Chapter 656: Chapter 408: Unable to Empathize with the Indigenous People of the Otherworld
The sparring match between Lin Li and Li Qian concluded when Li Qian conceded defeat.
Although Li Qian had been utterly defeated, she wasn’t the least bit dispirited. On the contrary, she was thrilled to have found an opponent who held nothing back during their spar.
Wiping the sweat from her forehead, she called out to Lin Li as he was about to step down from the arena.
"Young Master Lin, let’s find some time for another match in a few days."
"Sure!" Lin Li agreed casually. ’We’re just strangers who happened to cross paths,’ he thought. ’We’ll probably never see each other again after today.’
Seeing Lin Li agree, a radiant smile spread across Li Qian’s pretty face. Then, she and Lin Li stepped down from the arena together.
"Cousin, are you okay?" Zhu Xinru immediately walked over as the two came down from the arena. She looked at Li Qian’s two black eyes and asked with concern.
Seeing Zhu Xinru’s concerned expression, the spirited Li Qian responded with a carefree laugh, "I’m great!"
Zhu Xinru looked at Li Qian’s two black eyes. ’How is this "great"?’ she thought.
"Hiss..."
Suddenly, Li Qian sucked in a sharp breath, wincing. She raised her hands, rubbing her left arm, then her right.
Seeing this, Zhu Xinru quickly grabbed one of Li Qian’s arms and pushed up her sleeve.
As the sleeve was pushed up, Zhu Xinru saw that Li Qian’s fair, smooth arm was covered in black and blue bruises.
"Hey, Xinru, what are you doing in front of everyone! Let go of my hand." The movement of pushing up her sleeve had touched a wound, and Li Qian gritted her teeth in pain.
Zhu Xinru looked at Li Qian, who was just acting tough, and said with an exasperated sigh, "Cousin, you’re this injured. How is this ’great’?"
"It’s unavoidable for Cultivators to get a little banged up when they spar.
Besides, they’re just bruises. I’ll put some ointment on them when I get back, and I’ll be fine after a night’s sleep," Li Qian said dismissively.
Standing to the side, Lin Li watched the cousins’ interaction and sheepishly rubbed his nose. After all, he was the one responsible for Li Qian’s injuries.
"Let me heal you," Zhu Xinru said, refusing to let go when Li Qian tried to pull her arm back.
The words had barely left her mouth when she extended her right hand. Mobilizing the Spiritual Energy in her Dantian, she brought her five slender fingers together. A faint golden Spiritual Light appeared in the center of her fair palm.
Her Healing Superpower activated.
Small, white orbs of light immediately materialized in her palm.
The small orbs were about the size of pigeon eggs. Once fully formed, they left Zhu Xinru’s palm and flew to Li Qian, landing on her bruised, slender arm.
As the pigeon-egg-sized orbs of white light landed on the injuries, they immediately melted into the wounds.
A dozen seconds later, the bruising on Li Qian’s slender arm had improved dramatically. The pooled blood dispersed, and while the marks hadn’t vanished, seventy to eighty percent of the pain was gone.
Zhu Xinru repeated the process, healing all the other injuries on Li Qian’s body in the same manner.
"The pain’s gone. Thanks!" Li Qian flexed her arms, which had been the most bruised. She then touched the skin around her eyes, no longer feeling the sharp pain that had made her wince earlier.
’Why are these people giving me such strange looks?’ Lin Li glanced at the surrounding servants and noticed they were staring at him with a mixture of astonishment and confusion.
If he had known that Li Qian was the daughter of the Dongwu City Lord, he would have understood why the servants were giving him such looks.
In this world, daring to fight the daughter of a City Lord without holding back, leaving her covered in bruises, was something an ordinary person could scarcely imagine.
And now, they had witnessed the entire thing with their own eyes.
"I’m starving! Let’s go, let’s go, time to eat..." Li Qian announced. She then turned to Lin Li. "Young Master Lin, I’m telling you, my cousin’s chef is incredible. Don’t be polite later—eat your fill."
It was impossible to dislike such a cheerful and straightforward girl. Lin Li smiled and nodded, now looking forward to lunch even more.
Then he said to Li Qian, "Please, just call me by my name. Hearing ’Young Master Lin’ this and ’Young Master Lin’ that feels a bit awkward..."
"Deal. In that case, you should just call me by my name, too! We’re friends from now on," Li Qian said with a cheerful laugh.
"Okay." Lin Li nodded. Just then, he noticed that all the gazes directed at him had turned to envy.
To have befriended the City Lord’s daughter after knowing her for such a short time—if word got out, anyone would inevitably feel a surge of envy.
But at that moment, Lin Li, the object of all this envy, was completely oblivious.
Of course, even when he eventually learned that Li Qian was the daughter of the Dongwu City Lord, he would only be mildly surprised. It wouldn’t cause him to think much more of it.
After all, he was not a native of this world and couldn’t relate to their way of thinking.
Watching Li Qian and Lin Li laughing and chatting away, a peculiar glint appeared in Zhu Xinru’s eyes. She looked as if she was about to say something, but she swallowed the words before they could escape her lips.
