Chapter 196: Chapter 194: Results Are Out, Seeing Shen Jun

The next day, at 12:07 PM.

Su Miaoyi, holding An’an, knocked on Shen Yanzhou’s door.

Shen Yanzhou opened it and looked at her. "Can’t get the scores to load?"

"No." Su Miaoyi shook her head. "Would it be okay if I borrowed your computer?"

Shen Yanzhou stepped aside to let her in. "What’s wrong? Did your antique of a computer freeze and crash?"

"Today was just a fluke," Su Miaoyi said, defending her computer.

Shen Yanzhou smiled and nodded. "Alright."

"Why aren’t you at work?" Su Miaoyi asked as she changed her shoes and walked inside.

About an hour earlier, she had received a message from Shen Yanzhou: [Need a hand checking the scores? I’m home.]

Su Miaoyi had replied with a voice message: "No need. They’re just scores. The site opens at twelve. Just wait for my good news at 12:01."

"Working from home." Shen Yanzhou handed her the laptop. "So, where’s that 12:01 good news you promised?"

"I was just saying it for good luck," Su Miaoyi said. "Back when I checked my scores..."

She paused. The only memories she had were of the original Su Miaoyi checking her scores. "When *she* checked her scores, the whole family sat in front of the computer. They started at noon and didn’t get the results until three in the afternoon."

Shen Yanzhou looked at her, then chuckled. "Some people... have their scores released at noon, but are still in a farmhouse yard at 4 PM, chasing chickens everywhere. Then at 8 PM, they finally sit down at the computer and use a feather plucked from a rooster’s tail to tap the keyboard and check their scores."

Su Miaoyi’s mouth twitched. She didn’t really want to believe him.

"W-well, didn’t this ’some person’s’ family help her check?"

"A certain little highness wouldn’t let them. Who would dare?" Shen Yanzhou said with a smile.

Su Miaoyi’s mouth twitched again.

’This "some person" isn’t me. It’s definitely not me.’

’I would never do that. I’m the most well-behaved person ever.’

Su Miaoyi opened the laptop and pushed Shen Yanzhou’s words out of her mind. "Password."

As Shen Yanzhou typed in the password, Su Miaoyi tilted her head and looked away.

He glanced at her without a word, letting out a soft sigh.

"What are you sighing for?" Su Miaoyi asked.

"You used to know even my payment passwords," Shen Yanzhou said. "It’s just a computer password. Why are you looking away?"

Su Miaoyi looked at him.

Shen Yanzhou glanced at her again before opening the score-checking website.

Su Miaoyi kept looking at him.

’He must be making things up, taking advantage of my amnesia.’

’A payment password is so private. How could I possibly know it?’

’I’m not that kind of person.’

After opening the website, Shen Yanzhou saw her still staring at him and looked back. "You think I’m lying, don’t you?"

Su Miaoyi said nothing, which was a silent admission.

"You’re the one who set the payment password on my phone. After you set it, you didn’t tell me what it was and wouldn’t let me change it," Shen Yanzhou said. "That was all you."

For some reason, Su Miaoyi suddenly felt a pang of guilt, but she insisted, "I don’t believe you."

Shen Yanzhou huffed out a laugh. "Check the scores."

She remembered the ID number and the exam admission ticket number.

After entering them, she began the long process of refreshing the page.

Just before one o’clock, the page suddenly loaded.

Su Miaoyi’s heart leaped into her throat as she looked at the scores on the screen.

After seeing the scores, she double-checked Cheng Jue’s name, ID number, and admission ticket number.

"His grades are really good," Shen Yanzhou praised. "With these academic scores alone, he could get into a very good Tier 1 university."

Su Miaoyi breathed a sigh of relief and nodded.

Shen Yanzhou said, "Aren’t you going to make a call?"

"I will." Su Miaoyi took out her phone. Just as she was about to dial, she glanced at Shen Yanzhou. "I’ll call from my place."

Although she had no memory of it, she tried to put herself in Shen Yanzhou’s shoes. Seeing his own sister being so close to another family but distant from him would probably feel awful.

