Chapter 177: Chapter 177: The Sea Elf’s Fated Guidance

To the people of the land, the deep sea was fraught with mystery. To the races of the seabed, the land was an equally enigmatic and unfathomable world.

The land had all sorts of Extraordinary Professions and powerful individuals with a wide range of abilities. According to the elders who had bravely ventured into the surface world and returned alive, the environment on land was also fraught with peril for the Sea Race.

Thus, the prospect of rescuing Kangbi’Er and Selena filled the middle-aged Fishfolk with a sense of dread.

"This matter..."

A solemn expression settled upon Shariel’s wrinkled face, and a look of grim resolve flashed in her eyes. "Abandon the rescue."

"Abandon the rescue?!"

The middle-aged Fishfolk and a young female Mermaid exclaimed in disbelief.

Setting aside the matter of Kangbi’Er’s life, if Selena isn’t rescued, how will we withstand Lord Chadur’s wrath?

Before a Silver Level expert like Lord Chadur, the Kala Coral Tribe was completely at his mercy.

"Do we have a better choice?"

Anger and sorrow flashed across Shariel’s aged face. "Selena and Kangbi’Er are both at the Peak of Bronze Level, considered among the mightiest of the Kala Coral Tribe. And yet? They’re still imprisoned on the surface! You should know as well as I do that in a fight between Extraordinary individuals, capturing someone is a feat of an entirely different magnitude than simply killing them. Our enemies on land are far more terrifying than we ever imagined!"

"Besides, have you forgotten the ancestral creed of the Kala Coral Tribe?"

Shariel’s cold gaze swept over the two of them. "Never, ever, *ever* go near the surface world!"

"But..."

The middle-aged Fishfolk and the young female Mermaid exchanged a glance, each seeing the conflict in the other’s eyes.

It was indeed an ancestral creed.

But after so much time spent far from the surface world, they had all but forgotten this decree.

"Selena and Kangbi’Er both made a foolish mistake!" Shariel said sharply. "But we cannot afford to make another. If we suffer any more losses, the Kala Coral Tribe will vanish from the deep sea forever."

The faces of the middle-aged Fishfolk and the young female Mermaid fell.

Whether on land or in the sea, the Law of the jungle—the strong devour the weak—always prevailed. Weakness was the original sin.

"Then what do we tell Lord Chadur?"

Deep worry was etched on the middle-aged Fishfolk’s face.

Losing Chadur’s bride would surely bring his terrifying wrath down upon them.

"The only way..."

A look of heartache and reluctance filled Shariel’s eyes. "Is to marry Sarice to him."

"Sarice!?" Both the middle-aged Fishfolk and the young female Mermaid looked at her in opposition. "Elder, you can’t! Sarice is the Kala Coral Tribe’s last hope of reclaiming our former glory!"

Sarice was the Sea Elf in the Kala Coral Tribe with the purest royal bloodline.

At just fifteen years old, she was already a hair’s breadth away from reaching Bronze Level.

By the standards of the Sea Elves, she was a peerless genius, fully capable of one day reaching Silver Level.

"Do you think I don’t know that?" Shariel said, her voice filled with fury. "She is my granddaughter! This pains me more than either of you! But we have no other choice. We cannot get Selena back, and we cannot withstand Lord Chadur’s wrath! Do you want to stand by and watch the Kala Coral Tribe be destroyed?!"

The middle-aged Fishfolk and the young female Mermaid fell silent.

Sarice’s royal bloodline was certain to satisfy Lord Chadur. But once she was given to him, the Kala Coral Tribe would lose all hope for the future.

"The survival of the tribe will always be more important than the fate of an individual."

Shariel suppressed her emotions, her eyes becoming as still as a tranquil sea.

"Go and make the preparations. And watch Sarice closely. Do not let her learn of this ahead of time... otherwise, knowing her personality, she might do something just as impulsive as Selena did."

Shariel’s voice was low and heavy.

The middle-aged Fishfolk and the young female Mermaid could both see the sorrow in each other’s eyes.

They bowed respectfully to Shariel, then left the room.

"I’m so sorry... Sarice..."

Shariel muttered to herself. "If the ancestors’ guidance hadn’t changed, I would never have let you suffer such a humiliation..."

"The one who will change the destiny of our Kala Coral Tribe isn’t you... but... him..."

A blurry image from her dream, a vision from her ancestors, surfaced in Shariel’s mind.

It was a fragmented and indistinct scene...

In the scene was the imposing silhouette of a figure holding a Cross Sword...

He was a Human.

...

「White Bear Town. Vili’s study.」

"Colson, are you sure there are no issues or abnormalities with your Ability?"

Vili looked at Colson with a puzzled expression.

Just half a month ago, another great event had taken place in White Bear Town.

Silent Colson had successfully advanced to become a One-Engraving Silence!

This meant that White Bear Town now possessed four Extraordinary Level combatants!

For the incredibly talkative Colson to advance to a One-Engraving Silence did indeed sound rather absurd.

Other Silents maintained long periods of silence to prevent excessive words from cluttering their minds. But Colson talked all day long. Aside from Wally, almost no one could stand his incessant chatter.

And yet this was the person, at just twelve years old, who had advanced to become a One-Engraving Silence.

If the other Silents who practiced strict vows of silence found out, they would probably break their vows just to start swearing.
