Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Middle Knight

Nighttime.

Inside his residence in Blue Whale Town, Vili was diligently practicing the middle section of the Frost Knight Breathing Technique.

It had been over two months since Vili had advanced to Junior Knight. He could now wield the Fighting Spirit within his body with ease. He was just one step away from achieving External Fighting Spirit and advancing to Middle Knight.

For others, the process of advancing from Junior Knight to Middle Knight was inevitably a long one. It required constant honing and practice to master the control of one’s Fighting Spirit. Only after reaching that level of skill and continually optimizing it could one achieve Fighting Spirit Detachment.

But Vili was different. The moment he advanced to Junior Knight, the Title Attribute Panel had instantly boosted him to the peak of the Junior Knight stage. His Fighting Spirit was full, and he could wield it at will, putting him a huge step ahead of everyone else from the very beginning.

Furthermore, Vili had allocated all 3 attribute points granted by the Junior Knight title to his Intelligence.

The terrifying comprehension gained from stacking his points this way allowed Vili to take many shortcuts on his path to becoming a Middle Knight.

’Attribute Panel.’

Vili stood in the courtyard, and the thought crossed his mind.

[Vili Ferren—Constitution: 4; Intelligence: 7.5; Attribute Points: 0]

The Title Attribute Panel appeared before Vili’s eyes.

Before his last allocation, Vili’s Intelligence Value was 4.3. After adding the 3 remaining attribute points to Intelligence, it became 7.3.

During this period, Vili had arrived in Blue Whale Town.

During his first trip out to sea from Blue Whale Town, Vili had managed to acquire the [Junior Sailor] title, which came with another 0.2 attribute points. He had simply added them all to his Intelligence Value, bringing it to 7.5.

In fact, when it came to the Junior Sailor title, Vili valued the Ability it granted him far more than the 0.2 attribute points.

Vili had been a complete landlubber in both his previous life and this one, but after the Junior Sailor title granted him its Ability, he had become an expert swimmer. Combined with his current Constitution, Vili could now easily dive and swim long distances for extended periods.

This could be considered Vili’s only substantial gain since arriving in Blue Whale Town.

’My Fighting Spirit’s growth has reached a new critical point. I have a feeling that tonight might be the night I make the leap to Middle Knight.’

Vili glanced at his attributes and calculated inwardly.

He dismissed the Title Attribute Panel and began practicing the middle section of the Frost Knight Breathing Technique.

The breathing patterns and combination of movements for this stage were much more difficult than the first, but thanks to the boost from his Intelligence Value, Vili didn’t find it particularly strenuous.

As Vili continued his practice, the fluctuations of Fighting Spirit within his body grew stronger and stronger, seemingly on the verge of bursting out at any moment.

Vili’s expression was grave. He knew very well that all he needed now was a single, decisive breakthrough.

Once he crossed this threshold, his power would take another leap forward.

Time passed, second by second, and Vili’s movements grew increasingly complex.

Suddenly, Vili felt the Fighting Spirit inside him tremble violently.

’This is...’

A hint of joyful surprise flashed in Vili’s eyes.

Before he could fully perceive the change in his Fighting Spirit, the Title Attribute Panel interface popped up before his eyes again.

"Fighting Spirit has undergone further sublimation. Title acquired—[Middle Knight]. Reward: 5 attribute points."

"Upon acquiring the [Middle Knight] title, the quality and quantity of your Fighting Spirit will take another leap forward. You will also gain the ability of External Fighting Spirit, becoming the most powerful Middle Knight of your rank. Additionally, you will master all the usage and combat techniques for Middle Level Fighting Spirit."

[Vili Ferren—Constitution: 4; Intelligence: 7.5; Attribute Points: 5]

’Middle Knight!!’

Vili’s eyes burned with fervor.

Without hesitation, he formed a knife-hand with his right hand and swung it through the air.

A transparent blade of Fighting Spirit, about one and a half meters long, shot out following his motion, flying more than ten meters away!

If the courtyard of the residence Baron Enton had arranged for him hadn’t been so spacious, that casual strike would have sliced the wall to pieces.

’The power of this External Fighting Spirit...’

Vili’s face was filled with shock after seeing his own casual strike.

A length of about one and a half meters and a range of over ten meters—even when Olay swung his Fighting Spirit with his bare hands, he could only achieve about half of that.

If he used a weapon like a Cross Sword or a Knight’s Lance, he could even double the power of his Fighting Spirit!

A blade of Fighting Spirit over three meters long with a range of over twenty meters—not even the Genius Knight, Jarvis, could do that.

’The Title Attribute Panel is truly something else!’

Vili could clearly feel that a huge gap had already formed between him and the other Knights he knew.

The Middle Knights he knew—including Baron Kels, Olay, Jarvis, and Baron Enton—had now been surpassed by him. It was highly likely they would never be able to catch up.

’And this time’s reward... 5 attribute points.’

Vili took a deep breath, his eyes burning with a fervent gaze.

’These 5 attribute points will play a huge role in my advancement to Senior Knight.’

Vili knew very well that the process of advancing from Middle Knight to Senior Knight was far, far more difficult than advancing from Junior Knight to Middle Knight.

This stage was no longer about a quantitative change leading to a qualitative one. It was a leap from one qualitative state to another—a jump between tiers.

The most crucial part of advancing to Senior Knight was for the body to commune with the outside world, allowing it to be blessed by the properties of the Knight’s Breathing Technique.

This process was extremely difficult, and nearly all the Middle Knights Vili knew were stuck at this bottleneck.

Take Baron Kels and Olay for example. After becoming Junior Knights, they spent six or seven years constantly training to advance to Middle Knight. But now, more than a decade after becoming Middle Knights, they still couldn’t even touch the threshold of the Senior Knight rank.

Their experiences served to vividly illustrate for Vili just how difficult it was to advance to Senior Knight.

From this, Vili understood that without sufficient talent, a Middle Knight might spend their entire life unable to advance again.

’I hope these attribute points can help me quickly overcome this stage...’

Compared to the likes of Baron Kels, Vili was far more confident.

His worry wasn’t whether he could advance to Senior Knight, but how much time it would take.

Vili stretched his body, feeling refreshed from head to toe.

Every increase in strength was another transformation of his Life Force.

A Junior Knight could easily live past eighty, a Middle Knight could live to be over a hundred, and a Senior Knight was even more incredible—it was said they could live to be one hundred and twenty.

In a world where the average lifespan was just over fifty, this was already quite astounding.
