Chapter 502: Chapter 358: A Good Show
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
The Sword Shadows moved like lightning, whipping up a sword-wind that pelted the Purple Child’s face like dust and sand.
The Purple Child’s face was a mask of sorrow. Their lifeless eyes gazed up at the vast Star Dome, where countless stars twinkled, until... the sky full of Sword Shadows suddenly froze in unison. The cold, indifferent figure of the Sui Xian Sword Spirit appeared before them.
"The trial is failed. You are to be erased."
The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s expression was stern, devoid of any emotion. It gazed dispassionately at the Purple Child and spoke in a cold, detached voice.
The frigid voice was like a blast of winter wind, rumbling as it swept into the Purple Child’s heart and assailed their Divine Soul.
The Purple Child jolted and scrambled to a sitting position, watching the Sui Xian Sword Spirit with wariness.
The Sui Xian Sword Spirit’s expression remained unchanged. It looked at the Purple Child, shook its head gently, and said dispassionately:
"You are still just a Spirit Body. It is a pity, but there is nothing to be done. Rather than let you remain trapped here forever, wasting energy, I can only erase you."
"Trials offer opportunities, but they also carry risks. Remember this lesson for next time. Failure has consequences."
Having spoken its piece, the Sui Xian Sword Spirit pointed both hands toward the sky. In the direction it pointed, the myriad Sword Shadows paused, then began to tremble violently.
"Be erased!"
The Sui Xian Sword Spirit spoke softly and pressed its palms downward. In that instant, the trembling myriad Sword Shadows erupted with a ferocious aura that shot toward the heavens, as if to tear through the very sky. The Star Dome dimmed, the void quivered, and the world itself seemed to cry out in terror.
A wave of ultimate destruction rippled through the void, locking onto the Purple Child from afar.
!!
The Purple Child was instantly on high alert. Its eyes widened, and a look of sheer terror spread across its stunned little face. A scalp-numbing dread, an overwhelming sense of mortal danger, exploded in its mind.
RUMBLE!
The Sword Shadows descended like a flood, unleashed in an instant. They were a heaven-reaching torrent of ten thousand blades, their might utterly earth-shattering. The Purple Child’s frail body was like a lone skiff in a vast sea, about to be capsized by a monstrous wave, a great tower on the verge of collapse.
"Senior, no! Please, show mercy! Stop!"
In that critical, fleeting moment, Yu Changsheng’s figure suddenly flashed in front of the Purple Child. He spread his arms wide, shielding the child behind him. Facing the cataclysmic rain of Sword Shadows, he shouted in desperation, his voice booming like thunder across the sky.
His voice also thundered in the Purple Child’s mind. It was as if, at the most perilous moment, as the lone skiff was about to be swallowed by the storm, a colossal lighthouse had suddenly appeared, shining with endless brilliance to stand firm against the waves.
No matter how the monstrous waves raged, the lighthouse stood as a beacon of hope, a steadfast guardian.
The shock to the Purple Child’s soul was immeasurable. It stared, stunned, at Yu Changsheng’s back, at the figure who now stood before it, protecting it. Its face was a picture of bewilderment.
"Don’t be afraid. I’ll protect you."
The heavenly might was immense, like the crushing weight of countless thunderous mountains. The myriad Sword Shadows, dense as a flood of ferocious beasts, rained down from the sky with ultimate brutality.
And at this critical juncture, Yu Changsheng, standing before the Purple Child, spread his arms wide as if to personally withstand the entire cataclysm.
He even turned his head to look at the stunned Purple Child behind him. A gentle smile appeared on his resolute face—a brilliant smile that could warm any heart. His voice was like a March breeze, chasing away the winter chill and bringing a sense of peace.
At that moment, Yu Changsheng’s slight frame seemed to grow infinitely large in the Purple Child’s heart, becoming as vast and solid as a mountain.
"You..."
The Purple Child remained stunned, the terror not yet fully faded from its face. Its mind was a whirlwind of complex thoughts. Amidst the terrifying heavenly power, it could only stare blankly at Yu Changsheng.
CRACK... CRACK...
Sounds like a shattering mirror echoed from the void. The Sword Shadows were so numerous their trajectories were a blur, leaving only trails of afterimages as they rushed with unstoppable ferocity toward Yu Changsheng, who was shielding the Purple Child.
The attacks meant for the Purple Child were all taken by Yu Changsheng.
PFFT! PFFT! PFFT!
Yu Changsheng’s body trembled, and he stumbled back uncontrollably, swaying violently. One after another, the Sword Shadows plunged viciously into him. In a mere instant, his body was a mangled mess of flesh and blood, bleeding ceaselessly.
Yu Changsheng coughed violently, spraying mouthfuls of blood that stained the void red. His face was deathly pale, and it seemed he might collapse at any moment. Yet, even then, he took a firm step forward. He turned his head and gave the Purple Child a reassuring look, smiling gently.
"Don’t be afraid. I will protect you."
It was the same sentence, spoken with a gentle tone. But compared to before, his voice was far weaker now. That, combined with the sight of his blood-soaked body, delivered a profound shock to the Purple Child.
It was like a stone had been tossed into a calm lake, creating a small circle of ripples. But then, a bomb had been dropped in its place, exploding and churning up monstrous waves.
Right now, the Purple Child’s heart was that lake. Yu Changsheng’s outstretched body was the stone, and then the bomb. It detonated deep within the Purple Child’s soul.
Only his words—’Don’t be afraid. I will protect you’—transformed into a clap of boundless thunder, endlessly echoing in every corner of the Purple Child’s mind.
DRIP... DRIP...
Drop by drop, blood fell. Yu Changsheng was bathed in it, bleeding from his mouth, nose, ears, and eyes. His face was pale, his aura weak. His body trembled uncontrollably, his posture buckling, but though his steps faltered, he remained planted firmly in place, shielding the Purple Child behind him.
