I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 514 - Dragon God’s Chosen One

Clooney felt his consciousness fleeing his body, but when he came back to his senses, he found himself standing in a magnificent hall.

After being dumbfounded for a second, Clooney instantly realized where he was. He quickly knelt on the ground and spoke with great respect toward the being located at the top of the throne, “Praise to my God, Your Highness Louie Glalakrond.”

Louie just smiled and looked at Clooney with a gentle expression.

“Clooney, I have seen all your accomplishments in these twenty years. You have spread my name throughout the main continent, and I am very satisfied with this. For that, I acknowledge your labor and meritorious deeds.”

Louie slowly spoke. His warm words entered Clooney’s ears, causing this pope to tremble with excitement on the ground and cry, “My God, everything is what I should be doing. For your throne exalted in heaven, I would give all that I have.”

For devout believers, the words of the god that they believe in would be the most beautiful thing they could hear. The face of the god was the object of their most deserving love. For each of those believers at the highest level of the church, the words of their god exceeded all. They would even be able to sacrifice their own children for God.

However, even this level of faith still possessed a possibility of rebellion. One great example would be the believers of the Prince of Lies who were also very good at swindling and lies. Unless a believer reached the stage of a Holy Spirit or being with God, they would possess flaws as mortals. As a result, there was always a chance of betrayal.

It’s just that the possibility was very low.

“You have given your all for me, Clooney! Meritorious deeds must be rewarded, demerits must be punished. This is one part of my doctrine. I am extremely gratified by your hard work. I will share with you my glory. You shall henceforth live with the heaven and earth, be immortal with the sun and moon. You will be my chosen one who walks on the earth on my behalf. Let my light shine throughout the world.” Tʜe source of this ᴄontent s ovl(ꜰ)ir(e).nt

Louie stood up from his throne and a brilliant holy light appeared in his hand. This was none other than divinity!

Louie waved his hand and unleashed a power that every god possessed – Divine Skill [Divine Empowerment].

This was a power to separate a portion of one’s divinity to bestow a chosen one with power.

Generally, a legendary rank powerhouse would not necessarily become a demigod just because they obtained divinity. They would have to fully comprehend the divinity in order to become a demigod. Moreover, there was great danger in doing so.

However, chosen ones were different. A god would bestow their believer with divinity. This chosen one would become as if the god’s incarnation. As a result, they don’t need to have to understand divinity. They would simply obtain the power of a demigod in an instant.

However, even if chosen ones gained demigod-level power, their powers were still given to them by their god. If their gods willed it, their power would be taken back at any time.

It was extremely rare for the gods to take back their power. Those who become chosen ones were always devout believers and would generally never betray their God unless they become corrupted by an external existence.

The divinity shot out from Louie’s hand and entered Clooney’s sea of consciousness. At the same time, Clooney’s aura changed dramatically. From his mortal body, divine might was being spread. There was even a clear emission of dragon might. This was the aura of the Dragon God.

Without any obstruction, Clooney became Louie’s chosen one and grasped demigod-level power.

The number of chosen ones a god could make was limited, so they could not be created on a large scale.

Although Clooney was not too old, his body already gave off the smell of decay. After receiving Louie’s divine gift, the smell of decay disappeared. He had also gained immortality. As a chosen one, he existed with his god. As long as Louie did not fall, his divinity will never disappear, allowing him to maintain eternal youth.

Of course, this did not mean that Clooney would become the eternal Pope. Louie deeply understood the importance of organizational metabolism. Even if Clooney could always adhere to the principles and not make any mistakes, having a Pope that never changed would demotivate the people below the organizational chart. Even believers had desires since they were mortals. They would work hard to get more.

If the hierarchy was allowed to solidify, then people would see no room for promotion, thus corrupting the organization.

In Louie’s opinion, Clooney could probably stay as the pope for a few hundred years. When his church finally stabilized and could expand no longer, it would be able to run even without a pope. That would be the best time to select a new pope.

Clooney could also retire with merits. With his identity as the Dragon God’s chosen one, he could go around the world and do what he wants to do.

“Clooney, you are now my chosen one. Even in the face of those arrogant dragons, you have obtained enough power to fight them. There is no longer any need for you to fear them because you are the chosen one of the Dragon God. All the dragons should show respect to you.”

Louie smiled and sat back on his throne. If Clooney wanted to deal with those dragons as a legendary rank priest, those arrogant dragons would not even give him a second look.

But now that Clooney was Louie’s chosen one, he possessed demigod-level power. Although dragons were not afraid of demigods either, it would still save Clooney a lot of trouble. He would be able to speak calmly in front of those dragons.

As long as Clooney put in the effort to let them know how the church worked, more dragons would believe in Louie, and then his job would be done.

Louie had now attracted the eyes of many gods. Those gods’ followers were likely to launch some attacks on his church. If Clooney remained a legendary rank powerhouse, his safety could not be guaranteed. Even if he was under protection, there could still be some accidents.

If his own pope was assassinated, disgraced, or harmed, Louie could lose a valuable asset. Before a new pope was raised, Clooney’s life could never be in danger.

If affection was not included in the calculation, Clooney’s position had far greater importance than Alexia’s. Even if the Dragon Kingdom changed leadership, its state could be politically maintained as long as the new ruler was not an idiot. But if the church lost Clooney, then the church would stagnate.

Louie’s church’s growth had not yet reached its limit.

“Thank you for your generous gift, My God! I will spend my life to transmit Your glory, to convey your wisdom, to preach your doctrine, and to make Your name resound in the world of San Soliel.”

Clooney knelt down respectfully and shouted eulogies.

“Good. Now go, Clooney… you still have a critical task to do. Now is not yet the time for you to relax and join me in my divine kingdom.”

Louie waved his hand. A surge of divine power rose, causing Clooney’s figure to disappear.

In truth, what appeared here was Clooney’s soul and not his physical body.

After a moment of contemplation, Louie stood up from his throne. He held out his right hand and gripped his dragon spear as he stepped out of his divine kingdom.

“Now then, since you are all waiting for me, then I will come myself, Gods!”
