Author Note:

So I just woke up, chose violence, and wrote a cave fight. Are you feeling respectful toward me now? Heh, thought so. 😌

Welcome to the next chapter, everyone! Grab some snacks and enjoy the chaos!

The lesson wasn't over. Ran’s eyes, fixed on Seo-Yeon perched above, hardened not with frustration, but with a student’s determination to prove she’d learned. She didn’t wait for an invitation.

Ran bent her knees, her body coiling like a spring. Then she exploded upward.

It wasn't a simple jump. She launched herself at a steep angle, tilting her torso backward as she ascended. Mid-air, she became a human rotor. Her leading leg whipped around in a devastating horizontal arc—a Cyclone Roundhouse. The force of the rotation was so violent, so perfectly focused, that it didn't just cut the air; it dragged it. A visible vortex of wind, a miniature whirlwind of dust and debris, spiraled around the path of her kick, howling as it aimed to smash into Seo-Yeon’s defensive posture.

Seo-Yeon didn't block. She didn't evade in the traditional sense.

As Ran’s whirlwind kick screamed toward her, Seo-Yeon simply stepped off the ledge. But she didn't fall. She leapt, her body rotating backward with an almost lazy, ballet-like slowness that defied gravity and momentum. It was a taunt in physical form.

Ran’s kick, missing its primary target, slammed into the cave wall where Seo-Yeon had stood just milliseconds before. The impact wasn't a crunch; it was a THOOM of displaced stone. Crystals shattered, and a web of fractures erupted across the rock face, dust pluming outward.

Ran used the rebound, pushing off the wall with her other foot. She focused, her core tightening, and blasted herself forward like a human cannonball, now aiming for Seo-Yeon, who was still in her slow, graceful descent.

This time, Ran didn't lead with a punch. She twisted in mid-air, converting her linear charge into another rotational strike—a spinning heel kick aimed at Seo-Yeon’s center of mass.

Seo-Yeon, still descending, watched it come. At the last possible moment, her right hand snapped out. It wasn't a frantic grab. It was a precise, almost gentle interception. Her fingers closed around Ran’s ankle, not to stop the momentum, but to harness it.

Using Ran’s own formidable rotational force, Seo-Yeon added a minuscule twist of her own wrist—a masterful application of leverage. She didn't fight the spin; she redirected it, amplifying it. Ran’s body was suddenly whipped into a dizzying, uncontrollable pirouette.

Then, with a motion so fluid it seemed effortless, Seo-Yeon threw.

Ran was sent hurtling not just away, but downward, across the length of the cavern. She became a projectile, tumbling past jagged stone spikes and through thickets of sharp, glowing crystals. The world was a blur of pain and violet light.

Instinct and training took over. Just before she would have cratered into the far tunnel wall, Ran punched out with both fists, driving them into the hard cave floor.

SKRRRRRTCH—CRUNCH!

Stone tore under her knuckles as she gouged twin trenches into the ground, her body screeching to a halt in a cloud of pulverized rock. She knelt there, panting, her wraps torn, small cuts from the crystals lining her arms.

She looked up, her gaze finding Seo-Yeon, who had landed silently on the main cavern floor, not a hair out of place.

“You said…” Ran breathed out, the words edged with a mix of awe and accusation, “…you wouldn’t use your abilities!”

Seo-Yeon brushed a speck of dust from her sleeve, her grey eyes glinting with innocent amusement. “I said I wouldn’t use any abilities. Skills. Enhancements. I was very specific.” She smiled, a picture of serene, logical ruthlessness. “I never said I would hold back my strength.”

It was the brutal, beautiful truth. What she had just done—the impossible redirection, the throw that defied physics—required no mystical skill. It was just her. The Guild Leader. The woman who had earned her title not through flashy powers, but through the sheer, terrifying depth of her own cultivated might.

Ran stared, the realization dawning. The gap between them wasn't just about technique or speed. It was about a fundamental, mountainous difference in scale. And Seo-Yeon had just given her a panoramic view from the base.

Hup!

Ran grunted, her voice a low growl of effort. She didn't just push off the ground; she drove her hands deep into the stone, the impact sending a shockwave through the floor. The earth around her knuckles shattered in a wide, jagged web, and the sheer force of the displacement caused several heavy slabs of rock to heave upward, floating momentarily in the air before her, suspended by the vacuum of her raw power.

With a sharp, guttural exhale, Ran ripped her hands from the earth. She snapped her left arm back, coiling her shoulder, and then drove her palm forward in a violent, explosive burst.

The resulting shockwave of wind acted like a piston, launching the suspended boulders toward Seo-Yeon in a chaotic, whistling barrage.

Seo-Yeon didn't stand her ground. She became a blur of gray and black, her movement shifting to the periphery. She didn't just run; she climbed the air, her boots finding purchase on the vertical walls of the cave. She sprinted sideways, her body nearly parallel to the rock face, weaving through the incoming debris. When a stray fragment of stone aimed for her face, she didn't even flinch—she simply reached out and crushed the rock in her palm with a sickening pop, her eyes never leaving Ran.

But the barrage was a distraction.

The moment the dust and debris obscured Seo-Yeon’s vision, Ran disappeared. She had used the chaos as a shroud, propelling her entire body forward in a singular, devastating burst of speed. Her left arm was already wound back, her fist and wrist sparking with erratic, jagged arcs of dark red lightning. It wasn't just a punch; it was a concentrated strike of kinetic energy.

Seo-Yeon’s instincts flared. She snapped her torso backward, the lightning-charged fist whistling past her chin by a fraction of an inch. The wind from the strike was enough to whip her hair across her face.

In the wake of the miss, Ran’s momentum left her open. Seo-Yeon seized the opening with clinical precision. She rotated her hips, her hand snapping shut around Ran’s left arm like a vice. In one fluid, circular motion, she leveraged Ran’s own weight, sweeping her leg across Ran’s ankles and pulling her downward in a devastating arc.

It was a seamless transition of force—a high-amplitude throw that used a pivot and a pull to negate Ran's balance entirely. Ran didn't just fall; she was slammed into the ground with the force of a falling anvil.

BOOM.

...

The cavern floor groaned under the impact. Ran lay there for a moment, staring up at the ceiling, the wind completely knocked out of her.

“I give up,” Ran muttered, her voice muffled by the dust.

Seo-Yeon blinked, a look of genuine confusion crossing her face. She looked down at her student, a playful smile tugging at her lips. “What? Already? Since when did the Starving Badger lose her appetite for a fight?”

Ran let out a long, heavy sigh, her body remaining limp against the stone. “When you said you could use your strength freely… I already felt half-defeated. But then you actually showed me. You slammed me into the ground like a wet towel and slapped me into the floor.”

She closed her eyes, the image of Seo-Yeon’s effortless dominance burned into her mind. “I’ve already made up my mind. I'm not fighting a mountain with a pebble.”
