Chapter 165: Sabuweiler’s Tears
Chapter 165: Chapter 165: Sabuweiler’s Tears
Vili didn’t dwell on it further and put the pendant away.
This was a crucial aid for his promotion to Senior Knight.
Whenever the pendant was near him, Vili could feel the Fighting Spirit in his body gradually begin to interact with the free-floating Natural Energy in the world. After a long period of deliberate guidance, he would be able to achieve a complete resonance between his internal Fighting Spirit and the Power of Nature.
Then, Vili could draw upon the Power of Ice and advance to Senior Knight.
’Even a derivative like the Power of Ice receives such a boost. For a Water Attribute Cultivator, the enhancement would likely be even greater.’
Vili grew more and more curious about the pendant’s origin.
...
The voyage at sea lasted for about half a month.
Since they had been heavily damaged by the Gray Whale mid-journey, Yoblin chose to turn back instead of sailing further out.
Although the Conch Fishing Team suffered losses on this voyage, their haul was equally enormous.
According to Yoblin, this was the most bountiful catch in his entire deep-sea fishing career.
He attributed the bountiful harvest to Vili’s brilliant leadership, offering some rather clumsy flattery.
It was mid-July, and the sun blazed fiercely.
The Conch Fishing Team finally returned to White Bear Town.
Vili had just returned to the manor when Vilia and Wally immediately swarmed him.
Out of safety concerns, Vilia had never been allowed to go to sea, so she was incredibly curious about Vili’s life during his half-month voyage.
As for Wally, it was also dead set on seeing the vast sea. Vili had considered taking it with him when he set out. However, out of consideration that White Bear Town must always have an Advanced Combat Power present, he had left it behind. This made Wally quite resentful.
Accompanied by Vilia and Wally, Vili ate a sumptuous lunch.
Although he could always eat fresh seafood at sea, the taste started to get old after a while.
After finishing lunch, Vili went straight to the manor’s artificial lake to find Selena, who was under house arrest there.
"I’m here."
Vili dismissed the surrounding Guards, crouched by the water’s edge, and touched his fingertip to the surface. A stream of the Power of Justice flowed into the water.
Fish swam in the artificial lake, sending ripples across the surface.
Suddenly, the water in the center of the lake stirred, and a drenched young woman’s head emerged. Her bewitchingly alluring face was turned towards Vili.
Selena swished her fishtail in the water and quickly swam over to Vili.
"Long time no see, Lord Baron."
Selena spat out a mouthful of lake water. Her face glistened as she looked at Vili with a mix of caution and curiosity.
She felt a comforting sensation emanating from him.
She wanted to ask him about it directly, but she had a lingering fear of Vili and remained subdued.
"Take a look at this..."
Vili was now speaking the language of the Sea Elves.
This was all thanks to Colson. The brilliant natural translator had spent just two weeks compiling *A Guide to Common Conversational Terms and Phrases in the Wuya and Sea Elf Languages*. Vili, with his high Intelligence Value, had spent a month on and off mastering most of it.
So he no longer needed Colson to translate his conversations with Selena.
"This is..."
When Vili took out the black, gogyou-shaped pendant, Selena’s eyes first showed confusion. Then, a look of realization dawned, quickly followed by shock.
Vili caught the change in her expression.
’It seems Selena really does know the origin of this black pendant.’
"You seem to know its origin."
Vili stared into Selena’s eyes.
"I..."
Selena hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
She knew very well that the Hanged Man’s Power of Justice could see through any of her lies.
"Lord Baron, could you first tell me the story of how you obtained it?"
Selena asked in a low voice.
Vili nodded. The story was no secret, so there was no harm in telling it.
So, Vili explained the entire process to Selena: from discovering the Gray Whale and killing it to retrieve the black pendant, to dispelling the Malice Power that had been on it.
’Dispelled Silver Level Malice Power...’
A look of deep fear appeared on Selena’s bewitching face as she listened to Vili’s explanation.
’Silver Level... that’s equivalent to a Human Great Knight Level of strength. In her home tribe, the Kala Coral Tribe, there hasn’t been a Silver Level Sea Elf in over a hundred years.’
"Can I see it?"
Selena asked Vili somewhat apprehensively.
"Of course."
Vili handed the pendant to Selena.
’Selena’s Malice Power is suppressed by me. She possesses no Extraordinary Power whatsoever right now.’
Selena cupped the black pendant in both hands. She then brought her clasped hands to her forehead, feeling the dense, surging Water Elemental Power within.
"This is... Sabuweiler’s Tears..."
A look of reverence, originating from the very depths of her soul, flashed in Selena’s eyes.
"Sabuweiler’s Tears?"
Surprise flickered in Vili’s eyes as well.
He had spoken with Selena before, so he knew that Sabuweiler was, according to legend, the very first Sea Elf born of the ocean.
He was the common ancestor of all Blue-striped and Purple-striped Sea Elves.
Legend had it that he was formed from the heart’s blood of a mysterious oceanic Extraordinary Creature after its death. He wielded immense power and was once the overlord of the deep sea.
"According to the legends of my tribe, when our ancestor Sabuweiler died, he shed a single black tear."
"That tear transformed into a black crystal. When it landed on the surface of a reef, it shattered into nine hundred and seven Crystal Stones. Each one of those nine hundred and seven stones contained our ancestor Sabuweiler’s understanding of the ocean, and within them was an endless, vibrant Water Elemental Power..."
Here, Selena trailed off.
"Are you saying this black pendant was formed from that tear of Sabuweiler’s?"
Vili was quite surprised by this revelation.
"Yes, I am certain."
Selena nodded emphatically, her eyes filled with conviction. "I can sense my ancestor’s aura from this Tear Pendant. I have royal blood. My senses can’t be mistaken."
"That far-fetched?"
Vili was only half-convinced.
Under Selena’s reluctant gaze, Vili took the black pendant from her hands.
’Regardless of this black pendant’s true origin, the fact remains that it accelerates my Fighting Spirit cultivation. That much is undeniable.’
Therefore, Vili decided to keep it with him at all times.
"Oh, right..."
Vili suddenly remembered something else.
’Now that I’ve advanced to a Two-Engraving Hanged Man, I can fully use the Seal of Justice ability.’
