, Mrs. Shaven dragged Vilia to the kitchen to wash the dishes, while Vili went out to the courtyard to find Wally.

Watching Wally’s jubilant behavior, Vili crouched down and rubbed his palm repeatedly over its fur. The smooth, soft sensation reminded him of his cat-petting days in his past life.

"Wally, can you still discharge electricity?"

Wally naturally couldn’t understand what Vili meant, but Vili had previously subjected it to memory training for specific words. Wally could instinctively perform actions based on the words he spoke. It was just like calling a pet’s name and having it react.

Wally paused its movements, seemingly deep in thought. It had been a long time since it last heard the word "discharge."

"Discharge..." Vili tried to prompt it again.

The next moment, Wally perked up. A flash of deep blue suddenly flickered in its eyes, appearing exceptionally bright under the pitch-black night sky.

Seeing this, Vili jumped away from his spot almost instinctively. He clearly remembered that the electric glow in Wally’s eyes had never been this dazzling before.

Suddenly, a dense cluster of electric arcs surfaced all over Wally’s pure white fur. The arcs darted wildly across its back like little snakes.

The previously pitch-black corner of the courtyard was suddenly brightly illuminated.

"Stop!" Vili immediately commanded, staring at Wally in disbelief.

He wondered, "Had the little white bear’s lightning power reached this level without me realizing it? Last time, it had only been capable of numbing my body."

Hearing Vili’s command, Wally immediately stopped.

However, suddenly releasing its lightning power after suppressing it for so long made Wally feel exceptionally excited.

It kept jumping in place, its eyes fixed straight on Vili, seemingly waiting for the next command to discharge.
