Chapter 270: Chapter 243: Domain
"Wanxiang Sect’s Li Minghan versus Spirit Dragon Sect’s Yang Chengxu."
As the results of the draw were announced from the high platform, Li Minghan’s lip twitched. He felt like crying but couldn’t shed a tear.
’This is just the first match, and I’ve already hit the jackpot. Of all people, why did it have to be Yang Chengxu?’
Li Minghan looked a little dejected and sighed softly.
"It’s alright. Just do your best."
After a moment’s thought, Yu Changsheng patted Li Minghan’s shoulder reassuringly, feeling a bit of sympathy for him.
"It’s fine. I’ve already come far enough, anyway. And as for Yang Chengxu... I was actually hoping for a chance to spar with him."
"Changsheng, you were able to fight a drugged-up Tang Chen all by yourself. I can’t fall too far behind."
Shaking his head, Li Minghan suddenly smiled. When he looked up, there wasn’t a trace of fear in his eyes. The blazing fighting spirit in them was enough to startle even Yu Changsheng.
"Safety first. If it’s too much, just concede."
Zhang Tianwen, standing to the side, also thought for a moment before adding his own gentle, tactful suggestion.
Li Minghan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He cupped his fist toward them and nodded. "Alright, I’ll be careful."
He turned and leaped onto the arena stage. Yang Chengxu, with an equally placid expression, also jumped onto the stage and stood opposite Li Minghan, his magnificent robes fluttering despite the still air.
Perhaps because of Yu Changsheng’s battle the other day, the competition stage had since been reinforced and repaired. The fighting area had been enlarged, making it much more spacious.
"Li Minghan of the Wanxiang Sect. I ask for your guidance."
Li Minghan took a deep breath, his expression calm as he politely saluted Yang Chengxu with a cupped fist.
"Very well," Yang Chengxu replied calmly, giving Li Minghan a slight nod and a faint smile. "Yang Chengxu of the Spirit Dragon Sect. We meet again, Young Tower Master."
"Indeed. I hope Brother Yang will go easy on me," Li Minghan chuckled, acting as if they were old friends. With a wave of his hand, two beasts materialized beside him.
"A Spirit Wind Python..."
"And a Cold Pool Giant Crocodile..."
"But of course," Yang Chengxu chuckled, but a dark glint flickered in the depths of his eyes.
This time, Yang Chengxu wasn’t underestimating his opponent. With a wave of his hand, the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon made its appearance.
ROAR!!!
A Dragon’s Roar—a sound like both an ox and a great bird—resounded through the air. The moment the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon appeared, its long, massive body unfurling, that single cry drew every eye in the crowd.
It had a cyan body, winding horns, and long, elegant whiskers. Its six claws were a dark, blackish-cyan, and its scales glittered with a cyan-gold sheen in the sunlight. It possessed a natural majesty, and just from its appearance, it looked remarkably similar to a True Cyan Dragon.
"The Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon... We finally get to see Yang Chengxu in action."
"Li Minghan... He looks to be in real danger this time. I wonder how long he can last."
All eyes were fixed on the two combatants. The crowd stared in astonishment at the hovering, coiled Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon, their expressions a mixture of envy and awe.
Li Minghan’s eyes narrowed. After letting out a soft breath, he waved his hand and took the offensive.
"Spirit Wind Python, Sunset Scenery!"
"Cold Pool Giant Crocodile, Icebound Ten Thousand Miles!"
The Spirit Wind Python shrieked as its body floated into the air, engulfed in a brilliant cyan light. The sunlight in the sky seemed to bend, converging upon the python. A moment later, a pillar of cyan wind that seemed to connect heaven and earth shot forth, blasting toward the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon.
The Cold Pool Giant Crocodile stomped its thick forelimbs, making the stage tremble. A frigid aura radiated from its feet, permeating the air. In an instant, the temperature plummeted and a cold mist shrouded the area. Layers of ice spread across the stage floor while frigid gales raged, sweeping toward the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon.
Both of Li Minghan’s beasts were at the Tier Two Fourth Layer. The audience had seen the Spirit Wind Python before, but the Cold Pool Giant Crocodile, while having less potential, was not to be underestimated. As an Ice Attribute Spirit Beast, its combat prowess was in some ways even greater than the python’s.
Its stout limbs, scaly tail, and the Ice Crystals jutting from its body all glittered faintly under the sun. With its every move, a frigid aura raged and the very air seemed to freeze, demonstrating the power of both its physical body and its innate abilities.
Li Minghan himself had reached the Foundation Establishment Fifth Layer. Against an average opponent, he could indeed win with ease.
"A little interesting."
Faced with this rather powerful-looking assault, Yang Chengxu gave a slight nod. The Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon roared, coiling its body to envelop and protect him. It raised its head, and its whole body trembled once.
Instantly, the frost coating its scales shattered completely, having failed to impede it in the slightest. A cyan light flowed across its horns, and a protective shield that rippled like water materialized before it.
VMMMM...
The next instant, the Sunset Scenery attack slammed into the shield and disintegrated, vanishing like a stone dropped into the ocean without causing so much as a ripple.
"Just a mere Lower Species, and it dares to offend a True Dragon?"
Yang Chengxu shook his head and sneered dismissively.
"A True Dragon?" Li Minghan scoffed, his gaze profound.
As if understanding his intent, the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon let out a sudden, space-shaking roar. Its full aura erupted, blanketing the entire stage.
ROAR!!!
A violent sonic wave carrying immense spiritual pressure crashed over him. Li Minghan’s expression remained unchanged as he took a step back to steady himself. He looked up to see the Celestial Cyan Sub-Dragon’s mane whipping about, its six claws splayed, and its draconic eyes wide with fury.
"On your knees!" Yang Chengxu’s voice drifted faintly on the wind. Along with his command, an immense Dragon’s Might erupted completely, sweeping across heaven and earth.
"Are you kidding me? You think you can win with Dragon’s Might alone?" Li Minghan sneered, but his expression darkened as he saw his Spirit Wind Python trembling under the pressure.
