Chapter 143: Chapter 143: A Major Breakthrough in the Talkative Silent’s Ability

Although Vili didn’t fully understand what converting the Power of Life entailed, the ability to accelerate the growth of poultry sounded terrifying.

The growth of poultry is cyclical. If that cycle could be shortened, it would mean more batches could be raised.

This would fundamentally increase the rate of development for the livestock industry.

As the Lord of White Bear Town, Vili was well aware of how crucial animal husbandry was to the lives of his people. So, the moment Colson spoke, he had Vili’s undivided attention.

"How did you do it?"

Vili asked quickly.

Colson gathered his thoughts. "This is an ability I just discovered today... I can take the Life Force from plants and, using my ability, infuse it into poultry. I can also transfer the Life Force from one bird to another. However, the second method is much more difficult. Since the birds are self-aware, they strongly resist my Power of Life conversion ability. I can’t handle that problem very well yet."

Vili roughly understood. By that logic, Colson’s newly awakened ability was terrifying.

If Colson’s ability improved in the future, he could theoretically even transfer the Life Force of large livestock, or even humans.

It could be used to both kill and sustain life. The very thought of such a power was mind-boggling.

"But this Life Force you mentioned, what exactly is it?"

Vili only had a vague understanding of the concept of Life Force.

"Well..."

A troubled look appeared on Colson’s face. "If I had to explain it... Hmmm... I can’t."

Vili gave a helpless nod.

"Come on, take me to see your ability for myself."

Vili stood up at once. He wanted to witness Colson’s terrifying new ability with his own eyes.

Colson led Vili to a recently constructed farm.

The farm primarily raised chickens and ducks. The flock wasn’t large, only about three to five hundred birds, as its main purpose was to allow Colson to experiment and further explore his ability.

After all, unlike Vili, Colson didn’t have a Title Attribute Panel to instill knowledge. He could only understand the abilities of a Silent by constantly exploring them himself.

"Lord Baron."

Inside the farm were two or three women who looked like farmhands. They worked on the farm as well, their main duties being to assist Colson, feed the chickens and ducks, or do some cleaning.

Vili gave a slight nod in acknowledgment.

"Lord Baron, come over here."

Colson casually grabbed a chick and led Vili over to a clump of grass.

Spring was in full bloom, and some of the plants that had sprouted early were already growing strong.

"I’m going to start using my ability now."

Colson had Vili crouch down with him.

Vili nodded, his eyes fixed on the clump of grass and the chick.

Colson closed his eyes and began to manipulate the Power of Nature.

Beside him, Vili could clearly sense an unfamiliar wave of energy.

This energy was extremely gentle, with an embracing quality to it, completely distinct from Knight’s Power and the Power of Justice.

"This..."

As Vili carefully sensed the energy, he suddenly noticed that the vibrant green clump of grass before his eyes was beginning to wither.

Then, the patch of grass, which should have been growing even more lushly, slowly began to turn yellow, as if autumn and winter had arrived in an instant and stripped away all its Life Force.

At the same time, Vili also noticed the chick Colson had placed on the ground. Stiff feathers began to sprout from under its wings, replacing the down and spreading rapidly across the entire wing at a speed visible to the naked eye.

This transformation didn’t last long, however, because the clump of weeds had completely dried out. A gust of spring wind blew it away into dust, leaving nothing behind.

"That’s basically how it works."

Colson opened his eyes and said to Vili.

Vili’s eyes narrowed. He sized up Colson, then asked, "Don’t you get tired performing that kind of Power of Life conversion?"

Extraordinary Energy isn’t instantly replenished after being used. It takes time to recover.

"I don’t get too tired, unless I were to force-hatch fifty eggs at once, or age two chicks into adult roosters or hens. That would wear me out, and I’d probably need a full night’s rest to recover."

Colson explained in detail.

"However, to achieve that, I’d need more plants as an energy source."

Colson added, "Would you like me to demonstrate?"

Vili raised an eyebrow at his words.

He imagined a chick rapidly transforming into a full-grown rooster or hen right before his eyes.

The thought was bizarre.

"That won’t be necessary for now... Wait."

Vili said, "I have another question. Was the Life Force from that one clump of weeds really enough to support the growth of this chick’s stiff feathers?"

Vili was perplexed. The Life Force from that one clump of grass shouldn’t have been able to provide that much nourishment and energy.

"Hmm..." Colson smacked his lips. "When I extract the Life Force from the grass, I also absorb some of the other free-floating Power of Nature from the air, which is what allows the chick to grow feathers. Plus, the chick doesn’t need to digest this energy, so the process is very efficient."

After hearing this, Vili nodded thoughtfully.

"Oh, right," Vili suddenly thought of something else. "Can you use the Power of Life to promote plant growth?"

Vili looked at Colson with an eager gaze. ’Acquiring the seeds of rare, hard-to-grow plants and accelerating their growth... that seems like another major path to wealth!’

"Of course."

Colson nodded. "But right now, I can only accelerate the growth of common crops. I can’t do it for a precious herb like the Star-Spotted Snow Root yet."

Colson had lived in Fandou Village, so of course he knew of the Star-Spotted Snow Root.

Vili grunted in slight disappointment.

He wasn’t too disappointed, though. After all, Colson was only just beginning to walk the path of a Silent. There was still plenty of room for him to improve in the future.

If he had the chance in the future, Vili even planned on finding another Silent to mentor Colson.

After all, with guidance, one could avoid many wrong turns.

"You’ve done well."

Vili encouraged, "Improve your ability as quickly as you can, and contribute your strength to the development of White Bear Town."

Vili was now certain that as Colson continued to grow, he would become a strategic asset for White Bear Town.

"I will, Lord Baron!"

Colson, with his youthful mindset, felt his spirits soar at Vili’s words.

Vili patted Colson’s shoulder, offered a few more words of instruction, and left the farm.

As for Colson, he went right back to work, grabbing a few roosters to continue studying his ability.
