Chapter 151: The Unconscious Sea Elf Maiden
Chapter 151: Chapter 151: The Unconscious Sea Elf Maiden
’Senior Hunter, huh...’
Surprise flickered in his eyes before Vili broke into a faint smile.
One could say that Vili’s entire rise to power was built upon the Junior Hunter title.
It was the abilities granted by his Junior Hunter title that had enabled him to help Baron Kels capture the Snow Pattern Deer. This earned him the Baron’s favor, allowing him to advance step by step to where he was today.
That’s why Vili felt a special attachment to the Hunter title.
But this was no time to reminisce. The malicious Extraordinary Power of the Sea Elf Maiden in his arms had already been suppressed by his own Power of Justice. Combined with the effects of Wally’s earlier Hexagram Thunder Shock, she had fallen unconscious.
Vili took off his long coat, wrapped it around the Sea Elf Maiden’s lower body, and slung her over his shoulder.
"Let’s go, Wally. We’re heading back!"
For now, Vili didn’t want word of the Sea Elf Maiden’s capture to spread.
Some of the Guards already knew about the murders committed by the visitor from the deep, but Vili still wanted to keep information related to the Extraordinary from reaching too many people.
Just like back in Diamond Town, very few commoners knew of the existence of Extraordinary Power.
Wally let out a soft growl. His fierce, violent form began to shrink, and he reverted to his initial state as a chubby ball.
Under the cover of darkness, Vili and Wally quickly returned to the Baron’s Manor.
「By the sea.」
"What was that brilliant blue light just now? And I think I heard a beast roaring, too."
A few Guards had rushed over after the battle, but the surface of the sea was now empty.
The fight had been complex, but the actual exchange of blows was brief.
The Guards, several hundred meters away, had only seen an azure flash on the water’s surface. By the time they arrived, it was too late.
"Looked like lightning."
One of the Guards spoke up, then hesitated before adding, "The Lord Baron has been coming here often at night these past few days. He was probably here just now."
"The Lord Baron?"
The others fell silent upon hearing this.
It was best to keep quiet when the Lord Baron was involved.
"Let’s report this to Lord Dane... As for the rest of us, it’s best we forget this ever happened."
Some of them had heard of Extraordinary Power. It seemed the high-ranking nobles preferred not to spread knowledge of such things to the masses.
"Right."
The Guards didn’t dwell on it and slowly dispersed.
Only a few wisps of purplish-red blood remained on the water, quickly scattering with the motion of the waves.
「Near the Baron’s Manor.」
Not wanting to be seen, Vili and Wally took advantage of a gap during the changing of the Guards to scale the wall and enter the manor. He felt a bit like a thief.
Once inside, Vili and Wally used a back stairway to head upstairs, doing their best to avoid the guards and servants.
Only a few people noticed that Baron Vili seemed to have returned in the middle of the night, carrying a young woman on his shoulder.
Her long hair obscured most of her body, so they couldn’t see clearly.
But even the Guards and servants who noticed didn’t dare discuss it privately. If word reached the Lord Baron’s ears, it could spell disaster.
’First, I need to get her into the bathroom.’
Vili hadn’t known much about the habits of the Purple-striped Sea Elf before. However, the knowledge of hunted species granted by his new Senior Hunter title included a detailed description.
While a Sea Elf wouldn’t die immediately upon leaving the water, a younger or less powerful one would suffer from ulcerating skin and a draining life force if kept out for too long.
After going through so much trouble to capture this deep-sea Extraordinary Creature, Vili had no intention of letting her simply die.
This Purple-striped Sea Elf was by no means weak, but according to the knowledge in his memory, she was very young—around twenty to thirty years old. For a Sea Elf, with an average lifespan of over one hundred and fifty years, she had barely entered her maidenhood.
「In the bathroom.」
Vili filled the clean, spacious bathtub with water.
’And she’s taking up my personal bathtub...’
Vili grumbled.
Back in Xiangguo Village, a bath meant dumping a bucket of cold water over his head. Even when his family’s circumstances improved, he had only used a rough wooden tub. It wasn’t until he became a Baron that Vili had managed to make his bathing experience similar to that of his past life.
Vili tossed the unconscious Sea Elf Maiden into the tub. Purplish-red blood and dislodged scales immediately floated to the surface.
"I never thought you’d be such a vicious bear..."
Vili teased Wally, who was beside him.
Wally looked up at Vili and gave him a simple, good-natured grin.
Then, he propped his entire body up on the edge of the tub, staring with curiosity at the Sea Elf Maiden inside.
Wally hadn’t paid her much mind during the battle, but now that it was over, he noticed how different this Sea Elf Maiden was.
A human body and a fish’s tail. He found it very strange.
Wally snuck a glance at Vili and saw that he wasn’t paying attention. He instantly shot out a paw and swiped at the Sea Elf Maiden’s fish tail.
Then he opened his mouth and licked his paw.
’It doesn’t smell fishy. Not like the other fish I’ve eaten.’
"Wally!"
Vili finally noticed Wally’s little stunt. He grabbed the creature’s ear and said sternly, "We went to a lot of trouble to get this Extraordinary Marine Creature. You are not to eat her, understand?"
Vili felt he had to be perfectly clear. Given Wally’s curiosity about novel things, the unconscious Sea Elf Maiden might actually end up as his next meal.
He had seen Wally’s Violent Bear form with his own eyes. One look was enough to know he was a terrifying predator.
If Wally swallowed the unconscious Sea Elf Maiden while he wasn’t looking, all their effort would have been for nothing.
Wally nodded rapidly, showing he understood.
But the way his eyes unintentionally darted toward the Sea Elf Maiden still left Vili feeling uneasy.
Vili thought that in this regard, Wally was quite similar to Vilia. Both of them had an insatiable curiosity about new kinds of food.
’Her injuries...’
Vili brushed aside the scales and purplish-red blood on the water’s surface, revealing the Sea Elf Maiden’s wounded body.
Patches of skin on her upper body had been torn away, clearly revealing the raw flesh beneath. The scales on her lower half were also in tatters.
Just as Vili was wondering how to treat her injuries, he noticed something strange.
The Sea Elf Maiden’s wounds seemed to be slowly healing. The process was slow, but upon close inspection, it was still visible to the naked eye.
’Such an incredible self-healing ability?’
A look of astonishment appeared in Vili’s eyes.
He was suddenly reminded of another piece of lore about Sea Elves.
