I Transmigrated as a Peasant, but My System Wanna Make Me a Duke!
Chapter 187 - 182: Count Lumbar’s Appreciation
Chapter 187: Chapter 182: Count Lumbar’s Appreciation
"So this is Count Lumbar’s manor..."
Vili was rather surprised to see the ancient-looking walls and architecture before him.
Vili had originally thought Count Lumbar’s residence would be dripping with aristocratic luxury, but it actually seemed quite rustic.
’Perhaps this is the true aristocratic style...’
Vili mused to himself.
True nobility is forged by time.
The more ancient the noble family, the stronger their ingrained sense of honor. They revere the glory and splendor of the past above all else.
The first Count of Dawei Province earned his merits fighting alongside Duke Kaqier on the battlefield to establish the Lanton Duchy.
As a reward, Duke Kaqier bestowed the fertile Dawei Province upon Count Lumbar’s ancestor.
Although his title was only that of a Count, the prosperity of his domain surpassed that of some held by a Marquis.
Therefore, Count Lumbar held the honor his ancestors had maintained for over three hundred years in the highest regard.
"Let’s go in."
Kirk dismissed the Elite Cavalry Corps behind them, and he and Vili rode into the manor.
The manor’s defenses were tight, with patrol routes that left almost no blind spots.
The weakest of the patrolling Guards were Middle Level Knight’s Squires. In White Bear Town, they would be considered elites of the Personal Guard Team.
If the manor’s patrol guards were this strong, Vili found it hard to imagine just how powerful Lumbar’s elite Personal Guards must be.
’Could they all be Knight Level Transcendents? The thought was frightening.’
"Lord Kirk."
Kirk and Vili had just stopped before a rustic-looking pavilion.
Just as they dismounted, a member of the Personal Guard approached and bowed to Kirk.
"Is the Count in?"
Kirk asked the personal guard.
The personal guard nodded. "The Count is inside, but he is currently receiving other guests."
"Other guests?"
Kirk frowned. "Who is it?"
"It’s Lord Fidel of the Holy Light Knight Order."
The personal guard answered Kirk dutifully.
’The Holy Light Knight Order?’
Standing to the side, Vili heard this name for the first time.
’It seems to be a Knight organization. For this Fidel person to be personally received by Count Lumbar, his status must be extraordinary.’
"Lord Fidel?"
Surprise showed in Kirk’s eyes. "Why would Lord Fidel come to the manor?"
"I wouldn’t know about that."
The personal guard gave a slight bow and returned to his post.
’Even Kirk has to address him as Lord...’
Vili seized upon this detail.
Kirk shook his head and turned to Vili. "It seems we’ve come at an inconvenient time; the Count is receiving another distinguished guest. That being the case, we can wait in His Lordship’s reception hall."
Kirk was very familiar with the Count’s Manor.
Although he held the title of Viscount, with a fief in a prosperous region not far from Golden Flower City, Kirk rarely returned to it.
His talent was outstanding compared to his peers. At only thirty years old, he was already a Middle Grand Knight and deeply valued by Count Lumbar. 𝖋𝙧ⅇ
He spent most of his time in Golden Flower City, where his family also resided. To him, his own domain was merely a source of tax revenue, nowhere near as important as White Bear Town was to Vili.
Kirk led Vili to the reception hall.
There were several reception halls in Count Lumbar’s manor, and Kirk led Vili to the nearest one.
"These all look like precious artifacts..."
Vili remarked, looking at the items displayed on the shelves at the side of the reception hall.
Whether it was the vases or the sculptures, they looked ancient and possessed a certain indescribable charm.
"These are treasures the Gavich family has collected over three hundred years."
Kirk told Vili.
The Gavich Family was Count Lumbar’s family name.
"Lord Kirk..."
Vili turned to Kirk and asked after a moment’s thought, "You just mentioned the Holy Light Knight Order... what is it?"
Kirk didn’t seem surprised at all, as if he had expected Vili’s question. "The Holy Light Knight Order? It’s a powerful Extraordinary Organization that strictly adheres to the Knightly Spirit. Its members are almost exclusively Knights who cultivate the Light Knight Breathing Technique, making it a rather pure Knight organization."
"The tenets of their organization are somewhat similar to your Hanged Man’s code of Justice."
Kirk looked at Vili with a hint of admiration in his eyes.
A young man with a Heart of Justice was indeed a reassuring person to deal with.
As long as a Hanged Man’s personal code of Justice wasn’t too extreme, they could generally win the approval of others.
’An Extraordinary Knight Order of the light element, one that adheres to the Knightly Spirit?’
Vili picked out a few key points from what Kirk said.
It adhered to the Knightly Spirit with Justice as its core tenet. This meant the Holy Light Knight Order was a righteous organization.
At least on the surface, they held themselves to qualities like humility, sacrifice, honesty, and justice, making them seem highly idealistic.
Vili found this somewhat surprising. In a world where the system of noble Lords was supreme, it was unexpected that such an organization could even exist.
Besides that, another point caught Vili’s attention.
The members of this Holy Light Knight Order were all Knights.
Knights were Extraordinary Level beings. To put it in perspective, most Baron’s Domains only had one or two individuals of the Knight Level.
The fact that every single member of the Holy Light Knight Order was a Knight was, frankly, terrifying.
"Does the Holy Light Knight Order have many members?"
