Chapter 717: Chapter 436: Superpower: Enhanced Sense of Smell

When the colossal Silver-Ringed Snake saw the Exotic Beast Hunters running away, it certainly wasn’t going to let them.

If this delicious prey, already so close to its mouth, was allowed to escape, then all its years of surviving in the treacherous wilderness would have been for nothing.

HISS...

A piercing, sharp hiss erupted from the Silver-Ringed Snake’s gaping maw as it swiftly gave chase in the direction the Exotic Beast Hunters had fled.

At that moment, if Lin Li hadn’t intervened, the fleeing Exotic Beast Hunters’ worst fears would have surely come to pass.

WHOOSH...

A faint golden Spiritual Light flickered in his palm, and in an instant, a razor-sharp Cyan Wind Blade took form.

With a wave of Lin Li’s hand, the Cyan Wind Blade shot out, aiming for the head of the Silver-Ringed Snake as it pursued the Hunters.

"The Mutant Beast is catching up!" The rookie Exotic Beast Hunter with the buzz cut glanced back at the commotion and yelled in panic to his companions.

Hearing this, the Hunter with the unfortunate hairline and the others all looked back.

Their faces turned ashen when they saw the Silver Ringed Snake Beast was indeed chasing them. However, the scene that unfolded next allowed their hearts, which had leaped into their throats, to settle back down.

HISS... The ferocious Silver Ringed Snake Beast flicked its forked tongue, its scarlet eyes filled with a cruel amusement as it watched its delicious prey flee.

In its mind, with its strength as a Second Order High Rank beast, there was no way this delectable prey could escape its grasp.

Just as the Silver Ringed Snake Beast was about to speed up and cut off its mouth-watering prey, a piercing sound sliced through the air beside it.

Alarm bells went off in the Silver Ringed Snake Beast’s mind. Sensing imminent danger, it abruptly halted and jerked its head back.

The razor-sharp Cyan Wind Blade sliced past the Silver Ringed Snake Beast’s face. Just as the beast thought it had dodged the sneak attack, the projectile changed its trajectory and slammed squarely into its face.

BOOM...

The Cyan Wind Blade struck the Silver Ringed Snake Beast’s face, and the resulting explosion unleashed a torrent of razor-sharp air currents that shredded everything in their path.

A Second Order High Rank Mutant Beast was far stronger than a Second Order Middle Stage one, a fact made clear by the Silver Ringed Snake Beast’s reaction to the Cyan Wind Blade.

Despite taking a direct hit from Lin Li’s Cyan Wind Blade, the Silver Ringed Snake Beast was completely unharmed. Its natural defenses alone had nullified the Wind Blade’s damage.

"Get a move on! Stop dawdling!" Lin Li shouted, having used the Wind Blade to stall the pursuing Silver Ringed Snake Beast, urging the now-hesitant Hunters onward.

The Exotic Beast Hunters, who had frozen in fear, nodded at Lin Li. They started running again, quickly retreating into the distance.

’These guys are unbelievable,’ Lin Li griped internally. ’If you’re going to run, then just run. What are they thinking?’

The Silver Ringed Snake Beast saw its delicious prey pick up their pace. It was about to resume the chase when, just as it moved, that piercing sound tore through the air once more.

Lin Li unleashed six or seven more menacing Cyan Wind Blades in quick succession, blocking the Silver Ringed Snake Beast and forcing it to abandon any thought of pursuit.

HISS...

Staring at the several razor-sharp Cyan Wind Blades hurtling toward it, the repeatedly thwarted Silver Ringed Snake Beast opened its gaping maw in fury. A faint golden Spiritual Light flickered within.

A deafening roar exploded across the battlefield. An invisible sonic wave erupted from its mouth, expanding outward.

The incoming Cyan Wind Blades were struck by the invisible wave and immediately began to wobble violently before exploding in mid-air.

BANG, BANG, BANG...

The resulting explosions from the affected Cyan Wind Blades sent a gale sweeping through the area.

Lin Li’s calm expression faltered, replaced by one of astonishment as he saw his Cyan Wind Blades being forced to self-destruct.

The Silver-Ringed Snake glanced in the direction the Exotic Beast Hunters had fled, but this time, it didn’t consider chasing after its delicious prey.

It knew now that it couldn’t catch its tasty meal without first dealing with the pest in front of it.

HISS...

Lin Li watched the Silver Ringed Snake Beast staring at him with wide eyes, its tongue flicking incessantly as it hissed in frustration. He gave a soft chuckle and began to walk forward, calmly approaching it.

Seeing Lin Li advance fearlessly, the Silver Ringed Snake Beast’s massive scarlet pupils contracted. It lowered its body and shot forward to meet him.

The battle erupted.

HISS...

BANG...

The hissing of the Mutant Beast and the sound of deafening explosions echoed from behind them. The Exotic Beast Hunters, who were fleeing with all their might, instinctively glanced back at the commotion before continuing their desperate run toward the safe zone.

...

Golden sunlight bathed the land. In the distance, a flock of birds flew in, intending to drink from a nearby water source.

Suddenly, the flock noticed that the area around the water source was in utter disarray. The ground was pockmarked with craters, and the once-lush flowers, grass, and trees had been utterly devastated.

’This place was perfectly fine this morning,’ they thought. ’How did it end up like this by the afternoon?’