So, she decided to go back.

Shen Yanzhou nodded. "Remember to eat."

"Okay," Su Miaoyi said. "I’ll treat you to a meal in a couple of days."

Shen Yanzhou smiled slightly. "Are you worried I’d be sad?"

"Yeah. Isn’t it obvious?"

"Reasonably obvious," Shen Yanzhou said. "Go on."

"Okay. Thanks for the computer. Not you, the computer," Su Miaoyi said, before returning to her apartment.

First, she called Ge Yu to tell them the scores.

Cheng Jue’s family still hadn’t managed to get the page to load.

Hearing the score, Ge Yu was so overcome with emotion they were speechless and started to cry.

In the end, it was Cheng Jue who exchanged a few words with Su Miaoyi.

"I’m hanging up. I’ll head over in a bit, we can talk in person." Su Miaoyi hung up, changed her clothes, and left her apartment.

She planned to buy a few things and head to the old district.

...

「Xinghai Building.」

Shen Jun was out shopping with Xia Ye.

He was carrying Xia Ye’s handbag and walking ahead with her, while two people—a driver and an assistant—followed behind, loaded down with bags of all sizes.

Shen Jun didn’t want to carry anything, so he had called his assistant to come along.

Carrying the handbag, his hands clasped behind his back, he mumbled a few times before finally asking, "Honey, when are we going home?"

"Didn’t we just get here?" Xia Ye said, looking at a nearby store.

"We came out at nine this morning, and it’s already three in the afternoon," Shen Jun said. "We’ve already been to four malls."

"Then you can go home first," Xia Ye said.

"I’ll stay with you," Shen Jun insisted.

Xia Ye looked at him. "You complain about being tired, yet you insist on coming along. You’re so annoying."

"How is that annoying? Go ask anyone, who doesn’t go shopping with their wife?" Shen Jun said.

"I don’t need an escort," Xia Ye said with a frown.

Shen Jun smiled. "But I need you to escort me."

Xia Ye gasped. "Ew, so cheesy. That’s disgusting."

Shen Jun: "..."

Xia Ye went into the store ahead and spotted a pair of shoes. "How about these for Shilan? I think they’d suit her."

A sales associate came over to assist Xia Ye.

Shen Jun glanced at the price. "At this price, she’ll definitely refuse them."

Xia Ye also looked at the price tag, then back at the shoes. "But they’d really suit Shilan."

"I never should have let her get married. She could have married anyone, but *him*..." Shen Jun frowned, anger flaring up. "Food, clothes, housing... everything is restricted. When I think of her moving in there, living in that three-bedroom apartment, my heart just aches."

"If your heart aches, go cry somewhere else. That couple is doing just fine. They’ve been so in love all these years, they’ve never even had a serious argument. You’re the only one making a fuss." Xia Ye then told the sales associate she wanted to look around by herself for a moment.

The sales associate stepped aside.

Shen Jun fell silent.

Xia Ye looked at a few other things, then suddenly asked, "Have you noticed that Shilan seems really happy lately?"

Shen Jun looked at her. "You’ve sensed it too? The last time I saw her, she was in such high spirits. Her eyes were sparkling, and she had a constant smile on her face. I thought I was hallucinating from worrying about her so much."

Xia Ye walked around the store but didn’t find anything she liked, so she headed out. "Ever since Lele ran away from home a few years ago, I haven’t seen her truly happy. That’s why I also find it strange. Why has she been in such a good mood lately?"

As she was speaking and walking, she rounded a corner and was startled by the person in front of her.

She had been lost in thought. When she turned the corner, the person opposite her was still some distance away—there was no chance of a collision—but she was suddenly startled all the same.

Su Miaoyi was walking while glancing at the shops on the side. In her peripheral vision, she saw the person ahead of her flinch, so she stopped and looked over.

Just then, Xia Ye and Shen Jun looked over as well.

The three of them suddenly made eye contact.

Then Xia Ye cried out, "Ah!"
