Chapter 766: Chapter 460: A Sudden Anomaly, the Accelerating Collapse of the Seal

In a magnificent villa in Capital City.

"Xiaoyue, it’s about time. We should get going." Zheng Qiuyi emerged from the kitchen in a black dress, speaking to her daughter, who was watching TV on the living room sofa.

Su Yue’s long, jet-black hair was tied in a ponytail. She wore a white T-shirt, a dark blue skirt, and low-heeled sandals. Her fiery, curvaceous figure brimmed with youthful radiance.

"Oh."

Hearing her mom call her, Su Yue answered, then picked up the remote, turned off the TV, and got up to follow her mother, who was already heading for the door.

「Outside the villa.」

A tall man, over six feet, stood beside the luxury sedan. He had sharp eyes and a meticulous demeanor, and was dressed in a crisp suit.

When he saw Su Yue and Zheng Qiuyi come out, he immediately opened the rear car door.

Su Chen was already in the front passenger seat. After Zheng Qiuyi and Su Yue got in, the man in the crisp suit sat in the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove the family of three away from the villa community, heading toward the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute.

The Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute was not located in the bustling city center, but in a remote area in the suburbs.

As the car left the lively downtown area and entered the suburbs, the surrounding skyscrapers immediately became much sparser.

Su Yue, who had been looking down at her phone, glanced out the window. She noticed the streetscape had changed dramatically and realized they were no longer in the bustling part of the city.

"Mom, why is the hospital we’re going to in such a remote place?" Still thinking they were going to a hospital for treatment, Su Yue looked at her mother beside her in confusion.

"We’re not going to a hospital," Zheng Qiuyi said, looking at her daughter.

"Huh?" Su Yue was even more confused. "If not a hospital, then where are we going?"

"To the Spiritual Energy Research Institute."

"Er..."

Zheng Qiuyi saw the stunned expression on her daughter’s pretty face at the mention of the Spiritual Energy Research Institute. She smiled and explained, "This time, your dad has asked a friend who works at the Spiritual Energy Research Institute to take a look at you."

"Oh." Su Yue nodded. It didn’t surprise her that her dad could get someone from the Spiritual Energy Research Institute to help her; after all, he was a major entrepreneur with extensive connections.

In reality, Su Yue was being a bit naive. The person examining her this time was the vice-director of the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute. It was only because Su Chen was an old friend; otherwise, no entrepreneur, no matter how influential, could have persuaded her to personally handle a diagnosis.

The car drove through the suburbs for more than ten minutes, then entered a remote, secluded area. It passed through several guarded checkpoints before finally reaching its destination.

"We’re here. Let’s get out," Su Chen said from the passenger seat, turning to his wife and daughter. He then opened his door and stepped out.

After getting out of the car, Su Yue looked around with great curiosity. She had never been to the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute before.

Every major city in the country had a Spiritual Energy Research Institute, but the largest one was, naturally, this one in the Capital City.

The exact size of the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute was still a closely guarded secret, not disclosed to the public.

Judging by the fact that the car had to pass through one checkpoint after another, taking a considerable amount of time just to reach the main gate, one could roughly tell that the institute grounds were frighteningly vast.

"Mom, this Spiritual Energy Research Institute is huge! It’s several times bigger than the one in Rongcheng," Su Yue said to her mother.

"That’s because a lot of resources have been invested here, so it’s much larger than the institutes in other cities..." Zheng Qiuyi explained to her daughter.

As the mother and daughter were talking, a middle-aged woman walked out from the main entrance of the Spiritual Energy Research Institute. She wore gold-rimmed glasses and a white lab coat, and had a plump figure, an elegant bearing, and faint crow’s feet at the corners of her eyes.

"Su Chen." Wu Xiaoxuan walked up to Su Chen and greeted him with a smile. "Long time no see!"

"Wu Xiaoxuan, sorry to bother you," the refined Su Chen said with a smile to his old friend.

After greeting Su Chen, Wu Xiaoxuan turned her head to look at the graceful and impossibly young Zheng Qiuyi, and the dazzlingly charming and radiant Su Yue.

"Zheng Qiuyi, we haven’t seen each other in so many years, but you haven’t aged a day! You still look like a young girl..." Wu Xiaoxuan said to Zheng Qiuyi with great envy.

"You’re too kind," Zheng Qiuyi replied with a modest smile. Then she said to her daughter, "Xiaoyue, Wu Xiaoxuan is an old friend of your father’s. Go on, call her Ms. Wu..."

"Hello, Ms. Wu," Su Yue greeted her politely.

"Tsk tsk... The last time I saw you was at your one-month celebration, and you were just a tiny little thing. More than twenty years have passed, and now you’ve grown into such a beautiful young woman..." Wu Xiaoxuan said with a cheerful smile, looking at Su Yue.

"Come on! Let’s not just stand around out here. Follow me to my lab."

Because the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute didn’t allow outside vehicles, Su Chen had his driver wait outside.

He took his wife and daughter and followed Wu Xiaoxuan into the building before them—a place he had frequented in his youth.

...

This was Su Yue’s first time at the Capital Spiritual Energy Research Institute. She was filled with curiosity about everything she saw along the way; it felt as if she were touring a wonderland.

In the distance, she could see a few researchers in white lab coats, holding an object that emanated a faint, golden Spiritual Light as they discussed something.
