Chapter 499: Beastman God Gorsh
Chapter 499: Beastman God Gorsh
‘Beastmen? Could they be involved somehow?’
Louie was stunned. He leaned his body closer to Heloise and whispered, “Speak more about the situation with them.”
Louie’s sudden approach scared the dragon queen. She leaned back her body as she felt uncomfortable with Louie’s closeness.
On the side, Noella was bored to death. She only sat down while feeling awkward. She did not want to explore the palace nor did she want to go anywhere. Other than Louie and Alexia, everyone, or rather every dragon in the palace was prejudiced against her.
Alexia leaned against Louie’s side while kicking her legs back and forth, looking as if she was lost in thought.
“I am not sure about the situation with the beastmen. I only know that before Drexler gathered his followers on the east coast, the beastmen army had already made a move, but they only sent a legion. The beastmen army is strong, but it’s impossible for them to break through the southern defense of the Land of Dragons with just one legion of troops. Moreover, they did not take a step beyond the border and remain stationed there.”
“The country does not have enough military power to launch an attack and the beastmen did not cross the border, as a result, we are unable to take the initiative to attack. However, I could not just turn a blind eye against them, so we sent an army with hired adventurers at the border to prevent any ambushes.”
“After this incident, Drexler gathered his followers on the eastern coast. I suspect that he might have made contact with the beastmen so I have yet to take any drastic actions..”
The Mythril King’s feelings were torn. She was not a long-lived wise dragon. To begin with, the vast majority of dragons were not good at using their brains, and even ancient dragons were the same. The only thing that set the older dragons apart was their wisdom brought by experience, but it was not as good as human intrigue.
Among the dragons, the red dragons and black dragons were slightly better at this aspect.
‘The current gods of the beastmen are the God of Beastmen Gorsh and the God of Strength and Courage Bagtru. One is an ancient god who had survived the Era of Disaster and the other is a newly ascended god. The Beastman God Gorsh is a god who should already be at level 12 godhood, a mid-tier god. On the other hand, the Gods of Strength and Courage possess level 6 godhood.’
Louie calculated the strength of the other side. Right now, he was only a god with level 10 godhood, just one step short of breaking through to mid-tier. Facing the combination of the two beastmen gods, it was impossible for Louie to win unless he exposed the power of order in his possession.
There was a level of difference between him and the Beastman God Gorsh. Incarnations took on half the level of their main body. Louie’s incarnation would have level 5 godhood, while Gorsh’s incarnation would have a level 6 godhood.
The difference might only be one level, but there was a big power difference between the first five levels of low-tier and the later five levels of low-tier. This was also why mid-tier gods were considered the watershed of the gods. Even if one had a godhood of level 20, they would still be part of the later half of the low-tier, while the lowest level incarnation of the later half could be done by a mid-tier god of level 11 godhood.
With that, mid-tier gods and low-tier gods had a huge class gap which made it impossible for the weaker side to win.
From an obvious point of view, Louie could not win against the Beastman God Gorsh, who was essentially different from the Kobold God that Louie had killed. He possessed both the divine authority of beastmen and a part of the divine authority of war, giving him a fighting capability.
Sparks of insight collided in Louie’s mind. He quickly hypothesized why the Beastman God would help the Obsidian King and turn Louie into an enemy.
The beastmen and humans were mortal enemies. Many small and large-scale wars had happened before with both races seeking to annihilate each other. The two races possessed the most war potential on the entire continent and both wanted to become its hegemons. However, they had been locked in a stalemate.
But wars were inevitable. Gorsh who held the divine authority of beastmen was extremely powerful. He was a god that belonged to the chaotic evil faction with a godhood that once reached level 18. His doctrine led his believers in pursuit of absolute power and advocated for the strong devouring the weak.
This doctrine was precisely why the beastmen now exist as tribes. The major clans fought against each other without any chance of uniting due to the constant war. It was also this doctrine that created extremely strong individuals among the beastmen.
As a chaotic evil god, Gorsh sincerely loved war and aggression. As long as he remained as the beastmen god, the war between the beastmen and the humans would never end unless one side lost. Peace between the two races would never come.
Unfortunately, the Beastmen Empire was located in the east of the continent. In order for the Beastmen Empire to invade, they would have to bring down the Seven Kingdom Alliance’s most powerful country, Kios. Although humans were in a state of civil unrest, they would still stand united against a common enemy. In ancient history, whenever the Beastman Empire invaded Kios, the other human countries would provide support whether material or manpower. As a result, the beastmen were repelled time and again.
As long as the beastmen could break through the Kios’ defense line, they would be able to quickly occupy all the human territories on the east of San Soliel. They could then use San Soliel Mountain Range as an outpost to launch an unlimited attack on the real core of humanity, the west of the continent.
Central City used to be the defense line that stood against the beastmen that broke past the Kios’ defense line and prevented them from taking the San Soliel Mountain Range for themselves. However, this defense line was taken by Louie before the gods were awake.
If Louie was a pure Dragon God, perhaps Gorsh would have offered to join forces to launch an attack on the humans. After all, both of them would have been non-human gods who were natural allies.
However, the vast majority of Louie’s believers were humans. As long as Louie did not want his followers to die and not let his godhood drop, all he could do was stand on the side of humans and become their ally.
As a result, Louie’s Dragon Kingdom was like a fishbone in Gorsh’s throat and had to be removed. As long as Gorsh had plans to take over the continent, it was necessary to destroy Dragon City, otherwise, Louie might ambush him in the back when he attacked the humans.
Although Gorsh was a god of the chaos faction, he was still a god of war with a strong strategic sensibility.
After Louie thought about the position and situation of the individual country on the continent today, all the problems were solved.
Since Gorsh knew that Louie was a threshold that he must cross, then he would certainly choose to strike first.
In political terms, the best way to weaken a country was to cause internal strife, but at the level of the gods, the best way to weaken was to make the other god fall.
Grosh seized this point, seizing the fact that Louie’s main divine authority was ‘dream’ and not ‘dragon’.
As long as he supported the Obsidian King’s ascension, once the Obsidian King succeeded, he might tear off Louie’s divine authority of dragons due to his dragon followers, so that Louie could only use the divine authority of dreams to substitute his divine authority of dragons. With there being two divine authorities of dragons, the two sides would become absolute enemies.
This would not only cause internal strife among the dragons, but Louie would also lose half of the divine authority which would prevent him from becoming a high-tier god.
This was simply killing two birds with one stone.
‘As expected of an ancient god,’ Louie grumbled.
After comprehending Gorsh’s plans, Louie had to sigh. Beastmen were less than one-tenth of the human population. The total number of beastman gods was also one-tenth of the number of human gods. Gorsh was able to make the beastmen the second-largest race on the main continent and the biggest enemy to humans. This was all to his credit.
Although Gorsh’s teachings were barbaric and incapable of cultivating highbrow civilization, they had their own strengths.
If in addition to Gorsh, Mother Earth Goddess also had a hand in this scheme…
Louie stopped his thoughts. His expression gradually soured at the prospects of his potential opposition.
