Chapter 181: Chapter 179: White Bear Town’s Terrifying Foundation
At Colson’s farm.
It was now close to evening, and Colson had just finished his lunch.
Since he started following Vili, Colson’s meals had improved greatly. Almost every other day, a few chickens or ducks would disappear from the farm.
Colson let out a satisfied burp and was about to take a stroll by the sea when he suddenly heard a cry from above.
A circling Sea Eagle swooped down from overhead, flapped its wings once, and then landed on Colson’s shoulder.
"Hm?"
Colson’s brow furrowed. He gently touched the Sea Eagle’s head, and a faint green fluorescent light emanated from his fingertip.
Immediately after, an image of advancing cavalry flashed rapidly before his eyes.
"Cavalry?"
Colson suddenly remembered what Vili had said yesterday about the Wata Duchy’s cavalry raiding the border.
His heart tightened as he realized what was happening.
Although he was a bit of a chatterbox, Colson was no fool.
The unfamiliar attire of this cavalry troop and their aggressive posture set off alarm bells in Colson’s mind.
He was about to head out toward the Baron’s Manor to report this to Vili when he saw a seagull flying toward him from the distance.
’News from the coast, too?’
Colson’s suspicion grew.
His fingertip, still glowing with a faint green light, once again tapped the seagull’s head. Another series of accelerated images flashed rapidly before his eyes.
"Two transport ships, five warships..."
Colson had no more time to hesitate. He immediately broke into a run.
The enemy was attacking. He had to get this news to Vili as quickly as possible.
"Lord Vili!"
Colson burst directly into Vili’s study.
"Colson?"
Vili usually ate later in the day. At other times, if there was nothing pressing, he would generally stay in his study reading or reviewing documents.
Seeing Colson’s frantic expression, Vili’s heart dropped.
"Enemy attack!"
It was the first time Colson had been so concise.
"Give me the details!"
Vili’s gaze sharpened.
This time, Colson’s report was concise and fluent. In less than a minute, he had given Vili a detailed account of the approaching cavalry from the northeast and the ships nearing the coast.
"Cavalry... warships..."
A flicker of confusion appeared in Vili’s eyes, but he soon put the pieces together.
"Were there any flags on the warships?" Vili asked urgently.
Colson’s brow tightened. He thought back carefully, then quickly said, "Yes! A wolf’s head on a green tree... It’s the flag of the Sosen Duchy!"
Colson realized it instantly as well.
"I understand now!"
A look of realization dawned on Vili’s face.
There had been rumors of an alliance between the Sosen Duchy and the Wata Duchy, but there had never been any concrete action or proof.
White Bear Town was far from the center of the battlefield, and Vili rarely paid attention to the war.
But now, connecting the cavalry heading for White Bear Town with the warships on the coast, Vili immediately understood the reason behind it.
The target of this cavalry unit wasn’t the border at all—it was White Bear Town!
"Guards!"
Vili quickly summoned a Personal Guard. "Send a messenger to tell Dane to prepare the coastal defenses! Then, dispatch Benduin from the Personal Guard Bureau to the northeastern patrol line of White Bear Town!"
The Personal Guard acknowledged the order and left quickly.
"Colson, you go to the coastal defense line as well! Join Dane in fighting back the enemies from the Sosen Duchy!"
Vili gave the order instantly.
"Yes, sir!"
Colson’s eyes lit up.
’I’ve always been a nobody who just raised chickens and ducks, but now I’m finally going to a real battlefield!’
"Do a good job."
Vili smiled, offering a word of encouragement.
Colson nodded firmly, then turned and left quickly.
For a Silent, the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky were all his assistants.
’Assault Kuangjin City, annihilate White Bear Town, and then return to the Wata Duchy... What a fine plan!’
Vili sneered.
Ten Knight Level combatants could accomplish all of this with ease, if there were no surprises.
But White Bear Town was the surprise!
"Wally!"
Vili strode downstairs and shouted to Wally, who was enjoying the last rays of the evening sun on the lawn, "It’s time for battle!"
Against ten Extraordinary individuals, the defense of ordinary Guards was meaningless. Only White Bear Town’s own Extraordinary Combat Power was suited to intercept them.
Wally shuddered, then shot up from the grass and bounded over, a ghostly blue light flashing in its eyes.
It ran up to Vili and grinned, revealing sharp, chilling teeth.
Vili didn’t linger. He hurried toward the man-made lake behind the manor.
"Selena!"
Vili shouted at the lake’s surface.
Soon, the water rippled, and Selena’s drenched head emerged.
"Baron Vili."
Selena looked at Vili cautiously.
"I’m giving you a chance to prove your loyalty!"
Vili’s eyes narrowed. "Go with Colson and fight back the enemies attacking White Bear Town!"
"Enemies?"
A trace of surprise appeared in Selena’s eyes.
’Someone actually dares to provoke the authority of the Lord of White Bear Town? He’s a Devil.’
"If you perform exceptionally well this time, I will lend you Sabuweiler’s Tears for ten days."
Vili promised a reward.
"It is my honor to serve the Lord Baron."
Selena’s eyes lit up.
Without another word, Vili shot a ray of golden light into Selena’s body.
Vili had temporarily modified the Seal of Justice. Selena could now unleash her full power.
But if she chose to desert, the Seal of Justice would completely sever her source of malicious power.
As her full power returned, Selena’s entire body felt light and refreshed.
