I Transmigrated as a Peasant, but My System Wanna Make Me a Duke!
Chapter 56: Secretary Bisen
Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Secretary Bisen
Beads of sweat dotted Vili’s forehead, and he was panting slightly. The recent battle had taken a significant toll on his stamina.
’So this is the power of a Knight that Sopps mentioned...’
Vili’s eyes gleamed with a yearning for that kind of power.
The concept of a Knight had always been rather vague to Vili, but after truly sparring with Olay, he finally understood the weight behind the title. Even setting aside combat techniques, Olay’s pure physical strength alone far surpassed the limits of an ordinary person.
"You’re already quite proficient with the Fencing of a Basic Knight Squire Level and have even developed your own style. Therefore, I’ll start by teaching you the Fencing of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire directly."
Olay patted Vili’s shoulder in satisfaction and continued, "Compared to the Fencing of a Basic Knight Squire Level, the techniques for a Middle Level Knight’s Squire are far more difficult. Although the fundamental movements are the same, its Combined Techniques are much more complex. Relying on intuition alone won’t be enough to master them; you must also possess a strong body to execute them properly."
"From our spar just now, I can tell your physical condition already meets the requirements. However, you still need to ensure you’re getting enough nutrition every day. This is especially true for meat; you must consume it in large quantities."
"I know you were a Hunter before, so you were used to providing your own meat. Now that you’re at the Personal Guard Bureau, you won’t have to worry about where your next meal is coming from. You can get plenty of meat at the Bureau’s dining hall. I’ve already made arrangements; all your meals there will be free of charge."
Olay had already formulated a systematic training plan for Vili.
"I understand. I’ll keep up with my physical training."
Vili replied. He wasn’t the least bit worried about improving his physical condition. ’According to what Sopps told me, the requirement for a Middle Level Knight’s Squire is a physical constitution one-and-a-half times that of a normal adult. My Constitution is already at 2.6, so I’ve met the standard. Besides, I still have 1.3 unallocated attribute points. I don’t need to waste too much energy on increasing my Constitution.’
"In that case, let’s begin learning the Fencing of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire."
Olay switched into his formal teaching mode.
A hopeful look appeared in Vili’s eyes. ’Once I finish learning the Fencing of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire, I’ll be able to upgrade my Junior Knight’s Squire title again.’
However, as the lesson proceeded, Vili grew a little disappointed.
’He had thought Olay would be like Sopps and teach him all the movements at once, letting him break them down and practice on his own. But Olay didn’t do that. He broke down every single Combined Technique, meticulously covering every nuance of the movements.’
’For anyone else, this would be an excellent teaching method. It would allow them to grasp the essence of the techniques and deepen their understanding of practical combat. For Vili, however, this wasn’t good news. All he needed was to learn the complete set of movements; the Title Attribute Panel would fill in any gaps for him.’
Vili tried to suggest a change to Olay’s teaching method, but Olay refused, believing Vili should start with the details and not be in such a rush. Vili couldn’t press the issue, since he couldn’t reveal the real reason, so he had no choice but to follow Olay’s lead.
’Even so, another idea was already forming in Vili’s mind. Olay might not teach him the full set at once, but Sopps would. By now, Sopps should have mastered the Fencing of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire. If he got the chance, he could just go find Sopps directly.’
"Your form is excellent, but you’re still missing some of the finer details."
Olay coached Vili from the sidelines after giving him a demonstration.
Although Vili had no combat experience with the Fencing of a Middle Level Knight’s Squire, the practical skills granted by his Junior Knight’s Squire title helped him execute many of the more difficult Combined Techniques.
Olay’s training session with Vili lasted for nearly two hours. It only ended at dusk, when the setting sun stained the horizon red.
Vili was only wearing a light tunic, but he had his Armor on. After training for so long under the sun, he was drenched in sweat. Furthermore, the training had left him utterly exhausted, and his stomach was starting to RUMBLE loudly.
"Go to the dining hall and refuel. Remember to eat plenty of meat."
Olay reminded him again. He had his own residence in Diamond Town, so he wouldn’t be dining with Vili.
Vili wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Alright, Teacher Olay."
After they parted ways, Vili headed toward the dining hall.
Along the way, passing Personal Guards and Civil Servants kept stealing glances at him. News that Captain Olay of the Personal Guard Team had personally spent two hours training an unfamiliar young man on the practice grounds had spread like wildfire, and many had already heard about it.
Vili paid them no mind. Right now, all he wanted was to have a hearty meal at the dining hall, and then find Sopps at the Personal Guard Bureau’s dormitories later that evening.
"Sir Vili!"
Vili was just about to enter the dining hall when he suddenly heard someone call his name from behind.
He turned to see a refined-looking young Civil Servant running toward him.
"You are..."
Vili recognized the man at once. He was the Record Officer who had been by Bamos’s side when Vili was registering for the Bole Forest expedition.
"Greetings, Sir Vili. I am Young Master Bamos’s Secretary. My name is Bisen."
Bisen politely introduced himself.
Vili suddenly understood. ’No wonder Bisen was with Bamos that day. He’s Bamos’s Secretary.’
’Looking at Bisen, who appeared to be around thirty, and considering his position, Vili deduced that he must be a core member of Bamos’s future retinue of civil officials. Even now in Diamond Town, he was likely someone many merchants and other Civil Servants sought to curry favor with.’
"Hello, Sir Bisen. I’m Vili."
Even though the other man already knew who he was, Vili chose to introduce himself formally.
Seeing this, the corners of Bisen’s eyes crinkled into a smile. ’He could already tell Vili was a sensible person. Despite having won the favor of Young Master Bamos and even the Lord Baron himself, he remained humble. This was good news for him. In the future, when Bamos inherits the title of Baron, he would inevitably have frequent dealings with Vili.’
’Bisen was well aware that his status as a Civil Servant meant his future position in Diamond Town could never compare to Vili’s. Even now, Vili’s standing in Young Master Bamos’s eyes had already far surpassed his own. Therefore, maintaining a friendly relationship with Vili was an exceedingly wise move.’
"Sir Bisen," Vili said, his tone questioning. "You came looking for me because..."
